We spent 7 nights at the ME in the Elegance Club and we had a great time! The reason we will be returning is the amazing staff! The staff were wonderful, always happy to see us and extremely helpful. Alex and Raydhy are a terrific asset to the ME staff. Alex worked in the Elegance Club lounges when we saw him. He speaks very good english and was always making sure that we were happy with our accommodations and would double and triple check that we had everything we needed . Raydhy was our bartender at the Elegance Club (Elle) beach side bar. He was very friendly and we always looked forward to going to his bar in the evening. It was truly a highlight of our vacation.

I had sent an e-mail a few weeks prior to our arrival to request an ocean view room and was very pleasantly surprised when the concierge was able to fulfill the request! The room was very spacious and clean and had such an amazing view! We were always able to count on our room to be cleaned by lunch time! Our mini fridge was always stocked with beer, soda and water.

The Elegance Club was a great perk that we would recommend to anyone looking for an extra something special, and to have access to a pool and beach area away from kids. During our stay the Elegance Club upgraded their towels to very plush new ones which was a great perk! It was also very convenient to have access to the internet or any snacks anytime we wanted them. I would highly recommend going this route if you intend on going to the ME.

The only area that I would like to see improved is the food. We went to this all inclusive having read MANY reviews so we did not have very high expectations. By no means did we starve at all the week we were there. We were ALWAYS able to find something to eat but we did find ourselves eating at Flavors (the buffet) very often because there were many options, which lead to a great chance of finding something appealing for us. The hostess at flavors always greeted us with a smile!

Overall we had an amazing vacation and would most definitely plan a return trip!

Stayed at the Elegance from March 27 - April 4. Check in went smoothly considering we arrived at 12:30, had no problem getting into our room right away. We were in Buildng 2, so one building away from the beach, two away from the restaurants/lobby. The first day or so, it seemed like a long walk to reception, but it really wasn't once you got used to it. It was nicer being closer to the beach.

Room was fanastic. A/C was set for 20.5, which was perfect for us. It was nice white noise, since the couple of times it turned off, we could hear the people talking in the other rooms. Shower was great - lots of pressure and hot water. Water never leaked out, could have been the direction we had the shower heads pointed. Not sure if a floor mat was supposed to be beside the shower, but we used the one from the jacuzzi the first day and after that, there was always a mat for both areas. Bed was comfortable, but missed our high-thread-count sheets from home. Lots of channels on the TV, so if you need to see your ABC, NBC and CBS channels, they are available. Maid service was different times throughout the day, it seemed to change on the maid. One came in the morning and then another mail on a different day, later in the day. Mini bar attendant saw we were drinking more beer than pop, so that was restocked according.

Most nights ate at the a la carte restaurants. Had no problem making reservations the same day for the French restaurant. DIdn't try the Japanese. With only two people it was easy to just walk up to the steakhouse or Italian and get in. Really ejoyed the steakhouse and French, both superior quality food, tenderloin, chateaubriand, and lamb all cooked to specifications. Had a teriible night at the Italian - hoping they were just having an off night for service and food.

Brought the netbook with us and used the wireless internet in the lobby every day. It is $3 for an hour, too bad one could not log in and out until the time ran out, once you logged in, you had to use the hour. The main computer server was having difficulties assigning IP addresses, so the connection kept disconnecting. Not a big deal for me, being an IT teacher, but it was getting frustrating for other guests. Someone from hotel IT came and set all our computers to a static IP address. After that, no problems with the connection. So, if you plan to bring a computer, this is something you might want to keep in mind. Used Skype to call home every day, video and sound worked well.

Lots of space to hang out in the upper and lower lobby bars. I think the bartenders enjoyed making their cocktails, or coming up with something special for you. No lack of alcohol in the drinks.

Never spent any time at the pool, so cannot comment on that area.

Beach was slightly crowded, the only place we found that way. We were not early risers, so were never able to get a palapa. We were able to find a good location by some palm trees though, that gave us shade mid-day. Ocean was good in front of the hotel. Only one day of seaweed. Seemed to be more in front of the Colonial. For breakfast, preferred to eat at the beach restaurant. It really isn't continental, as described in hotel brochure. You can get hot food, but it doesn't start serving until 10:30. Lunch, we preferred at the main buffet instead of the beach, just a bigger selection. It was nice to have that snack later in the day though, at the beach. Grab a piece of pizza, a burger or nachos at 5:30 since we usually didn't go for supper until 8:30.

Did not take in any of the theatre shows, but the courtyard entertainment from 6:30 until 9:30 was great.

Check out went smoothly. The hotel has locked luggage storage. No problem getting stuff later in the day and using their courtesy shower area - big private showers, towels, toiletries supplied.

At the main entrance to the Majestic Resorts, there is a market area, about a 10 - 15 minute walk. We saved probably 35% by dealing there instead of buying things at the hotel shops. Closest place for barter shopping. Nothing else close by.

Overall, a great experience. Did not let little things get to us. We booked because the resort was on sale, so it was the only way we could have afforded to stay here. Glad we did.

I read every review for about 6 months prior to our trip, and let me tell you I was a little worried by some of the negative comments. My husband and I have 2 small kids and we really needed to get away, relax, have fun. We went to the Royal in Playa del Carmen last year, so I can compare the 2 resorts.
Arrival: I felt very safe in DR, as opposed to Mexico. Not as many locals trying to grab your bags from you at the airport, etc. The commute to the resort was quick and easy. Check in was fast. we were Elegance Club, so we had a "special" check in (chanpagne, etc.)
We were given a quick tour and brought to our room.
Rooms: Beautiful! We were in the building farthest away form the elegance section of the beach (If you're a beach person try to get into the other building). AC worked fine, no shower troubles, fridge stocked everyday etc. Things get a bit damp, but that happens everywhere.
Elegance Club: A real perk is the elegance club lounges located by the pools. Here you will find computers, lots of fresh snacks all day, water, magazines, books etc.
Restaurants: We ate at all the restaurants except for the japanese. the food is ok. Not fabulous, but good. The service was not great. they were friendly, but you were very rushed. A couple of times we got our appetizers before our drinks!
Beach: AMAZING!!! We did not have one cloud in the sky for the whole week and it was HOT. I'm a sun lover, and it was almost too hot for me. I had to get up every morning between 6:30-7am and leave our towels on 2 chairs under the shade, otherwise they are all gone. Trust me, everyone else is doing it too. I usually wear factor 15 sunscreen, and this past week I wore 50, and had to reapply!!
There are some pretty good waves, so pack a good bathing suit if you want to play.
Pool: Also beautiful. we brought some blow up flots which was nice.
Entertainment: Good, we saw a few shows. They start at 10pm, so if you are looking for something to do before that check out the Colonial next door around 7pm. It seemed alot more lively at that time.
If I could compare the ME to the Royal in Mexico i would say that the serviice was better at the Royal, as was the food. but the beach and entertainment at the ME was better.
I will most definately return to Punta Cana, but try a new resort just to mix it up.

We went back to Punta Cana for a trip after being in DR this past October, at Dreams Palm Beach. I wish the only thing we could have changed about our stay this visit was the food. This hotel should check out Dream's restaurants, and see how they are set up etc., to make this a hotel a five star. The hotel itself was beautiful in every way. Rooms were very nice with great comfy beds, beach was fabulous, entertainment was great (Michael Jackson, and the Circus especially). The food was lacking because the food repeats through out the entire resort. Mostly the food you get at the a' la carte restaurants, you can get either at the buffet or at one or all the other restaurants. Too much overlap. Second, food should be prepared the way it should be. Examples are caesar salad should be made with romaine lettuce not head lettuce, brushetta bread should be made with tomatoes, basil and garlic/oil and cheese, not vegetables with cheese (tasted like vegetable soup), onion soup tasted like gravy and it should have cheese on it. When the waiter was asked to have the kitchen put some cheese on it, they said "it can't be done", but yet they have cheese to put on other dishes. No deviation allowed. Chateau Briand should be available at the French restaurant, surprised we had to get it at the Steakhouse. (the country music played there all the time also not a great idea...it cheapens the experience) Also the beach buffet would often have line ups to be seated. Clearly there was enough staff to clear the empty tables and to be reset, and this was not being done. Staff would walk over to take drink orders and walk past the same tables needing to be cleared a dozen times empty handed. Cutlery was always an issue. If you needed a fork or a spoon, unless you stole one from another table or tried really hard to get staff to get you one, they were nowhere to be found. Having owned a restaurant myself, this is really simple to fix. Have spots up along the buffet where people can get their own if they need to find the cutlery. Also pre-wrap the knife and forks in the napkins so when the staff has to clear and reset the tables, it's quick. Afterall this is "buffet" not a' la carte.
Enough said about the food. Just check out Dreams for their food and decor or restaurants etc.
Spa was very beautiful. We did the couples massage and it was very good. Too late in the evening so unfortunately we missed out on using the whirlpool afterwards which was part of the massage. We could have used it the next day but we were flying home.
We did use our butler for the jacuzzi to be filled up twice with bubble bath and champagne and rose petals. Nice touch. We did also use the room service (free to us being in the Elegance Club section upgrade) and it was very good.
Beach is beautiful but I do feel they need about 25 to 30 more huts on the beach. Every morning unless you were up early before 7 am you can forget getting one. Used the Bali beds around the private pool was very nice, made our own canopy with the side panels. Internet area was also handy.
We went deep sea fishing and were lucky to catch four fish. Two were Mahi Mahi and the other were Marlins. Great day but very rough.
Weather was fabulous. Transfer to and from hotel was great, and check in went smooth but we had to wait until 3:30 pm for our room.
We booked through Nolitours and I do have to let them know we waited almost one hour and 45 minutes for our bags to come off the plane when we arrived in Punta Cana. And I don't mean just us, 3/4's of the entire plane. And nobody to explain why or what was going on.
All aside we did enjoy our stay, but I feel these things the hotel should consider, as they are easy fixes to making this hotel top notch as it has all the makings of being a five star, just needs better management on these issues.
