“an amazing experience”
Reviewed 18 May 2007

My husband and I have just come back from a weeks stay at the Tubkaak and we were very very sad to leave - the stay had exceeded all expectations and we could fully appreciate why it is #1 on this site.

We stayed in the seaview rooms which are about 15 meters from the beach and the resturant and well worth the extra money. The rooms are spacious, very well equiped and very comfortable. The little touches in the rooms included the beach bags ready packed when you arrived, the lovely outdoor bath, fresh flowers and excellent entertainment system.

The service at the resort exceeded anything we have experienced in Thailand in the 4 years we have been holidaying there - the resturant staff are amazing, Montree and Jullathong made our wedding anniversary dinner very special and the rest of the team were very friendly and provided excellent service throughout our stay.

Suny, the manager, and his team were always on hand to answer questions and provide recommendations - our welcome and farewell were one of the warmest we've had anywhere in the world.

The tubkaak is not the place to go if you're looking for lots of entertainment and all night drinking - it's focus is to ensure you have a relaxing and peaceful holiday, and it does it exceptionally well.

I could go on and on about the Tubkaak, but as this, and previous reviews show, this is a must for anyone wanting to visit to Thailand and Krabi. We will be rushing back as soon as we can.

Excellent service and great location.

Apart from some confusion regarding our transfer from the airport we had excellent service for the week we stayed at Tubkaak. Every member of staff could not do enough to help you. The rooms were well designed and very comfortable. The beach is so private and very relaxing either in a hammock or on a beanbag. The boat trips were good value and allow you to see a lot of the area.

The food was good for 4 nights but after that it is a little repetitive. A good idea is to go for the set menu in the evening to ensure variety.

The one main downside to the hotel is the lack of a bar. After dinner you have nowhere to go but bed.

Overall though a really good hotel and great service.

Our sun, sand & spa getaway at Krabi was one of the best holidays we’ve had in a while. Though we did have unexpected showers (which by the way landed almost all our pictures underexposed!!!) the resort was simply breathtaking. It was truly one of a kind. Listed among Thailand’s “Unseen Paradises”, the resort excelled in almost everything that my husband & I were expecting from our getaway. The last minute switch from Tubkaek sunset to Tubkaak Boutique Resort was the best decision we’d made, the deluxe room was tastefully decorated and yet simple enough to manage a 14 month old brat. The staff at the resort had taken all the necessary pains to make our stay comfortable and memorable. We were provided with a complementary baby cot and the room came with an open air bath that was just out of the world and a DVD player that kept our little one busy while we enjoyed the exceptionally breathtaking view from the balcony. The beach bags that were provided were beautiful and had everything you needed to lay down on the beach and relax including a bottle of mosquito repellent, a straw hat, beach slippers and towels.

The hotel also has several tour packages either in a group by the express boat or in private by the traditional long tail boat. Our stay was for 3 days and to our bad luck we didn’t have much sunshine despite that, we had a great time. We’d taken a trip to the three islands by the traditional long tail boat on the second day… the islands, Koh Hong, Paradise Island & Koh Pak Bia were something incredibly spectacular, the sea was clear and had a beautiful emerald green to it. There weren’t many people around and we almost had the islands to ourselves. At the paradise island, all we had to do was enter the water and we were flanked by hundreds of fish feeding from our hands and playfully following our moves, a great place for snorkeling & Scuba. The pool is well designed and very relaxing. The bean bags and hammocks on the beach are an absolute treat. The staff in the hotel right from the driver who picked us up from the airport to the manager in the hotel were all very friendly and hospitable and were eager to help before and after we booked the hotel which I was really very impressed compared to many other hotels I’d contacted including Sheraton.

I would absolutely recommend this place. Here are a few pointers if you plan to book in…If you’re traveling with kids, you have to be extra careful and keep a close eye, as they have several lotus ponds everywhere. However we had no problem managing our little one there. They do have baby sitter services however, you need to call and book in advance and remind them a couple of times. The food is very average and definitely would need some improvement. If you’re a spice lover like me, you might have to inform them while you make your order. The library had a few good books but the internet could have been faster, you could also bring along your laptops as they do have dial ups from the room. Make sure you carry your medications, baby food and other necessary things if you’re planning on staying for long as this resort is on the outskirts and there are no shops around. We were also able to get a glimpse of most of the resorts we passed on our way. The Tubkaak beach is towards the end and we were thankful that we didn’t book ourselves at sofitel or any other resort near by as the beach was extremely dirty with cargo ships anchored on the shore. The very sight was depressing and would have made any holiday an absolute disaster! Tubkaak’s private beach was clean and beautiful though not as clear as the beaches on the island, it was definitely better than the others we’d passed.

We totally loved our holiday at Tubkaak Resort and would definitely make another trip again. Thanks to the reviews posted on this website for helping us decide in booking this hotel. I have also uploaded a few pics of the resort to the collection of photos on tubkaak resort. Special thanks to K. Teerasak and K. Jiraporn for the exceptional service that we’d been given.

Simply the most beautiful location with the most attentive staff you could imagine. You really get the feeling that you are a valued guest at the Tubkaak and the staff do everything they can for you. I managed to get sunburnt whilst snorkeling and without having to ask they immediately arranged for freshly sliced aloe vera to be delivered. Dining at the restaurant with the wonderful views is a special experience, and the food is really excellent. A must stay place if you are visiting the Krabi region.

For our honeymoon my husband and I went to Bangkok, Krabi and Phuket. We stayed at Tubkaak from April 13-18 and this hotel by far was the best stay, it was very relaxing and all the staff members were so nice. The food was excellent, the only thing they could do is maybe have a screen set up near the breakfast area because there were alot of gnats around the fruits..But other then that no complaints.. They have a library room where you get free internets access, and because there are only about 42 rooms its very personal. Everyone there seems like they stay for a week...so you end up bumping into the same people... The hotel manager Pat was great they would always ask us if we needed anything anytime they saw us...It was very nice and quiet if your looking to relax, we ended up wathcing dvds that you can get from the front desk and taking naps in between our jumps into the pool...loved every minute...If your looking to ride around you should definitely rent the motorbike, its only $10 for 24hours..Which we did and rode it out to the beach and shopping area...This definetly is #1 in Krabi we couldnt have asked for more.

After sweating it out in Bangkok for a few days, my husband and I were looking forward to slowing it down a bit at the Tubkaak. Lucky us, the Tubkaak exceeded every possible expectation. The first thing you notice is the lush landscape and how the buildings seem to have been carefully built around the trees, preserving the lovely canopy and accomplishing the impressive feat of making Thailand in March feel cool and pleasant. Our room was spacious and tidy, with a view over the pool and the green green surroundings. Interestingly, they sprayed for mosquitoes our first night and it must have worked because we did not have a single bug issue (at least at Tubkaak... down in Ao Nang and Railay we were eaten alive).

We were a bit concerned that there was only the one restaurant, but it had such an extensive and varied menu that I don't think we tried the same thing twice. The food was uniformly excellent. Service at the hotel, from the front desk to the wait staff to the massage therapists was incredibly friendly. We didn't understand the whole "Land of Smiles" thing until we got to the Tubkaak.

The hotel arranged transport to and from Ao Nang for us when we wanted to explore (so not necessary - we should have just hunkered down at Tubkaak the whole time) and also arranged a long tail boat trip to Koh Hong, which was lovely. The Tubkaak is a bit off the beaten path, but after seeing the swarms of people at Railay and Phra Nang beaches, I am so glad we chose Tubkaak. The beach is the closest you can get to private in the area, as you are only sharing it with fellow hotel guests on comfy bean bags. It is absolutely worth being away from the action a bit.

One caveat, get there now because it looks like the secret is out on this gorgeous beach - a big new hotel has just wiped out a wide swath of trees and begun building ugly, jarringly out of place pastel buildings up the beach. It just makes Tubkaak look all the more unique, but I worry the peace Tubkaak enjoys is about to be ruined.

We stayed there for 3 nights. We choose it because of the review and its location (secluded, not too busy). We expected a 5 star room, but I think what they have (pool side, second floor) is equal to 3.5 star to me. The room is simple and clean, but definitely not 5 star. Bath room is quite disappointing for me, it's not that open and air curculation isn't good. The air-con in our room is a bit noisy (room 141). But the resort is a great place to escape from our busy life. Our 2 years old son enjoy the beach and the island trips very much.

The food was great, but not much of a variety (still plenty for us). But it did take too long waiting for food during dinner. It's quite expensive too, but from my calculation, it would cost us more if we are to go into town and have a nice dinner (we are Thai and I am picky-eater when it comes to traveling, I want good food), due to the fact that we need to rent a van (hourly, they told me). However, if your party is 5 or more people, it will probably be cheaper to find food outside (for 2 adult and a child, eating in is cheaper or equal in expense).

The service is good. All staffs are friendly and helpful.

The beach is clean and shallow, good for kids. Water not that clear due to the fact that it's not an island in the middle of the sea. But a boat trip to any island will solve that problem...which we did for 2 days. The beach is so quiet, I love it.

The resort is very quiet and very green with lots of trees, which is what we want. I love walking on the beach in the morning with nobody around but us family. And view is superb all around.

We went there with a package of 4 days 3 night...included in the package is a dinner set for 2, a Thai massage for 2, pick up and send off to the airport...well worth the money as our son was there for free (we only pay food for him).

You guys'd better hurry and visit this place as there are 2 resorts almost finished on the same beach and another one being built (again and again, what the driver told me). Also, the land at the end of the beach is acquired by a big property developer. I am sure that they plan something big there. Tubkaak won't be the same when the beach becomes busy within a few years time.
