We stayed for about 3 or 4 nights while visiting our son at grad school in town. We booked a one bedroom suite which was nicely appointed; however, we felt it was pretty tight in terms of square footage compared to one bedroom suites in other hotel chains. Also, our room was on the interstate side (very close!) so it was very noisy and we needed to put the blower or the heater on to drown the noise out. On the second night of our stay, there was a blackout that occurred in the hotel as well as much of the town preceded by an ice storm. We had no power (at all) for about 3 hours and this was a safety concern for us. The hotel was pitch black and we had to resort to using the flashlight apps on our cell phones to see where we were going in the room. I am wondering why such a new/newer hotel would not have a backup generator as many others do? Just a thought--not their fault that an ice storm rolled through and knocked the power out, but my husband was also expecting the hotel to check on guests--any of us could have fallen in the shower or blacked out. Maybe it would be a good idea to enhance/implement certain safety procedures.
As for the front desk staff, they were very welcoming upon check in and gave guests things like bottled waters and snacks. They were also happy to point out good dining spots and areas to explore. There is also a managers reception on certain evenings where you receive complimentary wine, beer, soda, snacks etc. Nice touch. The breakfast was hit or miss--sometimes hot, other times cold and not very appetizing. However, in their defense they did offer cooked protein selections where many other hotels offer just continental style breakfast items.
Would I stay here again? Sure. I would, however, definitely ask for a room that is not on the highway side and probably not book a one bedroom suite again...we had issues with maintaining an even temperature between the living area where our daughter slept and our private bedroom. Someone did come up and angle the vents downward to force a better flow of heat into the sleeping areas.
