Simon Dell, the general manager, and his staff make you very welcome. The food is good, the service unobtrusive and impecable and the rooms excellent. Breakfast, with an all you can eat buffet and chef to cook your eggs, is a trencherman's delight. The two restaurants, Thai and Italian, are good value and the prices pretty good too. The hotel is 45 minutes drive from the airport but with the limo service it was no problem and not expensive. Well outside Krabi itself the hotel is a great place for a quiet, restful break. The end of October, when we stayed, is the very end of the wet season but we did very well with warm, not to say hot and sunny, weather for our entire stay. The hotel faces due west and with Happy Hour's 2 for 1 drinks watching some incredible sunsets was the perfect end to a restful day. I can't think of a criticism constructive or otherwise. Well done Amari!

We drove from Phuket (Kata Beach) to Amari Vogue, Krabi (3hr drive). Admittedly, our first impressions was that it was no-where near as lively as Phuket - but it depends on what you're looking for. They are two very different experiences. Amari Vogue is a very beautiful but very isolated hotel - eg there is nothing nearby to walk to other than along the beach. The hotel and Krabi province really grew on us as the week went on.

It is one of the nicer stretches of beach in Krabi - the view out to the islands jutting out of the water is very pretty however the beach itself is just OK - very calm and relaxing - definitely no local hawkers trying to seel you thing on the beach.

The first thing my wife and I did was extend our hire car so that we had it for the whole week. I realised that you can negotiate price with the hire car companies. We negotiated a rate of 1000THB per day with Budget rentals for a compact sedan. Given that the taxi fare to Ao Nang is 500THB each way and that the hotel only does one complimentary trip to town each day at 4pm, hiring a car for the week was a no-brainer and certainly made our stay more enjoyable. What you are really paying 1000THB/day for is FLEXIBILITY to go and come back whenever you like without feeling stranded at the hotel. We simply dropped the car back to krabi airport when leaving. The transfer from the hotel to the airport is 1000THB anyway sol if you are not geting the message, HIRE A CAR - trust me!!!!

Day trips I would recommend are:
+4 Island Tour (there are different 4 island tours) - make sure it includes a visit to Poda Island (the nicest beach I have seen in Thailand) and Tup island
+Hong Islands - we did a tour which involved kayaks for a short time to explore the lagoons which was very nice
+Railay Beach - standard rate of 100THB each way - it is part fo the mainland but only accessible by long tail boat - a great day out to have lunch, explore the west and east sides of the beach
+Also, Krabi night market on Friday night was very cool

The town of Krabi itself is just another Thai town. Ao Nang is the main area which you go to with the restaurants, bars an cafes (approx 20min drive from Amari).

Other nearby hotels I made a mental note of were:
+Anyavee - next to Amari but not as nice
+Tubkaak Boutique Resort - to hotels down from Amari - looked very nice and has a lot of great reviews also on trip advisor
+Sofitel - forget it - you will be dissappointed as it is across the road from a very bad beach. Location is terrible
+Sheraton - looked good
+Rayavadee - high end hotel next to Railay Beach. Very good reviews though pricey and somewhat isolated

Staff at amari were 1st class - genuine smiles and couldn't do enough for you. Some of the best hotel staff I have had the pleasure of associating with in Thailand.

Overall, a beautiful hotel. Only 57 rooms so not too big. One of the best locations in Krabi - very quite and peaceful. Food in the hotel is excellent. The only thing is if you are used to staying in hotels which are walking distance from restaurants, cafes, bars etc, then this is not it. You need the flexibility of having a hire car. You could stay in Ao Nang however I didn't see any hotels which were quite like the quality of the Amari.

I would also recommend asking for a room on one of the top floors - they all have ocean views but the high up you are the better the view. Also, there are a lot of stairs throughout the resort so keep this in mind if you are with elderly people.

We have just recently returned from a two week holiday at the Amari Vogue, and cannot emphasise what a delight it was to find a little piece of Thailand which has escaped the clutches of tourism. The hotel is about 40 minutes drive from Krabi town and the airport, set on the edge of a nature reserve, with the most beautiful beach shared by two other very small hotels, with stunning views towards the neighbouring islands, which are easily accessible by longtail boats.

We were last in Krabi for our honeymoon 14 years ago, and we were a little nervous as to what to expect, and it was with sheer delight and relief when we stepped into the Amari Vogue, a sea of smiling faces from the staff, and attention to detail which surpasses the standards of a 4.5 star hotel, that we had found something quite special.

The Amari Vogue is a really pretty hotel, and everywhere you walk it's like snapping a picture postcard. We stayed in a Deluxe room, which was light, airey and very spacious, traditionally furnished, with a good size bathroom, and a balcony. The hotel itself is set into a hillside, so probably not ideal for those with walking difficulties, although there are various pools, seating areas and beatifully manicured gardens from the top reception area down to the beach, with the spa being about equi-distant. Breakfast is taken in the Lotus restaurant, which in the evening serves traditional Thai and European food, and the Italian restaurant Bellini, down at the beach, which was our favourite – with carpaccio to die for it was so good, washed down with a not too expensive bottle of wine. You can also escape the midday sun here, one of my favourite dishes being the Ceaser salad, although rumour has it that the gnocci and the barracuda and chips are well worth adding those extra few pounds!

Days were spent lazing down on the beach, gazing at the magnificent scenery, with the occasional stroll up and down the beach, then between 5:30pm and 6:30pm it was Happy Hour where we sipped cocktails and witnessed the most amazing sunsets, which Krabi is renowned for, hence the appearance of some very serious camera equipment appearing! If you don’t want to be quite so lazy, you can take a longtail boat to one of the neighbouring islands, but would suggest going as early as possible to avoid the crowds, and also do as we did, and climb to the summit in the national park, but make sure you go early, take lots of water, trainers, and most importantly do it on a clear sunny day, otherwise you may be disappointed when you get to the top. This is not for the faint-hearted though, as it’s 2 hours up and 2 hours down, but the view is astounding.

There’s a free hotel shuttle which leaves at about 4:00pm every day to the town of Ao Nang (20 minutes away), which is a typical touristy hotspot, with loads and loads of restaurants, hotels and bars, and shops that couldn't even entice a shopaholic like myself to buy something. The only good thing about Ao Nang is leaving it, although that woud be after enjoying a very tasty supper at a fish restaurant which was off the beaten track and situated up the hillside, with far reaching views over the town and ferry ports, called Ley Lee, where you could actually pick your own fish out of the tank. A taxi back from Ao Nang will cost about 500 baht.

There are other local restaurants out and about, but the food is so good at the Amari Vogue, and we thought not at all expensive, that we spent most of our evenings there, although we did stroll up to the Tubkaak for supper one evening, which was good, but not a touch on the Amari. The Head Chef is very much a larger than life character, extremely passionate about his food and the service given, and is always there to make sure that you are happy with the food etc.

Simon, the General Manager, is so enthusiastic about his hotel and the service his staff provide, always buzzing around here there and everywhere to make sure that his guests are adequately cared for. In fact, I can’t emphasise how brilliant the staff are at the Amari, from the management down to the gardeners, they are all so courteous and just can’t do enough for you, and we can’t wait to go back, because this is a little slice of paradise which we don’t want to lose touch with.

And just in case you might be reading this Simon, thank you so much for making our stay at the Amari so pleasurable, and please extend our best wishes to all your excellent staff who made our stay so memoable.

We stayed for a week at end of October and were overwhelmed by the attention of the staff.
Even before arrival all our enquires were promptly answered. We also booked with the hotel airport transfer; as it happened we had a problem with our flight so we arrived late. After contacting the hotel the airport transfer was re-scheduled by Chumpol Chantaloon (front desk manager) without a problem and confirmed to us promptly.
Small details make a lot of difference in how you feel such as being warmly greeted by Simon (General Manager) and his team on arrival or when returning from a day trip on a long tail boat being met with a refreshing towel and a glass of iced water.
Minor issue that arose with regards to twin/double bed availability were quickly resolved to our complete satisfaction.
We travelled during the low season and benefited from a promotion therefore the hotel was excellent value; our rating for value reflects the high season prices.
Breakfast was excellent and dinner at the Lotus restaurant was great too. Overall service was excellent and we have already recommended it to friends.

A beautiful & idyllic hotel right on the beach. A fantastic hotel to relax & get away from the hustle & bustle. Beautiful modern spacious rooms. An amazing pool area which cascades down a few levels.

Two nice restaurants with very good food.
Lotus where breakfast is served also serves dinner with a traditioinal thai menu & also several western dishes. We dined here twice trying traditional thai dishes which were fantastic & also on another night tried the fish (baracuda) & chips which was also very good.
Bellini, the other restaurant serves traditional italian dishes including a choice of meat & fish dishes which was very good.

The only negative is the wine is very expensive at approx £40 for the cheapest bottle, the time you add the 10% service & 7% tax. We would normally like to enjoy a bottle of wine with our meal but at such high prices we were a bit put off so generally just opted for a glass of wine (approx £7) or a beer (approx £5).

However there is a happy hour between 5.30-6.30pm, which made the drinks better value for money & they have a cocktail menu which we took advantage of. This is an ideal time to enjoy a relaxing drink in a beautiful location & watch the sunset - simply stunning !

The staff are all very friendly, attentive & simply can't do enough for you.

As mentioned earlier for all this is a beautiful & idyllic hotel if you are looking for any life after dinner then you would have to travel into the town of Ao Nang which is approx 20-30 mins away by taxi. Where there are lots of shops & restaurants. We caught the hotel shuttle into town which leaves the hotel at 4pm & caught a taxi back at a rate of 500 thb. We dined at Jeanettes which was very reasonable & the food was excellent.

Overall we would highly recommend Amari Vogue.

We have just returned from a two week stay at Amari Vogue. In summary this is a very nice resort with big and beautifullly decorated rooms, each with a spacious balcony. Great breakfast!
The personal service is fantastic and after a week or so you will simply start to care for the smiling and always helpful staff. If you travel with children you can rest asure that the people at Amari Vogue will make friends with your kids right away.

The view from the hotell is breathtaking. When the sun sets the Hong Islands make a picture perfect impression. During the day you can rent a long tail boat and enjoy the 20 minute ride to the wonderful Hongs. For this you pay 1800 bath and it is up to you when you want to go back to the hotel.
For 2200 bath the boat guys will take you to Chicken Island (approx. 90 minutes) where you can dive and enjoy the fantastic sea and beach.

If you crave for a quiet and relaxing vacation you will find your peace at the Amari. However; this is not a five star resort. We were not welcomed when we arrived, and we had to carry our luggage to the check in counter. I have no problems with this – sometimes I even prefer it – but I do not think it is suitable for a five star resort.
The rooms are very nice but even though the hotel is only two years old, the paint has already started to come of the walls at some places.
There are portable beds stored in the corridor outside the rooms. This reduce the overall impression, and again; it is not suitable for a five star resort.

The neighboring hotel is doing major construction work at their premises. A work force of 30-40 men are at hand all day long. You will not be bothered by this as long as you are in your room or at the pool, but you will surely hear them when walking at the beach, or when going in or out of your room if located at the hotel side next to the constuction work.
This is of course not something that you can blame the Amari for, but never the less it is irritating.

The hotel restaurants are good but pricy. And whats with the italian restaurant at the beach? I do not travel to Thailand to eat italian. I think the hotel will gain on offering a top thai restaurant instead.
As before mentioned at Tripadvisor, there are a much better restaurant at the Tubkaak Krabi boutique resort only 200 meters to the left from Amari Vogue. The service is fantastic and the food perfect, and the ambience is much much better.

The staff at the Amari Vogue Hotel deserves five stars but not the hotel. You will be well taken care of, and I am sure that you will enjoy your days by the pool. But do not expect perfection.

Amari Vogue is without doubt a fantastic resort, of that there is no doubt.

The rooms (even the standard ones) are stunning and the whole ambiance of the place extremely tranquil. Staff are probably the best I have ever encountered, so friendly and helpful.

The food is amazing. Everything we ate at the Italian and the Thai restaurant was amazing.

The place is dead after 8:30PM. Completely and utterly dead. It's ok for the first few nights but after that a bit mundane.

We took the 5PM shuttle bus into Ao Nang on a couple of occasions and was pleasantly surprised by the place. Lots of restaurants and bars down there and well worth a visit but be warned Simon the hotel Manager will tell you the complete opposite within 24 hours of you arriving at Amari.

Amari Vogue Pros: Simply stunning resort, fantastic views, great beach, Longtail Boats available to visit several beautiful islands (Hong Island is stunning), fantastic good value food.

Negatives: Too isolated, a bit too quiet and lacking in atmosphere, TOO MANY STEPS (definitely not for the elderly or those who have difficulty walking), majorly expensive drinks (About £4.00 for a bottle of beer and £8.00 for a glass of wine).

Tip: If you want a massage expect to pay about £35.00. Go to Ao Nang and have a fantastic hour long massage on a bed just oof the beach for £ 4.00. Trust me the best massages you will ever have.

For people wondering about travelling in early October just to let you know it was overcast and raining every day. 2 days of the 5 ALL day. In hindsight we should have left it until early November.

5 - 7 days is enough at Amari and then move onto somewhere else is my recommendation.

On the whole though, stunning.Perfect Honeymoon resort is how I would sum this place up.
