This hotel is reasonably priced and only a minute's walk to the Petra site. The room was comfortable and clean. The shower was poor with very little water pressure. When the breakfast buffet items ran out (milk, cereal, bread), it could be slow getting them replenished. However, if you are looking for somewhere close to Petra that is comfortable and reasonable value, Petra Moon is ideal.

We were here last week, and although front of house is impressive, our room just didn't have the finish of our previous hotel in Aqaba.The small bin in our room had not been emptied ( used tissues/ bits of rubbish) the shower over the bath was very inadequate although the water was hot, broken toilet seat and television didn't work, we were told someone would come to sort it while we were out, nobody came, and it never worked.
There was a nice bowl of complimentary fruit.
Maybe we had one of the rooms due for refurbishment?
This hotel is close to the movenpick and holiday inn -- just across from the park entrance. If you want to get an early start in the park, and don't want to pay extra for the other hotels, this is a solid pick -- very clean, no frills but comfortable, with decent views. I have stayed in the Movenpick and the rooms are nicer in the Petra Moon, and if you want to eat in the Movenpick or sit in the bar, you can easily do so while staying at the Petra Moon. The beds were very comforable and the breakfast was good. They even packed a breakfast for us when we left at dawn before the breakfast room opened. very nice staff would stay there again.
We stayed for two nights in this hotel while visiting Petra. It has one of the best locations in Petra for visiting the site (about 50 yards from entrance). The hotel itself is very clean and the rooms are modern and well accommodated. The only criticism is that the bathroom was very cold. The strongest point is the extremely friendly and helpful staff. Given that this is a locally owned hotel, they do an excellent job competing with the nearby Movenpick. Although the Movenpick is flashier, given Petra Moon's price, it is a far superior value.
We stayed here for 3 nights whilst visiting Petra. As everyone else has pointed out it is very close to the entrance of Petra itself, although once through this entrance you have to walk/ride at least 2km to get to the main part of the site.
Breakfast was mediocre, omelettes and pancakes ok though. Syrup and other toppings were all value range. Pastries etc very dry too. We had the buffet dinner on the first night too, but didn't repeat this. Only a few more JD for the buffet in the Movenpick next door and streets ahead in terms of quality.
All power in room turns off when you take key card out (and it's a smart one so you can't fool it with another card unless it's a bank card with chip and pin). Lots of lime scale on the shower head, no plug for the bath and the main tap/shower head dripped unless you put it in a very specific place. No tv channels seemed to work either and although we brought this up with reception no-one came to sort it.
Wifi was 10JD for the three days although this was only for one device and it felt like you were always logging in. It stopped working after 2 days, but we were quickly supplied with a new login which worked fine.
Despite it being winter the pool was still open although it's not heated. Rooftop terrace was nice if a little breezy and I'm sure this is really nice in the summer.
Overall it was fairly good value but whilst they cover a lot of the added extras like bathrobe and slippers, free soft drinks that you might expect in a much fancier hotel, it still feels like it is lacking some of the basics.
We stayed two nights in this hotel. We chose it for the very close location to the visitor centre and for the good reviews. The staff were friendly and had decent English. Our room was nice, and compared to Jordanian standards very good. Comfy bed, AC, flat screen tv, nice bathroom. The door to the hallway did not completely block out the noisy German tourists. Breakfast buffé was good and had a mix of continental and local food, as well as a chef who made pancakes and omelettes. The WiFi was not included, this was quite costly and needed many logins to work. Room was actually non-smoking, this is sometimes not true for all places.
