“Enjoyed my stay”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 March 2014 via mobile

I actually visited last year in February but just getting around the write the review. I throughly enjoyed my stay. I loved that it was located in a safe and family friendly place away from the craziness of phuket. I was looking for a quiet luxury resort and it hit the mark. I loved loved the breakfast it was amazing!!! The rooms were nice, simple but nice.. My favorite part of the hotel was how close it was from Hong island one of the most beautiful places in the world. Note to future travelers, take a 15 min boat ride to Hong Island from the beach across from the hotel and go there early be for it gets crowded throughout the day. It was sooo beautiful and picturesque!! The concierge was very helpful and friendly. I also did an excursion to Phi Phi island I wouldn't recommend it bc it was sooo overcrowded and rushed. I say stick to Hong island it is much more beautiful and u can stay there all day on your terms by only paying if I recall correctly ~$30 US dollars for the locals to take u by boat and wait for u there all day until u r ready to return.

The restaurant there was mediocre..

But all in all I really enjoyed my stay!

Stayed here for five splended nights. We were luckily enough to recieve an upgrade to a one bedroom suite oppsite the pool. Just wonderful and behind anyone expectations.

Getting a loung via the pool was a problem unless you woke early to reserve by laying out yor towel and leaving a book - everyone seemed to do this from anywhere from 6am!

Needless to say, we followed with others to get the best spot, or to actually get a spot!!

Food in hotel was good. We tried most resturants. Beef Massaman curry was just delightful!

Staff were ever some friendly and tried to accommodate all requests.

If i visit Krabi, will be back here.

Lovely hotel, service and rooms. The food was excellent, we only ate in the buffet one night and I think you need to be there early. There were 8 of us and we never failed to get in the al- a -carte restaurants the italian was lovely and also the Lotus, the drinks were also of good quality for all inclusive. The hotel is pretty remote so perfect for all inclusive, we did go into Ao Nang and definitely worth a visit. The only complaint was there were 8 of us and we had to take it in turns to get up at 7am to get beds together. As the hotel has all inclusive guests they all want to be around the hotel and they need to buy a lot more beds. Other than this everything else was very good and no complaints. The hotel catered very well for families and all the activities took place away from everyone else so it didn't disturb those travelling without children. Lovely bar in the evenings with a fabulous bar man. don't let some of the moans put you off a very nice hotel.

Room Tip: All the rooms seemed very spacious and nice, very clean.

This resort is really beautiful. Unfortunately, we, me and my wife, stayed there during February only for 4 days and it deserve a longer vacation. It's rooms are large and decorated with care. The pool is huge and with all the well maintained gardens, high quality pool furniture and nearby beach creates the right atmosphere of vacation and has the WOW effect. We were lucky to be upgraded to excellent very large suit . The lovely and natural beach is just over the road (funny, a guard helps you to cross it 24 h even there is no traffic) but it's usable only till midday as "ebb and flow" in this coast is incredible.
You can choose the Hotel's speedboat to visit some islands or (what we did) you can rent one of the local's boats that are waiting on the beach. We tried the nearest island Koh Hong and it was excellent. Don't miss. The breakfast is very good . The Hotel restaurants are quite expensive as you should expect with nice variations of Tahi , Indian and Italian. There are also daily changes near the pool like BBQ etc. We've tried the Italian and it was excellent.
There are cheep and reasonable local restaurants in a walking distance, (through the beach or the road) if you find the hotel's food too sophisticated and expensive. I can mention the"Baba" and "Beach Restaurant" nearby and "Coconut" if you are ready to walk 15 min.
The SPA is high class and is must. We tried the massage with chocolate ! and really enjoyed.
The service is excellent and it seems that the staff in all positions is trained well , smiley and wants to help.
To jump to Ao Nang will cost app 10 Euro and 25 min with taxi. Ao Nang has hundreds of tourist shops and as a full contrast to the quietness of Sofitel you have to visit there at least one night.

Have recently returned from a two week stay at this resort. We were slightly anxious having read recent reviews, however this hotel did not disappoint. Yes there were issues with sunbeds (but we are early risers so this did not present a problem). Yes the choice of food in the Maya restaurant was limited (especially at lunch) compared to Caribbean hotels I've stayed in before, but the quality of food (including 'Wagu' beef burgers) was excellent. Yes there were a few service issues with training staff forgetting to serve bread / offer coffee / clear plates quickly. However we had a lovely stay and would recommend this hotel to others.

I recently traveled with a group and our first week was spent in the Sofitel in Krabi. First and foremost the hotel is beautiful, set in a great location opposite the sea it includes a beautiful pool and all of the facilities you could need. The rooms are large, cool and clean and so is the rest of the resort. We particularly enjoyed eating at the poolside restaurant which served delicious food. Our favorites included the Tom Yum Goong soup, the Wagyu beef burger, the spicy beef salad and the Thai fish cakes...all of this menu was included in the all inclusive price which was an added bonus. The Thai and Italian restaurants were good although we did travel to eat out on a number of occasions due to friends staying in a nearby town... I would definitely recommend walking onto the road outside of the resort and visiting a small shack run by a local ladyboy named Suzi's shack...it's a great place to have a beer, some food and watch the sunset...likewise, we walked up the road to the sunset restaurant and spent 3 nights on the beach at the reggae bar. definitely recommend. one thing to mention would be the price of the spa at the hotel.. it was a good experience but I did get better massages for a tenth of the price. a final piece of advice..the evien water isn't complimentary although it is alluded to upon being shown your room on the first day and we came out with a £50 bill for water. Other than those minor details it was great.

Sofitel is a lovely hotel in a quiet area north of Ao Nang. The hotel is relatively large, but the layout makes it seem quiet and tranquil throughout the resort. The resort is very well maintained and gardens are kept impeccably.
The rooms are great, proper size and all with a balcony or terrace. Beds are extremely large but a little hard though. Bathrooms are fine and showers works perfectly in terms of water temperature etc.
The pool is absolutely fantastic, must be one of the biggest ever constructed, and perfect for a refreshing swim. You can easily find your favorite spot around the pool, that is if you’re lucky enough to get a sunbed. Apparently there aren’t enough sunbeds for all guests, which seem hard to believe when watching this gigantic pool with literally hundreds of sunbeds lined up every day. Reservation of sunbeds overtly takes place every morning, and after a few days you eventually have to follow suit and get up early if you want to spend a day relaxing by the pool (you will have to get there before 7 in the morning if you want a few sunbeds for your family). Furthermore we often experienced to be the only guests at the pool for hours despite the fact that all of the nearest sunbeds were reserved, however unused until midday or later. Sofitel simply must stop this foolish behavior e.g. introduce a simple rule – in case of no show within an hour, items will be removed and sunbed is free to others. We are convinced that all guests will respect such a basic rule of conduct, but of course management will have to support the pool guys when enforcing this.
Overall the service from employees are very good, that goes for waiters, cleaning, reception and especially the girls at the activity centre, giving you advices on tours and other activities. We highly recommend signing up for some of the tours arranged by the hotel. We took a nice trip to Koh Hong with food etc., and then we booked a full day 4 island cruise which was absolutely amazing – service was outstanding, stopped for lunch at deserted beach, snorkel wherever you choose and almost felt like having your private luxury boat with crew (really worth the money spend). Sofitel has their own private speed boats and you simply just walk to the beach and get onboard. This is pure luxury instead of the usual routine of getting picked up by bus, driven somewhere else, stopping on the way to pick up other guests and so on. They even provide beach towels, snorkel equipment, fresh fruit etc. and finally a fresh fruit punch waiting at the beach when getting back – just perfect.
Hotel is separated from the beach by a rather busy road, but in all fairness all the trucks passing by are driving very slowly, so this is not a big issue after all. The beach is rather fine and Sofitel has some sunbeds lined up for use, but most of them were rather worn out. Furthermore there is no service at the beach, so you feel more or less on your own. No beach umbrellas or the like, so you won’t spend too many hours relaxing here anyway. Maybe an idea of improvement is to update the sunbeds, put up some parasols and offer guests to buy drinks from the pool-bar (might also reduce some of the hustle at the pool).
There are several fine restaurants at Sofitel, but unfortunately most of them only offer buffets. We had dinner at the Italian restaurant several nights, which is one of the few offering a’la carte menus. Luckily the Italian was one of our favorites, but we would have loved to eat at the Thai restaurant which unfortunately only offers set menus, and therefore wasn’t a choice for us. Generally speaking the quality of food might not match the prices paid. Obviously when staying at a luxury resort food tends to be more expensive, but we have stayed and had dinner at classier hotels in Thailand, where food were more reasonable priced and considerable better quality at the same time. On a few occasions we took a taxi to Tubkaak Krabi Boutique resort, and had a fantastic lunch/dinner with appetizers, drinks etc. in the most awesome location, all at the same price as a mediocre sandwich or salad with a coke in Sofitel’s pool-bar (just to put things in perspective). By the way visiting Tub Kaek beach is highly recommended, a taxi doesn’t cost much and the beach there are so beautiful and serene and you can visit the hotel recommended above as variation.
Breakfast buffet at Sofitel however was really nice and comprehensive.
We did use the spa a few times, and the treatment was absolutely lovely.
In conclusion this is a really nice hotel situated in a very relaxed and peaceful area and with the most amazing pool imaginable. If the situation regarding sunbeds are cleared, and perhaps together with a little uplift in quality of the restaurants, this would undoubtedly be a perfect choice for a great holiday destination. We would certainly like to visit Sofitel Krabi again.

Bonjour and Sawasdee Krab,

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback regarding your stay at the Sofitel Krabi Phokeethra Golf & Spa Resort. Rest assured that it is always a pleasure to receive constructive feedback, which allows us to achieve and improve our best quality service at all times.

Following to your comment regarding our sun beds, we are currently in our on going projects and the challenges we are facing for the sun beds situation is on our top priority list.

We sincerely regret to hear about your disappointment regarding our beach. In Thailand, all beaches are public but we have managed to secure an area for the resort. We make sure that our Sport & Recreations team takes necessary measures on a daily basis to offer our guests a decent and comfortable beach.

We are happy to read that you are really enjoyed our services provided into the hotel such as our SoSpa with l'Occitane and our speedboat excursions.

We look forward to welcoming you back again in the near future for more memorable moments with us
