The hotel is beautiful and the rooms are large and comfortable. The beach is lovely and the pool area is quite nice. Service can be a bit slow but this is the Caribbean.

Of note, the food is passable at best. Although there are several restaurants that require reservation, they are not appreciably superior. There are also not enough chairs around the pool so you have to grab one very early.

This place is more suited for families with little children. If you're: single, married couple or unmarried couple, you may want to think twice about going here. Although we did witness several weddings, (the setting is gorgeous), overall, there are kids everywhere. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but I would have preferred more of an adults theme. The next biggest problem is: The Food! It was terrible. The buffet food: although plentiful, was dried out, fish full of bones, meat overcooked, bad tasting sauces, dried out and hard bread, terrible coffee, bad service at the restaurants and almost impossible to get reservations with a group of 5 or more. The desserts at the restaurants and the buffets, are the same. They don't change anywhere. There are no Maitre D's at the restaurants, (who speak languages other than Spanish), walking around asking if everything is okay. Our food was messed up at the three restaurants we did eat at, with no one to complain to. The waiters/waitresses, don't speak English. Yes, we did get reservations. They were very late, and we had to split up our group. Although we did see other larger groups together. Maybe they knew how to communicate with the concierge. Our room was nice, although two of our pillows had an off odor. The view was nice. One of our friends room had a very distinct musty smell. I would not have stayed there. The other friends, were first placed in a family room on the third floor. No elevator. They refused and were then placed on the first floor. Okay room, no sitting area. Upon checkin, there was very little eye contact. We were checking in three rooms, ours was not ready. We had to wait 45 minutes. I asked for an upgrade and was told it would be $180 per night. However, there were advertisements everywhere in the hotel for a $250, one time upgrade fee. ????????? I don't get it. I didn't push it. Upon check in, we were tired and hungry. They force you to listen to a sales pitch about paying for activities. I just wanted to get to my room, change my clothes and get food. Entertainment was okay, but the waitress came only once to provide us with drinks. We had to get up and get the rest ourselves, while she concentrated on other areas to serve. This happened time and again. Bottom line, because of the bad service, bad food and way too many kids (i happen to love kids, but not on my caribbean vacation), Go Elsewhere. Stay away from here.

Room Tip: Book the restaurants as soon as you get there.

My husband and I traveled here on our honeymoon 6/2-6/7. We had an amazing time. It's truly a beautiful resort and the staff members are so friendly. If you are going on your honeymoon, email them a few weeks in advance and ask for the complimentary honeymoon package. It includes a bottle of champaign in your room, chocolate, honeymoon T-shirts, and a free room upgrade (we got moved to beach front). You have to take a copy of your marriage license (we took our keepsake copy) but they don't really look at it. This resort is closest to the airport so depending on your transportation you get dropped off first which is nice after a long day of traveling. It was very overwhelming at first (we had never been to an all-inclusive before), and while the staff was very helpful, we still weren't 100% sure what was included and what you had to pay for (French restaurant, Wi-Fi, premium beverages). Once we got the hang of it though we really enjoyed ourselves and can't wait to go back!

Check-in: We arrived at the resort at about 9 PM. Because of this, we were the only ones checking in which was nice. The whole process only took about 10 minutes and then the bell boy got our luggage and took us to our room. On the way he gave us a little tour of the resort which was very helpful.

Room: Our room was fantastic. We aren't really picky or complainers as we figured we wouldn't be in the room very much. Regardless, there wasn't really anything to complain about. There was plenty of space for the two of us, with a King bed, a sofa, and spacious patio. The hot tub was great, as soon as we figured out how to work it. (The instructions are on the outside of the tub, but we first used it when it was dark out so didn't see them.) We were on the first floor and if I have one negative thing to say it is that we were woken up in the mornings by housekeeping carts rolling around on the walkways above us. The mini-fridge was great and it was nice to always have something to drink if we wanted.

Beach: The beach was great. So clean and the water was amazing. There were plenty of chairs, we never had to look for very long before we found two together. Even in the afternoon. We found it handy to bring our insulated 32oz mugs along with us. There is no beach service so every morning we would go get our towels and fill up our mugs at the nearby pool bar (Coco Bar) before heading to the beach. It worked out great and we had a lot of people ask us where we got the mugs.

Pool: We probably spent most of our time in the pool. We chose the pool with the swim up bar. When booking, I was semi nervous that because the resort wasn't adults only, the pool would be crawling with loud and splashing kids. That was not the case at all. It seemed as if most of the kids stayed in the pool closest to the buffet or at the waterpark. It was great! The pool was never crowded and we could always find a spot in the loungers or the "bubble pool" as I liked to call it near the bar. The swim-up bar was so convenient and Angel the bartender was so friendly and made the best drinks. I had heard things about the drinks being weak, but that was definitely not the case. Angel was super friendly and always provided great service. We went to Juan a few times for his "special drink". (Blended chocolate cherry drink he makes for couples with your initials on the top.) The drink was good and Juan is so friendly, but he is so popular that it takes awhile to get his attention. We found Angel to be our "go-to" guy.

Food: The food at the buffets was "so-so". We always found something to eat, but it wasn't something I craved. We enjoyed the food the most at the sports bar buffet. Hoyo 19 was also great, but we only ate breakfast there and cannot attest to lunch or dinner. We made reservations at the Italian, Mexican, and Japanese restaurants. The Italian was okay, but we liked the Mexican and Japanese the best. We sat at the grill table at both and the service was great. Make sure to get desert! So good!

Entertainment: We only went to one show, the Michael Jackson show. It was good and they have drink service walking around which was nice.

I'm missing it more as I write this...can't wait to return!

Room Tip: Our room in Building 3 was perfect for us. Not too far of a walk from the main building, but far eno...

Went with my wife, daughter, and wife's cousin and cousin's husband. One word..Beautiful!! The resort was top notch. Beach is one of the top ten beaches in the world for a reason. It's all-inclusive, so anything that isn't motorized is included.
They have a kid show early evening then show for the adults after. Not groundbreaking but entertaining to say the least.
All shops either take pesos or credit card. No American cash, but you can charge to your room and pay cash when you check out.
Buffet was so-so but did the job. At dinner you have your choice of restaurants( steakhouse, Japanese, Spanish as in Spain, sea-food, and Mexican. All restaurant were good.
Finally, the people are so nice and friendly. Never had an issue except when we were on our way back. It was airport staff taking your bags and just standing there till you tipped them.
Overall, excellent trip and definitely going back!!

I had an amazing experience here. I couldnt have asked for better service. One of the waiters, Yatzenky Michel, was amazing. He was so polite and helpful. I couldn't have asked for anything better.
He was very attentive and worked with a lot of urgency. He really made me feel like I was very well taken care of. One of our waitresses was specially helpful as well. Neudi always worked with a smile and was very enthustiastic about helping us out. She made me feel like she really cared about our comfort, i thank her for that. They both defenetly made my experience here flawless. overall i would defenetly come back to this resort for vacationing.

My family of 5, (husband and three daughters) all vacationed here in July 2013. The resort is beautiful, the beach: breathtaking and the water crystal clear blue, the best I have ever seen.
Did two excursions: took a pirate like ship to swim with sting rays, nurse sharks and snorkel: geat trip, lots of fun. Also, went off roading in some type of quade: great trip. Also try the banana boat rides; lots of fun. Rooms were very nice, spacious and well maintained Despite this and it's unbelievable beauty it has many flaws that must be mentioned.
1. FOOD: Whe stayed for 7 nights, but upon arrrival were only given 4 dinner reservation tickets the speciality restuartants. This was it! Couldnt make more than 4 reservations during a seven night stay. On top of this , the times that were available were very late: one night 10:30. Yeah, 3 kids on the beach or pool all day, by 10:30 we are passed out. We did get to eat at the steak, mexican and asian restuarants. the best was the asian. The buffet was hit or miss. At best it was just OK, but other times it was awful. The sports bar food was discusting. There is a restuarant at the golf course; try it; it was ok but we had a long long wait the night we went.
2. WATER PARK: two waterparks available. One for little kiddies like 5 or below. Very nice and included in the price. Bar right there, this I enjoyed. But the larger water park was a 20 dollar charge EACH DAY. And those resort credits; almost useless. We did get 10 bucks off a few tickets one day. This waterpark should of been included. It wasn't even that big or nice. A wave pool, and a few slides. We went to Beaches in Ochos Rios Jamaica and their waterpark blew this one away and was included; hence : all inclusive.
3. The palce is huge: get a room in the 500s or you will be walking, walking walking. Too big for my liking.
All in all, it was a nice vacation but I would not recommend the barceo bavero palace deluxe due to the above issues. If you choose to go, Im sure you will enoy it and have lots of fun. Oh btw, watch out for the drivers; crossing a cross walk one evening coming back from the golf course restaurant my 7 year old was almost hit by a car.
