“A bit run down”
Reviewed 20 May 2013

The location of the bungalows is excellent, really next to the park and this is why we chose to stay here. But the place is quite dusty, run down, very dark and sometimes even dirty. The hosts are nice and the food was simple but good. It was fine for one night, but I'm not sure I could have stayed longer. Shower had not a lot of running water. Overall ok, depending on your expectations.

My husband & I stayed at Tangkoko Dove Villas last Lebaran (August 2012). the accommodation is quite basic, as you would expect at a national park. the owner's wife cooks herself & this combined with fresh seafood from manado, makes a very delicious meal. The owners are very friendly & provided us free transportation to/fro the national park entrance.
i would definitely stay there again!

Room Tip: ask for the newly renovated rooms

We arrived on christmas day and stayed two nights. We were the only guests at that time. The villas was nice but the cleaning could have been better. The food was very good but was not included in the price. However there were not other choice than to eat here since there were no other restaurant nearby. And we had to pay full price for the children. The owner was very friendly and the guide that was provided to us was also very nice. The owner lent his scooter to us so we could take a trip to enjoy the fantastic view.

We had a warm and friendly welcome here.
The Villa's are owned by a small family and they will do lots to make your stay special. The electricity can be used between 18.00 and 22.00 but after that you just want to sleep as being out doors wears you out :-)
From the villa's you can go easily into Tangkoko and enjoy all the nature.

P.s. don't forget you insect repellent, normal/gym shoes & (linnen) trousers!

Quite new, the Tangkoko Dove Villas is situated at a few kilometers of the Jungle Reserve entrance. The staff is really friendly and a car with driver is always available to take you to the jungle or the beach (for free) (and pick you up!).
The bungalows are nice and comfortable and the place quiet (electricity is avalaible from 5pm to 10pm). For sure our stay there was one of the highlight of our trip in Sulawesi. You can book treks in the jungle with local guides working the staff : easy to see tarsiers, yaki (endemic Macaques of Tangkoko), or spot many tropical birds (more difficult to see he Kuskus).
The beach is quiet, beautiful (with white and black sand) and it's really easy to snorkel directly from the beach on a nice reef.
This is the place in Indonesia where we met the nicest people as staff. Aa really good place that we warmly recommand.
You can eat there for roughly 50000 IDR and the food is really good.
It's possible to do a dolphin tour at the sunrise, but be careful the place is focused on jungle trips and it can be difficult to find a fisherman. So before wake up at 4.30am check with your guide or the owner that, indeed, you have a boat available.

Oidy and Eva go to great lengths to make your stay a rewarding Minahasan experience, as do the onsite staff/family who work here. The villas are a short drive from the village however you are given use of their driver to take you down whenever you wish to go.The rooms are very comfortable and the food is good home style cooking.
Beware of guides asking crazy prices, ie rp 300,000 per person. We paid 85,000 per person for 2 hrs finishing at jungle beach where Oidy's driver picked us up. We were told we may not see the macaques in this time frame  but we took our chances and saw loads. It seems they can usually be found down towards the jungle beach. We also saw tarsiers, hornbill (amazing)  kingfishers and more. Please, when you see the tarsiers be kind and don't use your flash, and encourage your guide not to either.
