We have stayed in many all inclusive resorts, including other Iberostar Resorts Iberostar Grand Hotel Bavaro rates as number one in our book. The grounds transport you to a Tropical Garden Paradise, the room was well appointed with a beautiful view of endless ponds and tropical plants. The food at the buffet was plentiful in quantity, quality and variety, the specialty restaurants provided a variety of cuisines, all of which offered sufficient specialty items to choose from. The service was nothing shy of impeccable from the most attentive, thoughtful and pleasant employees no matter what their role. Our housekeeper kept our room well stocked with towels and toiletries, and extremely clean, our room was spotless. Special thanks to Kerlin who made sure we were well hydrated on the beach, Ricardon and Gleny just two of our many gracious servers. Unlike many resorts the beach lounges and palapas were plentiful, if you got there early in the morning your choice was the best. Your hospitality made our stay a special one, thank you.

Room Tip: No need to upgrade room, garden view was magnificent.

we live in NY--Long Island-- we travel 1 to 6 times a year and eat out often..at least once a yr to a Caribbean all inclusive resort. This was far and away the nicest, best service and food we have ever received. The resort actually has people all around to help and answer questions, especially in the evening. They almost all speak excellent English except for the gardeners and house keepers who do a great job because it is really clean, the property is immaculately kept , rooms, restaurants, buffet and beach are clean as can be. This resort offers butler service--different type of service then the honeymooners butler service offered at a Sandals for example--here you share the day butler and evening butler with your whole floor. They take specific information you want for your room, restaurants etc. We asked for rum, coke, vodka and waters to be stocked in our mini bar and it was!-Romeo and Hernandez did a great job for us--Romeo changed some dinner reservation times for us with no issue...to be clear they (butlers) are not with you all the time--they check in with you during your stay--check your needs etc--this is not one butler to a couple service--but it is great to have and they work hard and try to please you as best they can! The resort has beautiful property--beach was big, lots of pallapas---beach huts to lay under and out of the sun--you do have to get to the beach in morning to get your spot for the day--we prefer the beach to the pool but around the pool there are many (40 or so) covered beds with curtains for privacy or to block the sun as well as a ton of lounges( some in the pool--most on the side ). Restaurants include Japanese Hibachi grill--tied for best of the restaurants with the Surf n Turf restaurant-- real filet Mignon , porterhouse steaks, strip steaks, seafood towers etc--excellent but please don't expect this to rival Peter Lugars or Prime--your in the Caribbean!! Lobster was offered at both lunch and dinner buffet--which was great--egg station of course, pasta station, fresh breads, fruits, fresh fruit drinks--cereals--cold cuts for the Europeans! They also have a crepe station--don't see that to often and fresh carved -- like in Spain and next to it a fresh ham carved as well---heaven is here!- Kerlin was a great server at the beach for us--he called us family--we were 4 people--he works hard in the sun and made sure we were" hydrated adequately" with water and drinks!!--Kerlin is great!! Judy was fantastic helping us check in after a long trip and one person who really stood out to us was a butler named Frandy---he was so nice, helpful--he started talking to us one night---offered to help us and checked if we needed anything and he was not even our butler! Frandy is what this place is all about--classy, friendly, helpful--if you get him as your butler you are very lucky. Another person who helped us at the beach buffet was Ricardon--he was friendly and worked very hard and had my "drink " ready the minute we walked into the buffet. It is a all inclusive but we do tip the servers and restaurant staff accordingly to the service we received and a few dollars goes a long way. Overall...if you are thinking of the spot....don't think--" Book It " you will not regret it---oh--did I mention you have access to sister properties via golf cart next door-- a small, small Casino-- also nice 18 hole golf course on property that was beautiful and challenging.There is also room service--we got coffee delivered each morning and most importantly it was hot and on time!-Also at 10 pm each evening except for Wednesday--they have a hour long show in the theatre as well as live music near the lobby bar and on the ship that doubles as a sports bar on the property in the center of property--and they keep the kids out when they walk in from the beach with the parents from the sister properties. GO! GO! GO!

Room Tip: ask for the interior property view--better then the back swim up rooms

The staff was very friendly, always eager to help. As a family of 8, we never had issues of being seated together, or doing any activity together. The Yoga instructor was sensational. Half of our group had never experienced yoga before, she was very helpful at getting us to a point of truly enjoying it. Each of us looked forward to our daily yoga workouts. The beaches and the grounds were amazing. Eager to return,

We came here for our 10th anniversary, and all we can say is WOW! From the second your door opens from the cab you are treated like royalty. The staff, food and drinks are spectacular. The beach and pool are so relaxing, its absolutely wonderful how the staff wait on you no matter where you are. Our butler Dawel went above and beyond for my husband and I on our anniversary. From champagne to roses on our bed and bathtub filled with bubbles and rose pedals. Extremely romantic and a memory we will cherish forever.

We had an excellent stay at the Grand Bavaro in celebration of our 40th wedding anniversary. All of the staff was very friendly and both of our butlers, Raphael and William, did an outstanding job, especially with special touches to make our stay more memorable. We had dinner at three of the four restaurants on the property and were very satisfied with the food and service. While the resort was almost fully occupied, it never seemed crowded and had a very relaxed vibe. The beach is great for walking. A word to the wise: get to the beach or pool early to "reserve" places to sit. Our room, and the place, in general, is very clean and well-maintained. We especially liked the ocean view from our balcony where we enjoyed a glass of wine before dinner from the bottle provided each night by our butler. Bottom line, our trip went without a hitch and will recommend the Grand Bavaro to friends and family.
