Nkuringo Bwindi Gorilla Lodge

This place is just amazing! Located deep in the Ugandan Highlands with stunning views of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, it's an ideal base to explore the area and track mountain gorillas. We took in a cultural walk and local dance as well as the world famous gorillas and had an incredible time.

Our rooms were clean and well-maintained, with a communal shower/toilet block nearby. This is an eco-friendly lodge and solar batteries and gas lamps at night were the order of the day. We had one huge rainstorm (not surprising given the location) and umbrellas were placed outside every room for guests' use. We were well-catered for as vegetarians with lovely food and huge portions.

We loved this place and would have stayed longer given the opportunity. We saw the gorillas which was the highlight of the trip but this hotel was worth the stay even if we hadn't! Special mention to Grace, Nesta and Judith for their great service and hospitality.

I had an amazing time at the Nkuringo Gorilla Camp. I was particularly impressed with how easily they arranged the gorilla permit for me as well as the accomodation. The staff were all extremely helpful and friendly. Delicious food. Treking the gorillas was an incredible experience, never to be forgotten. The Nkuringo camp is located very near to where the trek starts so is very convenient. I would most definately recommend the Camp to others.

Looking for an accommodation for visiting the mountain gorilla's, I was advised to go to Nkuringo Gorilla Park. And, it proved to be an excellent advise!

It is a cosy place, with the right atmosphere. The lodges are very good and decorated in a nice style. The food is fresh, with local ingredients and cooked with care. But, best of all is the service! Everyone, manager and staff is focussed on making your stay a perfect one. A personal touch, time for a chat, really interested. Nothing is too much; even a bottle of warm water in your bed in case you might be cold.
My conclusion: excellent choise, without any doubt!

My wife and I stayed at Nkuringo Gorilla Camp for 6 nights in the virruga terrace rooms and loved it. This place is really special, and the hike to get here is really worth the effort. To stay so close to the Gorillas with magnificent 360 degree views of the surrounding countryside was just amazing. All the staff are so friendly and they go out of their way to make your stay very enjoyable. The food was excellent with generous servings. You won't go hungry here. This really is a once in a lifetime experience.
Keep up the good work. Kane and Alex

It is well worth it to stay in Nkuringo for the gorilla trekking versus coming up the morning of. I stayed in one of the fancy tents, much nicer than I expected. My package included all meals...the food and staff are the two criteria that set Nkuringo apart. Make sure you stay up late enough to hang with the staff and other guest by the fire after dinner.

In addition to arranging our Bwindi crossing hike, the Nkuringo gorilla tracking, and lodging in his hotel for that night of our trip, Robert arranged our ENTIRE Uganda trip – he was amazing. All of our hotels, our drivers (from Entebbe airport to their hotel in town; from Chimp tracking to Bwindi – a long complicated one; from Nkuringo all the way across the border into Rwanda to the airport – including having his driver help us with the land border crossing and customs), our bus from Entebbe to the Chimps, our Chimp tracking – everything!! – for only a nominal arranging fee. He answered all my e-mails and myriad questions promptly and in more detail than I’m typically able to get from tour operators. Adolf, Robert’s guide for the Bwindi walk and gorilla tracking, was outstanding. The porters were a must for us. The hotel was terrific – cool and free of bugs because of the elevation, clean, and pretty good food. The whole trip was outstanding and there’s not a snowball’s chance I would have been able to arrange it all (particularly the cars) myself. A one in a million tour operator in a very difficult to navigate part of the world!!

what a fantastic Place! We spent 2 nights at the camp slept in the lovely cottages and got spoiled by the staff thank you Dora and your crew to make our stay so comfortable. The 3 course meals were excellent we even had ice cold beers an some wine in the evening. There is no electricity and running water but even this is not a problem we had every night a hot shower and plenty of light run by a solar charged battery.
We also did the Gorilla tracking, seen the Nkuringo group amazingly close i think we were very lucky to find them after only one hour ouf walking.
We all injoyed it very much and looking forward to come again.
