Description: The Hampshire Bowman in Dundridge is a traditional country freehouse serving real ales, real ciders and real food all year round. Mark, Chloe and their 2 dogs took over in 2012 and have worked hard to improve the food and the beer without changing the relaxed and informal ethos! We're dog friendly and mobile phone unfriendly. The Bowman is a great unspoilt country pub - we've been in the CAMRA good pub guide for over 20 years. To keep up to date with news from the Bowman, "like" "the hampshire bowman" facebook page. Watch out for interesting Real Ales and Real Ciders from all over the country! We also have draught "Saxon" lager, brewed in Sussex with local ingredients and a wide range of bottled beers from all over the world. Our beer festival is one of the largest independent beer festivals in the south of England and is held over the last weekend in July.

Really great traditional quintessential english pub - great food and atmosphere. This is a must visit, also amazing beer festival in the gardens every year.

This pub is in the middle of nowhere - if you manage to find it you have already made a huge achievement. The location is just perfect, really quiet and just beautiful.

We sat inside and ordered a roast dinner, very basic home-made pub grub which was good. They serve some lovely beers but lack a choice of wine. The atmosphere is relaxed and homey which makes this pub very cosy.

This pub is definitely better in the Summer! The garden is really huge and great for kids. The tables are really spaced out which is really good.

The one thing that lets this pub down is the number of staff, they are such a popular pub the bar queues are very long which can put you off having that one more drink or for us, ordering pudding.

This is now one of our favourite pubs and will be returning again and again!

Hello Vicky, we are so glad that you love our pub so much. I am sorry that you feel our wine selection is limited but we are very much an ale house as you know and we feel that in order to have wine that hasn't been sitting around open for a week at a time it is best to stick to the 10 wines we do by the glass plus the fruit wines and wine by the bottle. If there is something in particular that you would like let us know and we will see what we can do.
Looking forward to seeing you again soon, Mark, Chloe and staff.

Had a good late afternoon visit to Bowman. Swift One was on good form as was 'Tom Cat' a guest beer! Had an excellent meal with my family - liver and bacon, fish and chips, roast pork and lasagne - all well cooked, great value and epic portions! Super friendly pub atmosphere

We have just made our 5th visit to this pub and again it did not disappoint. The food is always very good being home cooked and portions are generous. On this occasion we ordered the chicken and bacon pie which along with the varied selection of perfectly cooked vegetables was excellent. The staff are always very friendly and customer focused too. If you are looking for a good all round country pub surrounded by beautiful countryside and a pleasant garden then this hidden gem is a must.

An impromptu lunchtime visit on a very busy Bank holiday .
Staff clearly under pressure but always pleasant and despite a wait it was worth it as the food was very good and for a reasonable price. Real ale was rather good too .
Would certainly recommend and will be visiting again.
