“Worth a visit”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 August 2014

An interesting cultural visit. We learnt a lot about the Dalai Lama, Tibet, and Buddhism. Whilst the temples are interesting they are not spectacular to look at like the Golden Temple in Amritsa. Fascinating.

A very peaceful place overlooking the Dhauladhar Range. People from all walk of life are welcome at this place which has some beautiful sculptors of Lord Buddha and other Gods. A perfect place for meditation and finding oneself.

“PEACEFUL & BEAUTIFULL”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 August 2014

From the moment we stepped into this place the experience was divine. There is a sense of calmness and pureness about this place . After going through the temple we sat on the bench outside on the third floor for good couple of hours and if time permitted i would have spend the entire day just sitting there .
Calm , peaceful, divine , breathtaking view & just a different experience . I might just go the town again just to visit the temple once again .
DO VISIT & SPEND SOME GOOD TIME. VERY SOULFULL

Very Average and highly commercial, depends on personal liking but yes, there are better monasteries to visit.

“Indescribable”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 August 2014

What can one say with the indescribable privilege & honour of being in the same temple complex where HH the Dalai Lama conducts teachings & prayers very regularly & adjacent to his residential complex - It is an amazingly simple complex & even somewhat in need of maintenance but here is the centre of Tibetan Buddhism & the source of sustenance for all disenfranchised Tibetans living in exile & many others who revere HH. At the entrance to the temple is a must visit "museum" which chronicles the history of the Tibetan invasion & features twice-daily movies on this subject.
If you have any interest in the cause of the Tibetan people & want to learn some of the uncomfortable history, this is an essential part of any trip in this region
