“What a great find! Do we have to leave?”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 April 2014

We three old friends on a road trip stayed in the Garden Cottage after a long day exploring the Border Ranges and Scenic Rim. How good is this place! We should have booked a couple more days. Wonderful location with mountain views, natural bush surroundings and the vineyard setting. The accommodation was really comfortable and the afternoon dip in the pool was most refreshing. The BBQ hamper and bonus wine was a great option so we didn't have to worry about buying supplies (other than a few cold beers). We booked a wine tasting and enjoyed every drop of the lovely wines with the accompanying cheese and antipasto platter. The hosts were most friendly and attentive. We bought a mixed case of wines - the Roma's Red went sensationally with some spicy Thai food we had recently. Barney Creek Cottages makes a great base to explore the area or just relax and take it all in.

My husband, teenage son and I recently stayed in the Garden Cottage. There was plenty of room. The cottage was very rustic. We had our dinner provided which consisted of lamb shanks and veges done in a slow cooker for the day followed by apple pie with custard and rosella cheesecake and cream. It was to die for. Our bottle of Shiraz from the vineyard was very nice too. There were lots of puzzles and books to occupy yourself with. The sound of the creek running when sitting at the outdoor table and chairs was very relaxing. The pool looked very inviting. We wish we had of had a dip in it. Breakfast was exquisite too. Our hamper arrived with fresh eggs, hot bread out of the oven, bacon, sausages, onion, tomatoes, mushrooms, conserves, butter and juice. What more could we ask for! Only one thing is that there is no flyscreens and so mosquitos and bugs would be a real nuisance in the summer time. We will definately be making another visit to Barney Creek Cottages and would like to stay in the Hilltop Station next time.

Room Tip: If there are 3 or more of you staying then choose the Garden Cottage. Otherwise if there is just th...

A great location for family trips, plenty of walks close by, and great hosts. The accommodation and property set the rural scene well. There a fire places and plenty of space to enjoy life away from the rush of city life.

This was our second trip, our children loved playing in the gardens and swimming in the creek.

Room Tip: Weve stayed in the hill station and garden cottage, both excellent

This was my third stay and since I discovered this place, I will be returning each year. The cottages are so specially equipped and the managers and owners are magnificent hosts. The food is sensational and this place has now become a family favourite. One of the top places I have ever stayed in ever ....... Visit once and you too will fall in love with the place ....

I stayed by myself in the Lakeside Bungalow for a few nights to relax and enjoy my own company. The whole property is absolutely beautiful! It's surrounded by mountains. The Lakeside Bungalow is so gorgeously decorated and fronts onto a lotus-covered lake. I enjoyed sitting out on the daybed over the lake and reading my book in the sun. The spa bath in the cabin was excellent too. The highlight of my stay, though, was the hospitality of Tamara and Daniel. They are so lovely and I really appreciated their thoughtfulness and attentiveness. Daniel also offers a fantastic massage service!

Absolutely looking forward to going back again.

We booked the Hilltop Station for one night only (as part of a several day SEQ tour) - a beautifully appointed and romantic destination - we loved the 360 degree views, the double spa and the thought that has gone into the decor. We chose the BBQ hamper ($75 for two with complimentary bottle of wine) which was OK but not amazing - didn't come there for a gourmet experience so OK with us but just so you know, you'll get honest, unpretentious and good food which some might question at the price. We'll be back in winter and looking forward to the slow cooker meals for sure.
