“Beautiful, Unique Hotel”
Reviewed 15 April 2014

This countryside hotel is absolutely beautiful, and clearly built/planned with care. The rooms/main lodge are gorgeous, predominantly wood and very clean/modern feeling with spectacular views across the water to Castro. The property is huge, with carefully tended gardens (I think the chef uses veggies grown in it!), walking paths, and view points. The rooms are super private so you feel totally alone. Our room was very modern, comfortable and beautifully decorated with local artisan rugs, and had great views. The main lodge was my favorite- a huge round fireplace to sit around with a cocktail, and then beautiful views from the warm dining area. The included meals are incredible, and the chef would come out to talk to us and share his enthusiasm for local ingredients and cuisine. We came on our honeymoon, and the entire staff was so sweet and accommodating- even gave us free champagne on our arrival! Everyone here was wonderful. This place is a total gem.

This hotel is a gem! We spent 3 nights at this lovely, small hotel and loved it! It is a peaceful, lovely location in the countryside. The room we stayed in was a two-story casita with a huge plate glass window overlooking the hills with sheep grazing and the town of Castro in the distance. The staff is outstanding---especially the fabulous chef Carlos. He creates wonderful dinners that were the best we had in all of Chile.

This almost new hotel is a bit out of the way but well worth the trip. The hilltop location offers great viewsof Castro and the surrounding countryside. The property is large enough for walking and roaming. The rooms are elegant in their simplicity allowing the view to be the focus. Yonnie, the manager has done an excellent job in training the staff and maintaining a first class hotel. The restaurant served excellent diners and the continental breakfast's were more than ample.

A brand new outfit with a beautiful, dramatic hillside view of the fiord and the town of Castro on the opposite side. The location shows the town, and the entire island really, to its best advantage. The architecture of the totally new, freestanding and eco-oriented structures comprising the hotel complex is most pleasing and effective. They have stressed innovative design and done it successfully.

My husband and I spent tree nights at the Centro de Ocio Hotel in November 2013. This is an exceptionally wonderful place with outstandingly interesting architecture, simple but luxurious rooms and amazing views of the fiords and palfitos of Castro. The in house restaurant was excellent and the service completely attentive. We had a marvelous time and would come back in a heartbeat.

I stayed with a friend at Hotel Centro de Ocio for 2 nights in January…we didn't want to leave! Even on the approach by gravel road, we knew we were in for a treat. The location is spectacular. Perched on a hill overlooking the water and with a beautiful view of Castro across the channel, Hotel Centro de Ocio is a delight for the senses. The beauty of the place extended to the hotel itself -- truly a masterpiece of environmental design. From the design of the rooms, to the tasteful wood and stone materials, and down to the uniquely designed furniture, Hotel Centro de Ocio was clearly a labor of love of the owners. The place has a "feel" to it that is special. From the first moment we walked in, we felt welcomed into the home of old friends. From Yonni's (manager) recommendations on what to explore on Chiloe island to the out-of-this-world culinary creations of Carlos (the chef), down to the helpful tips and conversations with Valeria and the rest of the staff, Hotel Centro de Ocio gave me one of the most memorable vacation experiences of my life. I've never been motivated to write a TripAdvisor review until now. Gracias, Hotel Centro de Ocio!

Room Tip: We stayed in a suite, "Viento" - 2 levels and a spacious sun deck overlooking the water. G...

What a fantastic project! I travel a lot but have only ever written one Tripadviser review until now, because only once was I excited enough to make the effort. The accommodation and attention we received here was definitely worth the effort.

The rooms and buildings are all local timber, beautifully done, and with spectacular views of the countryside and of Castro just across the fiord. We stayed in the main building so that we could get wifi in our room, but I understand that the separate cabins will be getting wifi soon. We had a look at some new suites just being completed while we were there and they are quite spectacular.

Although Castro is close across the water, it is actually about 10 km or so away by road, but there are good signposts along the way.

A big attraction is the food. The chef, Carlos, likes to use simple, fresh, local ingredients and produced a couple of the best meals of our 4-week visit to Chile. (I suspect he will one day be known as a star Chilean chef, if he isn't already.) Carlos, Yonni (the manager) and the other staff were all great - not slick, but genuinely attentive and helpful

We were a bit put off at first by the price of rooms as shown on Tripadvisor, but decided to visit and ask about them and found out that the prices quoted included dinner. Definitely worth it

Room Tip: Have a look at the suites. You get a lot for the extra cost
