“Loved this hotel! Would definitely stay here again!”
Reviewed 5 June 2013

We stayed at the Tup Kaek Sunset Beach Resort for a week on our honeymoon in May 2013. We loved our stay at this hotel. We stayed in a beachside villa and the room was amazing. Just open your curtains and you are overlooking the beach and the Hong Islands. The room was massive and had everything you would expect for the price.

As previous reviewers have said the hotel is a fairly long way out of town. We hired a motorbike from the hotel and used that to ride to Klong Muang where there were loads of restaurants, shops, Thai Massage parlours and a few pubs. (If you are not confident enough to ride a motorbike you will need to pay for a taxi to and from which starts to get pricey).

We went on 2 tours booked through the hotel and were picked up by van/ car both times. We also booked a tour to Hong Island from a long boat driver parked out the front of the hotel (highly recommend this!!!).

The staff at the hotel were friendly. We had a few issues during our stay- but nothing major (international TV would drop out every night at about 7pm which despite numerous phone calls was not resolved). Main issue was that the spa was closed for the low season which we were not informed of until we checked-in (not a huge issue as we had the bike but we feel as though we should have been informed of this before our arrival.

The hotel provides snorkeling equipment, kayaks and extra beach towels and the beach out the front of the hotel was clean and great to swim at.

I look forward to returning to this hotel in the future!

Spent a while looking for a hotel in this area as wanted to see the lovely island views. I have stayed in this area of Ao Nang 3 times before, and highly rate it for a beach/ adventure holiday destination.

We drove here from Chumphon, and found it very easily with a basic map, and was well signed posted from the main road.

We had a good greeting by the staff on checking in and was showed the grounds of the hotel before showing us our room which was situated just back from the beach but could still see the sea from our room.

I will state now, during our stay they were removing the older bungalows/ rooms and building new, so there was a bit noise, but did not ruin our 2 night stay in any way.

The room was clean but looking a bit tired, but did the job, bathroom the same. Bed was comfortable. Free Wifi.

The view from the beach is amazing, the sunsets are just the best too. Lovely quite beach not to busy nice sea no rubbish around. A really nice relaxing place to be.

Breakfast is buffet which was OK with a good choice, the restaurant dinner, the food was average only ate here once. Restaurant is located next to the beach over looking the sea which is spot on.

Location of the hotel is at the end of the coast road pass some small shops and restaurants and other hotels, pass a shipping pier. The hotel is not close to any shops, probably a 15 minutes walk or a 20 minutes drive to the closet town Ao Nang.

Many island tours can be taken from the beach by long tail boat or Book in Ao Nang which will be cheaper and get picked up from hotel. I recommend paying more for speed boat trip. Hong island being one of the nicest in the area.

We stayed just 2 nights here, really just for the quite beach and views. We stayed a further 4 nights in Ao Nang. Which is a bit cheaper, more night life but not as quite.

We stayed here for the second week of our honey moon, the hotel is about 40 mins from krabi airport and about 20 mins from aou nang. We stayed in a beach bungalow which was amazing beautiful view and stepped straight onto the beach. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food here is very good a little pricy for what you expect in Thailand but you generally to pay more in hotels so we didn't mind 160 bht for a delicious plate of pad Thai really isn't bad. The hotel is perfect if you want quiet and a beautiful beach, we ventured into aou nang a few days and nights as there is more to do it cost about 600 bht one way but we had a great time defiantly go and see the blue dragon lady boys show it was great. Overall we had a fantastic time at the tup kaek and would defiantly return if we were back in krabi

My friend and I had booked a beach cottage, one of the older types that the resort has..we had booked this several months ago…when we got there, our bungalow had been destroyed as management decided to upgrade the resort to international standards….well, we weren't impressed, they put us in a garden villa, double bed,, which was totally unacceptable. No one contacted us to advise us the cottage we had booked and paid for was no longer in existence…my friend and are wanted separate beds so everything was going wrong……in the morning, we finally got it all sorted out….beach view villa as paid for…rooms lovely but the beds are rock hard ( I had room service bring in extra duvets which I used as mattresses), and housekeeping needs to improve its service…dust along the ledges, floor not the cleanest…the bathrooms are lovely but open to the elements so after a few torrential downpours, our bathroom floor looked like the jungle…in-fact the water entered the main room….breakfast was ok….the beach and pool were lovely…restaurant staff were great, they got to know us and anticipate our wants…drinks are expensive and sometimes hit and miss but ok, food was great but again expensive…would I go back…yes!!! It's out of the way so I strongly recommend you bring your own drinks and nibblies….

Room Tip: beach villas are simply lovely….

My fiancee and I stayed here for 3 nights. We stayed in a Deluxe Beachfront room, which was a little bungalow about 10 meters from the beach. The room was nice with good air conditioning and awesome water pressure in the shower. While it was nice that they're trying to be eco-friendly by cutting off electricity when you leave the room, when it's 98º F outside it would be nice to come back to an air-conditioned room. This is minor, but a daily reality.

The real reason we were there, however, was to relax on the beach and we were definitely able to do that! The beach is gorgeous with beautiful rock formations on the horizon and the occasional longtail boat coasting along the water. The salty water is warm and inviting. Twice a day the tide is out, but it was pretty cool because there were hundreds of sand bubbler crabs that would come out to play.

The restaurant at the resort is OK. Relative to regular Thai food, the prices were outrageous, but on par with typical tropical resorts. The food was generally decent and the alcoholic beverages were good (try their namesake drink and the mojitos!). The staff was friendly and accommodating. There were other resorts along the same stretch of beach, but didn't try their restaurants. It may be worthwhile to seek them out if you are staying for more than a couple of days because it did get a little repetitive eating at the same restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner almost every day for four days.

Lastly, the location. The resort is in a fairly remote area with nothing in walking distance except the other resorts along the beach. If you are there to relax and do nothing else, it's a good location. If you're looking to explore the Krabi area, it's not a great base because you will spend at least 20-30 minutes to get to any of the major attractions. For us, it was just fine. We even went on a kayak tour with Phra Nang Full Moon Kayaking Tours, but had to spend an extra 100 baht per person for travel fees since we were so far away (normally travel is included in the tour cost). Also, going from and to the Krabi airport was a bit more expensive than in other places in Thailand. One tip if you're coming from the Krabi airport -- ask other travelers at the airport if they are headed to Tup Kaek and would be willing to split the costs with you. You'll get into a large van with plenty of room for probably 8 people and your wallet will thank you later.

Overall, we had a great time and were glad Tup Kaek was the last stop on our trip through Thailand. However, I don't think we would stay there if we went back due to the somewhat remote location.

Room Tip: We stayed in a Deluxe Beachfront room and were very pleased. It had a nice view of the sea, a covere...

The private beach was beautiful. A great place to relax and see the sun set. The accomidation and the breakfast lived up to the ideal of a great stay. I travelled with a group of friends 8 ppl in total and the general concensus was that this was a wonderful part of the overall trip. We went out on a boat around the islands and another day took to kayaking in the mangroves.
Only slight dissapointment was the demand for all passports at checkin. That was difficult as 5 of the group were Thai and did not have passports.

Room Tip: close to the beach
