“Musty Bungalows”
Reviewed 29 October 2011

Rating this hotel poor for the following reasons:

The small bungalows are basically individual mobile homes. The strong musty smell from mildew overwhelms you when you walk in the door. There were nicer rooms but for a hefty price.
There is nothing to do here. The spa is way over priced and the food is sub par. The beach setting for lunch and dinner is beautiful but only if you like complete solitude as there is no one around. We walked to the Ritz next door for dinner and had an amazing meal for the same price as our lunch at Tup Kaek.
If you are looking for a place in Krabi go to Ao Nang. There is much more going on, more to do, a beautiful beach. We moved to Mercure (a brand new resort) and its the same price for a way nicer accommodation, location, service, and food.

Room Tip: Unless you are a hermit go to Ao Nang Beach. Its a much better location!

We booked first for 2 nights and we finally stayed the entire week ! We have to say that we were very lucky because the weather was wonderful and in september you've the advantage of the low season : alone on a very beautiful beach ! Do not hesitate to book a front beach bungalow, you'll get a breathtaking view from wake up to sunset... And it's not for nothing that the place is called "Sunset" resort because we've never seen such a wonderful sunset (take a look on pictures). Let's say that all the staff was very kind and helpful with us... Ask Mrs Noi and her staff and they'll make your journey here like a dream !

I found this place online through a lot of research. I contacted the resort directly and asked them for a specific package which they were kind enough to provide. All the booking was done prior to my arrival and since airport pickup/drop was included in my package, the minute we arrived at krabi we saw a person waiting for us at the Airport entrance to take us to the resort. This resort is just wonderful, in my opinion, in all aspects. It is away from the main town, quiet peaceful and totally beautiful. It sits right on the best part of tupkaek beach. Sightseeing is not a problem as they provide all the trips at the reception desk with pickup/drop for a little extra amount. Elephant trek and hong island tour were truly amazing. The staff were very helpful, smiling all the time and ready to help out with anything. My husband and I had a memorable holiday here and we would definitely recommend this resort to anyone who wants to have a quiet, peaceful and romantic vacation and we would love to come back here anytime!!!

We drove from Kuala Lumpur to Krabi, and found this perfect hideaway in between two 5 stars resorts in an excellent location.
The food at the restaurant was delicious, the view at the resort was breathtaking, and the staff were friendly.
The staff even accommodated us, when we had minor problem in the room. Overall we would definitely come here again!

It was my worst experience. Food was not good, the rooms were like some pre-made tiny house that got shipped in and placed there. Staff (and the owner) were not helpful in anything that I've requested. My wife and I were not picky. We just wanted basic food. The chef (cook) had no skill. The resort area was not maintain in a good condition. For THB2500 a night, you can find something that's mush better on Railay beach. Or spend a little more for much much nicer resorts in the same area for the same beach and view.

I hope this hotel improve soon. Such a waste of the good piece of land there.

We stayed here for one night whilst on route to Ko Samui. It is NOT in Krabi town - in fact it is about a 30 minute drive away. However - oh my word what a gorgeous hotel to stay in!!! You stay in cute little bungalows right next to a private section of beach. The food is lovely (a little more expensive than other places in Thailand we stayed at). I would honestly recommend this place in a second to anyone. If you would like a couple of days of relaxation in a quite calming place - this is the place for it!!!

Me and my girlfriend stay at Tup-Kaek Sunset for 5 nights in April 2011.

Tup Kaek Sunset is a quiet and relaxed resort. It has access to its own private beach. Shops, restaurants, sight-seeings and other beach are not in walking distance and can only be reached by taxi.

Our bungalow was pretty small but very clean and with a stunning view, 20 meters from the beach. The bathroom, on the other hand, was spacious and like the room very clean. The shower had good pressure, but the temperature was a little "unstable", but nothing to a really problematic degree.

The room was equipped with a TV with mostly local channels and some international news channels, the signals were not too good though. Internet in the bungalows was not available, free WIFI only in the lobby are and in the computer room.

The resort had direct to a private beach, and although perfectly suitable for swimming it wasn't anything memorable. Also, there were always workers digging with machines every day during our stay. I have no idea why as they didn't produce anything visual as far as we could observe. It wasn't too bothering, just a little bit noisy at times.

The staff were very friendly, helpful and professional. Two thumbs up for them.

The hotel restaurant served all day long till 11 p.m., mostly Thai and Italian dishes. The quality of the food was very mediocre and we didn't eat very often there.

We used the Spa service once during our stay for Classic Thai Massage, which was fantastic and with reasonable prices. I regret not using it more often.

All in all, we really enjoyed our stay at the Tup-Kaek Sunset and would easily recommend it to anyone. One only would wish for a better hotel restaurant.

Room Tip: Ask for a bungalow on the row nearest to the beach
