I hate to write negative reviews and that is not my intention here, but simply writing to let people know what to expect. If this is your first all-inclusive, it should be pleasing. But if you have other all-inclusive's with which to compare, you may be disappointed.

This resort is about a 2.5, maybe a 3. The food was awful. Believe what others wrote. Nothing had flavor, not even desserts. And I broke out in pimples for days, something that never happens to me.

Rooms were clean, no complaints. We had an ocean view.

Like others said, watch out for the timeshare folks. While we were waiting to be checked in, a man dressed in a white shirt and black pants with a name tag approached us to welcome us to Punta Cana. He was with the timeshare place affiliated with that hotel and they conveniently have a desk right at the reception area. These folks are super nice because they want you to give an hour of your time to listen about their destination timeshares and in return will offer you a free gift. I won't say the name of our guy but he pursued us for two days around the resort, onto the beach, begging us to give an hour for him and his job. We did not. After two days he finally disappeared and I never saw him again. So watch out for these folks. They are not with the hotel per se and though friendly are quite insistent.

The only music they ever seemed to play was depressing old pop songs (Rod Stewart, Led Zeppelin, Journey, the Beatles) in an orchestral style. Rarely any local music or reggae. The towel shack is only open from 9-6. And the wifi is quite sporadic, and slow when it is connected. Not that we should be terribly concerned since it is vacation but that is an issue for people so I mention it.

Of course there were positives:

Our Vacation Express reps were very helpful, non-harassing, informative. We did a tour to Isla Saona which we highly recommend. We went with Nexus Tours and they were fantastic. It was definitely the highlight of our trip. Employees at the hotel were friendly enough. I, like them, would be a little cranky too, having to watch tourists and their ignorance day after day, such as people sticking their heads into the pots of soup at the buffet to get a whiff despite there being signage, or people not tipping (not an obligation of course but it's a nice thing to do for the workers who are serving you). The beach was lovely but lots of seaweed, not anyone's fault but they do try to clear it daily. And there are peacocks and iguanas which are really cool to see (and hear).

We would not return here. We did enjoy our time and it cured our lack of spring in the northeast but I think in the future we'll spend a little more and stay somewhere else. It just depends on what you're looking for in your vacation.

Dear Guest,

Greetings from Vista Sol Punta Cana.

Thank you very much for your comment and for highlighting our cleanness., our Hotel values all of our guest and any feedback that is provided. We will keep working on it, to improve day by day.

We deeply regret that our gastronomic offer did not meet your expectations. Our hotel offers a wide variety both in our bars (7), buffet (1) and the specialty restaurants (4) with the aim of meeting the culinary demands of different cultures who visit us. As a company focused on service, we are aware that it is thanks to the valuable comments from our customers that we can continue working for the optimization and improvement of our services.

Regarding to the internet, there is basic and free Wi-Fi connection in the Show Area / Theater 24 hours a day. If the guest wishes to have a connection in any other area of the hotel or in the room itself, he / she has the possibility of obtaining the Premium service by paying the corresponding amount depending on the option chosen. This information is published in different languages and places (reception, lobby, theater, information brochure, etc.). These rates vary depending on the number of days you wish to connect to the internet. We regret possible inconveniences.

Please note that the features (technical, economic etc.) can be different depending of the country. The level of development is not the same. This is decisive and influential in all operational processes.

It is important to mention that as a completely independent and externalized service, it is possible to find Timeshare and Vacation Club commercials. However, these collaborators are not Vista Sol Punta Cana staff. There is simply a commercial agreement.

We look forward to welcoming you back very soon.

Sincerely,

Macarena Peña

Our air conditioner I. Our room does not work. Told by front desk it is a problem in our entire building. We requested a king bed. Only have rooms with two full size beds. There was no bolt lock on the door. Again front desk told us they will send a technician. Room is hotter inside then sitting in the sun. We had two towels. No wash clothes. Telephone does not work so you can’t all housekeeping. Requested a shower chair for my husband who is an amputee and was told to take the chair form the patio to use. The food is awful, difficult to get reservations at the restaurants unless who stand in line for 20-30 minutes. Limited alcohol and could not make any drinks except those 9 that are on their menu. Would never come back here or recommend it to anyone I know.

Dear Guest,

Greetings from Vista Sol Punta Cana.

Thank you very much for your comment, our Hotel values all of our guest and any feedback that is provided. We will keep working on it, to improve day by day.

Our rooms are subject to daily revisions from our maintenance and housekeeping departments; however, there might be situations that can arise during our guests stay. We deeply regret your room was supposedly affected by some maintenance or housekeeping issues and as a result you may have obtained a negative impression of our services.

At breakfast, lunch and dinner time we offer to our guests a wide variety and fresh selection of vegetables, legumes, fruits, juices, fish, seafood, meat, pastries and more. It's important to mention that there are 4 theme nights weekly at the buffet (50% of the total gastronomy selection are typical and traditional plaits): *Dominican (Monday) * Spanish (Thursday) *Gala (Friday) *Italian (Sunday). However, quality is a subjective concept.

Vista Sol Punta Cana is an All Inclusive resort. Absolutely! As an additional service besides our All Inclusive offer, there is available a premium selection of international drinks and gastronomy (with an additional charge) which is completely optional to those who ask for it.

In relation to our reservation system for thematic restaurants (9 / 10AM + 17H / 18H), we regret not having been able to satisfy your requirements. Depending on the occupation, availability and number of overnight stays, a specific number of reservations is guaranteed to each guest.

We look forward to welcoming you back very soon.

Sincerely,

Macarena Peña

Our stay here was a great getaway for a spring vacation.
The hotel and grounds are kept great with many walkways to explore. The birds and iguanas were a nice touch.
We were in the VIP section and highly recommended if you want quiet and Bali beds away from crowds and kids.
Rooms are spacious..clean and a fantastic view. The beach had a great deal of washed up seaweed that looked bad and stayed for days.
It also had a great beach snack bar filled with burgers..chicken..pizza..cheesefries and the only coke machine on the property (rest of resort is pepsi).
Specialty restaurants were goid..italian needs a bit of improvement food wise but the Mexican and gourmet were outstanding!
Buffet was exactly what you expect..practically same foods every night..some minor changes but you won't go hungry.
Overall we would recommend this resort and would return.

We arrived back in Manchester UK on Tuesday after three weeks holiday. To be honest this was not our picked resort. Thomas Cook changed our resort. Still not sure why. But having seen our original resort I'm glad they did.
So what did I think. Beautiful resort. It's well laid out. Main reception is on the road and pools and room blocks work there way down to the beach. There is loads of beautiful plants, well kept lawns (disgusted that some people couldn't keep to the amply supplied paths and climbed over the hedges to take short cuts). On the beach is water sport zone with loads to do. Also a bar and towel bar. The sports bar /snack bar is there too with the Mexican and Italian restaurants. Now for those who enjoy a drink if your drinking beer, you can also get it in the snack aswel as beach bar so no need to queue. Talking about the beach, now one pet peez. We can not control the weather and I've noticed that some reviews have complained about sea grass. Out at sea storms kick up the grass and yes unfortunately it washes up on the beach. Its like a carpet some days. But the sea is still beautiful to go in. Just walk through the weed and it's lovely. Vista sol big hands up to the lads trying to clear it. The last few days they had a tractor clearing it. So they are trying to clean it up.
The rooms are nice. You get what you pay for. We up graded to a Seaview room. The view was fantastic. Room number 5406. Pleeease rember to deposit toilet paper in the bin provided. To our shame and ignorance we had to have the toilet unblocked. Yes the aircon is not the best. But persevere for a day and the room does cool down.
Know pet peez number two. The dom rep is third world country.. So please remember that they have limited food resources. They are not very big in junk food. So when you book any of the a la carte restaurants you will get local food cooked in either Italian, Mexican styles. It will not be like you buy at home. The gourmet is like a internal theme beautiful ribeye steak. The American grill is like a fast food American diner. I loved the simplicity of it. A wholesome sandwich with fries brilliant. The one down side is the buffet. But I think I've been spoilt at other holiday hotels. The buffet did not do a hugely vast choice of food. Don't get me wrong the food choices was good but not as much variety. But I did not go hungry.
People complain about the staffs lack of smiles and customer service. I found if you say hello to them or a hola with a smile got me smiles and the same back.
Our great rep Miguel from Thomas Cook was great. Got loads of laughs, smiles and hugs. Great guy.
Do some excursions. Get out do some shopping. Use the hotel shuttles.
Overall a brilliant holiday. You will never find a perfect holiday resort because we all want different things and expectations differ.
Would I go back it's a big yes. Would I recommend vista sol yes.
So can I say here to all the chamber maids, waitresses, barmen, chefs and reception staff thank you. You work hard. Keep up the good work and thank you for a great holiday

All in all an amazing location, especially when you have booked a junior suite direct on the beach.
Modern and comfortable rooms with breathtaking views. Very good cocktails. The food in the a la carte restaurants (Italian , Mexican and Gourmet) is much better than in the main restaurant. Very good cocktails and drinks. Friendly and helpfull staff.
Best beach section of Bavaro Beach.
