Spent 4 nights in May at Buhoma Lodge. Our group of 9 was greeted on a rainy arrival with hot wash cloths as we got out of our vehicles followed by a glass of fresh mango juice as we waited to check in. The accommodations were fantastic- bed warmers in the sheets, wi-fi in the Lodge, awesome food (more than we could eat!) and the staff was so friendly. 'Wake-up call' in the AM was the delivery of hot coffee or tea to the porch outside our cabin. With wrap around screens in the cabin and bathroom, you could fall asleep to the nocturnal birds singing and the gentle rain falling. The place is magical! Monkeys visited too!

If you are going on a gorilla trek you probably do not have to worry about mobility problems. I however took my husband with me who has knee problems and the steep steps getting up the hillside to each individual cabana was a problem for him. It rained while we were there, and the steps up to the rooms can get very slippery.

We loved the hotel. The staff was amazing, the food wonderful, and the rooms were quite spacious and comfortable. I had a horribly long gorilla trek of 11 1/2h hour so I really cannot say anything about the massage or laundry services that others have spoken of.

One member of my gorilla trekking party had a birthday, and they made a cake and sang. It was very sweet, and entertaining for the guests.

They provided vegetarian meals that were tasty and well prepared.

You cannot beat the location, and if I was ever to return to this area I would stay here again.

Buhoma lodge was an absolutely wonderful place to stay for our gorilla encounter. Accommodation brilliant, views spectacular, food fantastic and staff absolutely great. Thanks to Ken and co for looking after us so well. Nothing was too difficult and as for the post gorilla trek massage... Perfect

Room Tip: Some of the rooms have a few (quite a few) stairs to get there but well worth it. Take your time, y...

This was a very nice stay. Great chef, fabulous desserts! Living room with place and warm bottles in the beds. Good size bathroom. Complimentary laundry service and a massage.
Perfectly located! Again like most other places, central charging of electronics is at the lounge area.
We had room B1 nice :-)

We LOVED this lodge - the food was 5 star (delicious and beautiful presentation) - kudos to the chef and staff. Ken, the manager, was very attentive and made sure that our stay was comfortable. The rooms are private, spacious and have amazing sounds (screened so open to the outside jungle noises) and views. We saw monkeys in the trees. The wifi worked the best in all of Uganda and Rwanda (on our trip). We traveled with Adventure Women - so 16 of us had the entire lodge to ourselves (8 cabins for the lodge). The start of the gorilla trek meeting point was just down the road and a small village with local crafts was within walking distance. .

Room Tip: The cabins are set into the hill so if you want a great view, you will need to climb some steps to g...

We were travelling to a wedding in Kampala during April and decided that we should go and see the Mountain Gorillas as we did not know if we would ever be in Uganda again. The more we read the more we doubted the judgement of our decision as many of the websites mentioned that we should not travel to the Bwindi National Park in April as it was so wet, nevertheless we booked into Buhoma Lodge for 3 nights/4 days. (We need not have worried as the weather was largely fine when we were there!) Because we were pushed for time we flew between Entebbe and Kihihi airports, cutting our travelling time to Buhoma from 12 hours to about 3 hours. Our flights, transfers, and tours (including gorilla permits) were organised by Wild Frontiers and enabled us to fit in an extra morning and afternoon activities into our stay at Buhoma.

Buhoma Lodge is situated just within the Bwindi National Park and their cabins have elevated positions that provide excellent views of the rain-forest.There was quite a bit of renovation happening within the Lodge when we arrived but we were positioned in a cabin away from the commotion. The cabins and bathrooms were very comfortable and had a nice rustic appeal which complemented the rain-forest experience. The open-air lounge/dining/bar area also looked out over the rainforest and the meals were substantial and of good quality. The bar was very popular, not only with in-house guests but also guests from the neighboring lodge! Internet and recharging of electronic devices had to be accessed from around the lounge area, however phone reception appeared to be available everywhere. Managers Ken and Titus made us feel very much at home, and advised us on additional activities to do in our spare time such as walks to the nearby (4km) waterfalls, performances by the local orphanage and an accompanied tourist walk through the local community.

As for the gorillas, we were assigned to the Rushegura gorilla family, which happened to be feeding amongst the vines across the road from the lodge. We were very fortunate as some other safari groups walked for 6 hours up and down mountainsides to see their assigned gorilla families. The rain did not eventuate and the hour spent surrounded by these very powerful gorillas as the quietly fed on the local vegetation was a first-rate experience experience that will never be forgotten.

Room Tip: All rooms are good, however it is best to stay away from behind the kitchen as the kitchen staff lik...

My wife and I had the pleasure of staying at Buhoma Lodge for 4 unforgettable days whilst we were in Uganda of Gorilla trekking. This place was amazing situated in the park which made our 3 minute walk to the starting point for our trekking so easy. The lodge offered a set menu for each meal which was amazing. We are both seasoned travellers and can honestly say the standard of food was 5 star. The rooms were well appointed with a jungle theme. We had room #6, amazing views of the forest and even more impressive was the morning sunrise. The staff at Buhoma were wonderful people and nothing at all was too much trouble. Our favourite was Frank, a genuine, honest nice person. If you stay here make sure you say Hi to Frank. We booked this entire section of our trip through a company call Wild Frontiers who I can also highly recommend. Please don't think this is the place to stay if you want a cheap holiday, it is all inclusive and is a high end lodge for this area but we believed it was a long way to come from Australia so we wanted to enjoy every part of it and we did. By the way the Gorilla trekking was unbelievable, you have to put it on your bucket list and towards the top.
