“From penguins on the beach to tea in Tibet...”
Reviewed 8 October 2009

The Tibetan Tea House in Simon's Town is a must if you are visiting the area, or on the way to or from Cape Point. I recently was there on my birthday, and they arranged a special Tibetan Birthday experience for me with tibetan instruments and song... not to be missed! The Tea House itself is beautifully decorated and also has a boutique room where you can buy authentic Tibetan items and prayer wheels. The tea is served in delightful bowls and the cakes were scrumptious...
The penguins on Boulders Beach shouldn't be missed - they are really photogenic... and there are several little beaches further along from their beach sanctuary where you can swim from the boulders and enjoy watching them close up... but the water is pretty cold, even in mid summer.
Simon's Town has many great little antique/junk shops as well as some that are great for unusual souvenirs... watch out for the roming troups of baboons too!
It is a very pretty place with a main street reminiscent of colonial grandeur with lots of wrought iron balustrades and columns. From around mid September the whales can be seen in False Bay - a truly mavellous spectacle.
