Spilling the Beans in Simonstown has become our restaurant of choice, especially for Sunday lunch. Where else can you find a delicious 3-course meal for less than R100 and the cappucinos are good too. Definately recommended.

We stumbled across this gem on a family day in Simonstown and are we glad we did! The welcoming chef/owner made suggestion from his small but varied menu and we were so happy with each one. The pasta, chicken and salmon rosti stack where three winners and our 6 year old declared the pancakes the best yet! Paired with excellent coffee and really good prices Spill the Beans is a place we look forward to returning... perhaps for their Sunday menu which looked very tempting.

We are frequent visitors to Simon's Town and know this area well. After extensive research (!) we can say catergorically that Spill the Beans has the best coffee in the southern peninsula! We stop in for a cappuccino every time we are in town and are inevitably tempted by the food on offer as well. Personal favourites are the poached eggs on a bed of spinach and feta with hollandaise and the chocolate brownies.

The coffee shop now stays open in the evenings when the menu switches to fine dining with an unpretentious and casual atmosphere with nice classical music playing in the background. On our recent visit we had courgette and pesto linguine, a risotto made with a selection of mushrooms and for dessert chocolate fondant and a home made mango gelato. Absolutely sublime and so reasonably priced.

I think the thing that sets Spill apart from other coffee shops is the consistency - in scores of visits we have never had cause to complain about the food or the coffee. Give it a try - if you're lucky you may even get some words of wit and wisdom from Gareth the owner - that's priceless!
