“A place to relax and do nothing else”
Reviewed 11 June 2014

Because the Rayavadee was not available for out entire stay in Krabi, we decided to give Tubkaak a try. The is a great resort, but coming from Rayavadee, there are a few amenities and services you lose. Whereas the Rayavadee would do everything to make your stay pleasant, the staff at Tubkaak almost give you snarky looks if you make the slightest request. Their staff also doesn't speak English very well.

The beach is gorgeous and private in the sense that nobody really goes there unless you are staying at the hotel or adjacent hotels. Instead of lounge chairs, they use beanbags, which are amazingly comfortable and chill. The beach is super peaceful and quiet and gorgeous...but only at high tide. High tide is when the water comes to the edge of the shoreline so all you see is the water. Low tide is when the water receded into the ocean leaving about 20-30 feet of wet sand with hole dug by crabs. It's unattractive. If you want to just get some R&R, this hotel is the place to be.

There is little to no drinks / dining service at the beach, where most guests hang out. The pool is disappointedly located in the center of the resort and much smaller than the pictures show.

This resort is the only one with decent dining options. One of the nights we were there, they had a seafood beach bbq. They really put a lot of effort into the ambiance. There were hanging lanterns, floral arrangements and beautiful candles. It was a very romantic beachside dining experience...with 15 other tables. Ambiance aside, the food was actually quite good. As a matter of fact, guests at other nearby resorts come to Tubkaak for dinner every night because food at their resort was subpar.

The resort IS very far from the city center so venturing to town for dinner is a hassle. A lot of tour companies charged us extra for pick-up fees because we were further away.

We also had a spa treatment in their infamous massage room. It was quite cool but the massage was nothing special.

Room Tip: If you get a room with a balcony, depending on how you feel about mosquitos, you may never use it.

A colleague of mine and I were travelling for a month through Asia and we stopped in Krabi at the Tubkaak Resort as we have read the reviews on Tripadvisor.

We have been at the Tubkaak during the low season (beginning of May).
Once we have arrived, the hotel was almost empty.
We asked for an upgrade but the hotel refused to give us a better room although 90 percent of the rooms were available.

The hotel is really nice but it is definitely a hotel for couples.
The city is a bit far away, so you are a bit forced to spend most of the time at the hotel.

Lovely hotel with very superb attentive staff. Room was pool facing and well equipped, with a large outdoor bath tub and powerful shower. Both restaurants served excellent food and the service was excellent. As it was the end of the season the hotel was very quite and there are very few other hotels in the area. The hotel is on along stretch of sandy beach with beanbags to lay on and sofas in the bar to sit and watch the sunsets whilst sipping cocktails.
One small niggle is the lack of pool service when sitting by the pool the staff came by the pool only once in the day to ask if you wanted food or drinks.
We would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a very quiet peaceful break

As excited as I was from the pictures and descriptions, it did not even come close to the actual experience. Here are a few of the highlights:

1) Private beach with restaurant overlooking
- We went in early June, and at any one time there was not more than 10 people on our stretch of beach
- Hammock overlooking beach
- Kayaks that can be borrowed (no fee) at any time
- Breakfast and drinks (and dinner) every day overlooking the beach - stunning views of sunset
- Warm water, very clean
- Bean bags to sit on and prompt waiters to bring drinks/food to you at the beach

2) Room itself
- We traveled with 4 people, so we had an entire bungalow to ourselves, 2 upstairs and 2 downstairs.
- Shower outside - seems creepy but it was totally enclosed and felt so nice to bathe in the warmth outside
- Comfortable beds - awesome relaxing music in the rooms that was always turned on when the room was cleaned.

3) Amazingly helpful staff
- Very kind, very attentive
- Towels were changed SO promptly - we'd leave for 20 minutes and somehow they knew we were gone and the towels were changed

4) Delicious breakfast!
- So many options - fruit, pastries, thai food, food made to order. And all overlooking the beach! There was a buffet but also items to order.

Overall an incredibly relaxing stay. The only con is that it is far from Ao Nang beach (about 20-25 minutes), where most of the action is, and it's hard to get a taxi. We had a driver that took us into town for dinner each night so it wasn't a problem.

The best! If you go to Krabi you shouldn't stay anywhere else!!

Room Tip: The rooms overlooking the beach aren't worth the extra cost. Since there was four of us, we pref...

What a wonderful hotel with superb staff who look after you so well.

We ate in both restaurants and I couldn't choose between them as both as good as each other.

It was wonderful to be in such a secluded area.

We loved it and I'd come back in a heartbeat.

We booked the Tubkaak resort for a 3 week stay. After reading all the reviews on this resort, we noticed no one ever stayed that long. We had some doubts that it may be too long and wouldn't find enough to do. This was certainly not the case. We have travelled extensively and this Boutique Resort was, hands down, the best quality and most outstanding one we have stayed in. A more professional and friendly staff does not exist! The Managers, Sunny and Pat were always visible throughout the resort, always stopping to chat and make certain all aspects of your holiday were perfect. As we visited at the beginning of low season ( May) they had started some off-season renovations and additions. To make sure that it did not upset our stay they kindly upgraded our villa to an amazing suite with a beach view and our own infinity pool.....very generous offer at no charge to us. This stunning resort is a dream come true for couples, although because of its tranquility, not a perfect choice for families. Three weeks stay and not one complaint of the food......truly delicious and plentiful ( and always with a smile). If you want a meal a little cheaper, there is a super little restaurant that looks new just down the beach....also exceptional food and huge variety. The front desk is always happy to book any trip or excursion for you, even if you find something on the web that they aren't aware of....and the prices are the same, or cheaper, than booking yourself. Take the shuttle to Aonang for a change. A very fun little town to pick up all your treasures to take home. One could write a book about this place and not cover all the amazing aspects of it.....it was truly an experience you have to feel rather than try to explain......tranquility is the only word that comes close to describing this amazing place. We left a little bit of our heart at the Tubkaak Resort when we left......
