Description: The Skillet Restaurant at the Ozark Folk Center State Park is nestled atop a wooded Ozark hill. Large windows in the glass-enclosed, natural cedar and stone dining room frame the view of the surrounding butterfly garden. Featuring wildlife feeding stations and a water garden, it is frequented by birds, raccoons, foxes, and an occasional bear. While taking in this natural scenery outside, enjoy the tasty Southern country menu, weekend buffets, and numerous Herbal Event Meals designed around recipes by special, guest gourmet foods experts. Our herbal events highlight the use of Fresh Herbs and native plants in their preparation. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner and served daily throughout the regular season. During the off-season, the restaurant opens for specific holidays, special events, and groups. Satisfy your hunger for traditional, Southern country fare, accented by enticing contemporary menu items, here at the Skillet Restaurant.

Food is very good, home-cooked Ozark specialties, but service has been slow every time I have been there. If you want more than one cup of coffee, find another place.

Have eaten here several times, we make it a point to go here on Thanksgiving each year. The restaurant has glass side walls where you feel like you are out in the woods, (which you actually are). You can sit and dine and watch the birds, chipmunks and squirrel's playing. The food has been for the most part good except one occasion. Don't know what the problem was but that one day the ribs were pretty much worthless. Every other time I've been and on Thanksgiving's the food has always been good. The price is $$ to $$$ depending on what you are having. Be sure to check before you go in the winter time as they do close for the season for a minor time. The restaurant is within the Ozark Folk Center complex which is an attraction also in the town of Mountain View. The people are friendly and the area music is magnif' .....

I have eaten at the Skillet Restaurant at the Ozark Folk Center dozens of times over the past thirty years. It is good country cooking. Most recently I ate there a week before Christmas on a Sunday after church. I had the fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy and other items from their buffet. They also have such country standards as beans, greens and cornbread. I've also had meals at several banquets held there going back to a Chamber of Commerce banquet in 1986. They serve good fare other than country cooking.
