“Our favorite hotel in Jordan!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 August 2013

One of the best deals in town for a budget couple. Loved the laid-back atmosphere, downstairs lounge, and roof terrace (awesome sunset view from here!) Decor has a whiff of crafty aunt's guest bedroom. Breakfast is a step above other budget options, with cold yogurt, dates, and the occasional pinch of zaatar augmenting the usual fare. Wifi only works in the downstairs lounge, but it's a comfortable and friendly place to hang out. Lonely Planet needs to get it's head out of it's posterior and write this place up!

Room Tip: Rooms at the ends of the hallways have more natural light.

Clean, comfortable, and friendly staff. Value is good as well. 20 min walk uphill from petra and lots to eat close by. Breakfast decent but nothing special. Recommend for budget travellers. Overall good stay.

Room Tip: First floor - gets lobby wifi signal.

This hotel is the best budget hotel we have stayed in during our 2 week adventure in Jordan. The staff, which at the time included 2 English students on a long work holiday, were very helpful and good to talk to.

The breakfast is basic but good and decent fuel for exploring the City of Petra.

The owners also prepare a packed lunch for just 3.5jd which was perfect, especially as the prices in Petra City are inflated once you are through the entrance gates.

We highly recommend this place if you like to feel comfortable for a very good price.

We've had four nights at the Saba'a and each one of them has been wonderful. The staff is helpful, the WiFi is free (but be aware the password changes regularly, due to people outside the hotel stealing it), and the breakfast is no-frills but fresh. Due to its proximity to the main roundabout and two major streets, it can be noisy in the evenings, but nothing that an exhausting day at Petra (or a pair of earplugs) won't cure. The staff are also more than happy to help arrange bus travel or taxi travel throughout Jordan as well.

The owners of Saba's Hotel are really friendly and do everything they can to make you feel comfortable. I stayed in the dorm room within the hotel. This is really a no frills and thrills hotel regarding the dorm room, but in the end I was not expecting this. I was there during the off-season during some crazy snowy, rainy and thunderstorm weather and they were more than accommodating to help guests with the difficulties around this and also to dry clothes out. They showed true concern to help you. The location is pretty good. You are in the middle of the town to get to some places when you are not in Petra. The walk down is not bad to Petra and I found the walk back, although all up hill is doable. The lunch is a good deal and Gail does a nice job in making it. I wish I could have been there in the summer to experience the roof top. The other people who were staying in the dorm room were friendly, trustworthy and fun.

Room Tip: Regarding the dorm room, you get what you pay for. In this regard it is fine.

This friendly place breathes relaxation and it's owner provides great help and service. The entrance to Petra (€50 each) is walkable if you're fit. The walk back up the hill is also walkable if you're very, very fit. Better grab a cab...

Sleeping at Saba'a is less successful. Our bed was of Arabian size. I am 1.8m. and I had to stick my feet through the bars to stretch my legs. The bed was not just shot, but rather run down and quite uncomfortable.
At 4:30AM the first mosque started and at 5AM the next took over. We were surrounded by at least three mosques deferment to deny us sleep.

Anyway, the place is cheap and cheerful. Just don't aim on getting any sleep :)

Hi,
Sorry to hear you didn't sleep too well. The beds are a standard 190cm long, which sleeps most people comfortably, even your 180cm frame should not really have been a problem.
I can't really do much about the mosques, this is a Muslim country and the call to prayer happens at dawn everyday. You would hear it from nearly every hotel in town you stay at in Jordan - ear plugs can help.

Hello, Been staying at Saba's a few days ago. the price was fare and with a good value for money.
The room was clean.meals ok, free WIFI. We didn't really have any hot water within the hours stated for it and the water were luckwarm to cold. another problem we had was that after we checked in for two days (by option) we were told that the room will be occupied as it was booked a week a head. that was very unfortunate as the manager husband didn't told us nything about it when we check in. for the honest disclosure i must say we haven't booked in advance and we stroll around the town looking for a place to stay when we arrived. we were asked how any nights would we stay and answered "1-2 nights, probably 2". the owner husband was very happy to check us in and "forgot" to let us know it's only for one night. only later on we found out when we over heard the reciption desk guy we understood we are in a mess. after he approched to the owner lady with our problem she gave us a very apatehic answer saying it was allready book a week ago. nor did they try to help us with other rooms for the same price or even helping us find a new place to stay she just walked away in a very clear way stating it's our problem and theres.
The morning after instead of visiting petra very early we had to strool around town and look for a new room.
As mentioned in the above hotel was a good value for money and if we didn't have any bad exprince with the rest we would have given it a better rating.
Paid 8 JOD (11.5$ USD) per person for a dorm bed with brakefest.
