We just got back from our 1 week stay at the Majestic Elegance, adult only section. What a fantastic resort. Beautiful from the grand foyer to the public washrooms.....straight through to the beach. Upon arriving 5 hours later than expected because of a storm, they could have been better organized. The language barrier made for an interesting check in. Had a hell of a time finding our room. But I guess it wasn't the resorts fault our flight was delayed and arrived there at 3:30am. From the next day we were well taken care of. Room always cleaned and fridge restocked. The resort itself was being cleaned 24/7, no lack of staff. Room service was available 24hrs in the adult section, the fried chicken and chicken quesadillas were great. As for the other food available, the main buffet we chose daily for breakfast. Always pleased and lots of choices. Lunch we usually ate at the see & sea and the food was just fine there as well. The chef would make pasta of your choice which we very much enjoyed. Our favorite choice of a' la carte would have to be the French restaurant. A must order would be the beef tenderloin, such a wonderful meal we went back a second time. The best dessert was the chocolate mousse...order even when too full!! Make sure if your a male you pack a couple of dressy pants/shirts and close toed shoes, as the a' la cartes have a dress code. Plenty of bar choices. We grew to like the pool bar by the Elegance club lounge "Ella". The bar staff made a point to get to know you and carry on conversations. A big thank you to Chava for always being there making sure we had what we needed for drinks poolside and Keilin, Henry for also taking great care of us. A special thank you for all the great service to Rosa (who worked at numerous locations)...what a sweetheart, we miss her already!!! Looking forward to a return visit.
Keri and Peter

Room Tip: Upgrade to a swim-up suite once there....so worth the money. Not only are they poolside but super close to the beach!

My wife and I just returned from 7 days at Majestic Elegance, and I have to admit, I was a little disappointed. We did a lot of research on the resorts in Punta Cana, and wanted to treat ourselves for our 10 yr anniversary. We were excited by many of the service features that were offered by M.E and the "elegance club". On paper, the services and ammenidties are 5 star...fantastic rooms, private pools, butler service etc. The resort is beautiful. The grounds are clean, and very pretty. The rooms are very nice as well. We had a JR suite with Jacuzzi, and there is no different in the rooms for Elegance Club vs Non Elegance club (as far as size etc). They are, for the most part well equipped.

The food at the restaurants was ok. The nice thing is that there are quite a few specialty restaurants. We found that the Japenese restaurant had the best food, and was very entertaining. The buffets were typical all inclusive buffets. The food is definately not 5 stars, but it is decent for the Dominican republic

The entertainment team did a good job with the shows at night, especially the Michael Jackson tribute show.

The bartenders at the Club bar (near the Elle section) Maxima and Felix were far and away, the most freindly and hard working staff members in the resort. Maxima, in particular, really went out of her way to ensure that everyone had a wonderful time. By the reactions of many returning guests, she is the reason that they come back.

Now the hard part. M.E is extremely overrated for service, particularly the housekeeping, front desk and the "butler" service. The housekeeping is terrible, and when asked for simple requests like a couple of extra towels, we were told by the maid that we had enough (2 towels...no face colthes). The rooms were not cleaned very well, despite of the tips that we left for her. After repeated requests for some of the "extras" that other guests were getting, we never recieved anything. These are requests that are supposed to be standard for Elegance club members. Our Butler/Consierge Carlos was fairly useless, and after showing us the room, we only heard from him once. The front desk staff were not at all helpful, and often appeared to be rude, or annoyed that we asked for help with things like getting more money, or helping arrange our transfer to the hotel. Room Service is not very good, and in fact, the first time that we ordered it, we never recieved it, despite several calls. The time that we did recieve it, it took nearly 2 hrs, and was freezing.

Sadly, every couple that we had talked to experienced the same types of frustrations, to different levels, and all said that the resort is very inconsistent.

All in all, we had a Fun holiday in the sun. We met alot of wonderful people, had pretty good weather and at the end of the day, that is all that was important. I dont believe that we will return to ME, and I would not recommend this resort. I would suggest that you look closely at the negative reviews, and weigh them a little more. We found that there was alot of truth to them in retrospect, even though we dismissed them before we left as just opinions from people who "are never happy". Fact of the matter is, Majestic Elegance does not live up to the expectations that they are selling, and there was truth to the frustrations that people have.

Room Tip: We stayed in the 4000 block, and we had a view that faced a a forest, and was overtop the service road. Not great, but was close to the main building. We would have preferred to have been in the "elle" section, that was closer to the beach and Maxima's pool bar.

The hotel setting itself was beautiful. The hotel itself was poorly constructed throughout. Windows are dirty, room was less than clean with poor workmanship. Room service, food and butler service were very poor. We had problems and dealt with the manager Ismael Vallejo Perez who tried to settle our disappointment when we came home one evening to find a complete stranger with a large wrench in his hands exiting our room as we entered giving us a terrible fright. We were returning to our room on the night they were to have our hot tub set for a romantic evening. There was another worker inside our room as well and they had been working on fixing the hot tub to no avail. It was supposed to be ready by 7:30 and it was already 9 :00 because we were late from a dinner at the French restaurant because no one returned to take our dessert order. Ismael was prepared to compensate us with a dinner on the beach. We agreed as long as a bottle of complementary California Cabernet was provided as well. The wines at this resort and many of the drinks are not worth consumption and we wanted to at least enjoy a nice bottle of wine. When we went to enjoy this dinner on the beach and the only bottle of wine provided was the house. There were no instructions from Ismael about providing a nice bottle, so we ordered the one he promised. We then were billed for the wine. When we finally located Ismael the next day to adjust his bill he denied ever promising to give us a bottle in the first place. His attitude in handling this situation was extremely rude and we could not wait to leave this resort and would never return. On top of it all we had a brand new camcorder stolen from our suitcase upon arrival to the hotel. We filed a report with security and no one at the hotel followed up with us. We have since contacted our trip insurance to get coverage and requested a copy from the resort and we continue to get the run around and no one has gotten back to us since our trip in February. We needed this proof to file our claim with the travel insurance.
The beach is gorgeous, the grounds are beautiful. The pool is missing tiles and this hotel lacks service at the beach (no one comes to take your order or if they do they never return with your drinks!), pool and restaurants. We stayed at the Excellence Club in one of the most expensive rooms facing the ocean so you can only imagine our disappointment with the vacation.

This was our first trip to the Majestic Elegenance - and I must can't wait until next April to visit again. The resort was beautiful, food was outstanding the staff can not say enough about them. Special thanks for the following who really made our trip OUTSTANDING: Super Julio, So So, Jackson Mozart, Jasmin, Yonny Bravo, Luciano & Pita, but how can I forget the pool bartenders! Ismael, Ceasar, Yahaira and Miguel. My only advice to future travelers is bring your own 22oz tumbler - yes they will fill it. Thanks again, my husband, daughter and I really had a great time! See you on 2013

Susan

Room Tip: Not necessary all are good - you spend very little time in the room!
