“Friendliest hotel ever!”
Reviewed 12 February 2013

The staff and owners make this hotel an amazing stay. We stayed for 7 nights and did not want to leave. Everyone was friendly, welcoming and couldn't do enough for you. The rooms were nice and warm, powerful shower, great breakfast, fantastic location with only a 2 minute walk to the main street and a 10 minute walk to the Gondola. James had great knowledge of the area and was always there to give information or advice on places to eat and visit. It was definitely the best place in Bansko and would absolutely stay there again!!

Room Tip: The top floor doesn't get strong wifi but definitely not a problem as the view makes up for it!

Just back from a week at the Avalon. Arrived late on a Sunday Night was greeted by the night porter.(24 hr reception) Got a drink no problem even at this late hour. Rooms warm and basic, very clean and shower was always hot and powerful. Breakfast is continental but more than adequate. Shuttle service to gondola only 45 pence, what more ca i say. Skiing was great, conditions great ques not bad but bear in mind to stay clear of half term!!! Curry night lived up to its reputation. Met a lot of new friends and had my tastebuds revitalised.
The owners James and Vanya where very welcoming and helpful and all staff very pleasant and helpful. Not forgetting the massage after a weeks Skiing. Little over £10 for 1 hour full body massage. You would pay at least £100 at home. All in all a truly memorable stay. Thanks James and the crew. Keep up the good work.Ross, Marcus & Glenn

The staff are lovely the room was huge and the value for money was exceptional. There is a restaurant attached that does a wicked curry night and the best burgers I have ever tasted. Customer service was second to no e and I will certainly be coming back. Recessed 10/10 i hate walking and it's not a long walk into the centre but far out enough that you get a peaceful nights sleep (till the cock and goat wake up next door haha) x

stayed for 4 nights in January as part of group of 7 guys on skiing trip. all I can say is that the hotel, James and his team are excellent. Great value for money during the whole stay. we arrived on a Tuesday which is 241 cocktails night, which a few of our guys took as a personal challenge to work their way through the list. some nearly never made it up next morning for the first day on the slopes. I shared a twin room with a mate and there was plenty of space for both of us to spread our things out. The bathroom was a little unusual with the shower being open with no cubicle, so everything in there got wet. Once you had got your routine sorted, it was not a problem. There was a tv and safe in the room also, free of charge. We ate a few times at the hotel and were never disappointed. The Curry night on Thursday was great, with 6 different types to choose from, or all 6 if you preferred. Plenty to go around if you wanted seconds. Included all the trimmings of naans, onion bahjis, poppadums and chutneys.
In the basement is a sauna and twin bath jacuzzi which helps ease the aching bones after day on the slopes. they also do massages at very reasonable rates.
It is about a 5 minute walk to the main street for bars and restaurants, Pirin Street.
There is a minibus that takes you up to the gondola station at a cost of 1lev each( 45pence ) which is well worth the cost. It will bring you back also after 3pm
Overall, a great hotel for a short break, with a good team to look after you.

A group of seven of us enjoyed a wonderful stay at the Avalon last week. James' hospitality was excellent and he also makes a mean cocktail (Tuesday is 2 for 1 night). The freshly made food was superb, as was the curry night on Thursday. Great value - can't recommend enough.

Just stayed for a couple of nights and was really glad to arrive on curry night which was as amazing as normal. On my second night I decided to stay in the hotel to try the new Burger menu and what a great decision that was! I had the most amazing burger that I have ever eaten and I have had quite a few :)
For those who have not stayed here before the rest of the hotel is also great, really warm and cozy and the hotel staff are all super helpful and friendly.
I can't wait to go back.....

We spent a long weekend at the hotel and we really enjoyed our stay there. The hotel is
located at quite neighborhood, and walking distance from shops and restaurants. The rooms were cozy, clean, and worn. James with his team have done an excellent job making the stay there a memorable experience.
