“Comfortable but far”
Reviewed 20 April 2014 via mobile

Every thing about the place was very good. Infact my best sterling experience till date the only issue is tht the hotel is situated quite far from the main town about 15 kms... Which means more than 1.5 hrs wasted in travelling!

The place is around 15 km away from Mccleodganj where one should ideally stay... The staff is very friendly... The food is prohibitively expensive though nice... The room is standard and there is no gardens or landscapes... The view is very nice...

Room Tip: Rooms facing the mountains,...

We stayed 4 nights in this resort and it was very comfortable and pleasant.

The rooms were well furnished and ventilated with good views. Rooms on the front side had a view of snow capped mountains. Rooms on the rear side had a view of a river and much less of the snow capped mountains. The front side rooms had wi fi connectivity, while the rear side rooms did not have wi fi. Wi fi connectivity improved on the lower floors, being closer to the basement where the equipment was located.

The terrace on the 3rd floor offered good all round views and a place to relax after the days' outing. Ayurvedic massage too was offered, of course at a fee.

The resort is located a little away from the main town of Dharamshala. It's about 1 1/2 km from the main road where buses ply. Autos/taxis are available at Norbulingka junction which is about half way to the main road. The resort could also call for taxis etc. Being a little away is good as the surroundings are quiet and peaceful. Behind the resort about a 1 1/2 km away is the Aghanjar Mahadev Temple which is a nice visit. From there another attraction, the Indru Nag temple is a walkable 3/4 km.

The staff are quite helpful. The only complaint we had was with the Sterling HQ at Chennai, who had not properly communicated the details of the Rs 2,000 promotional voucher we had been given, to the local staff, resulting in our having to make several last minute calls to their Chennai HQ, before the issue was sorted out.

All in all, a good resort to stay in, in one of the best hill stations in the Himalayas.

Room Tip: Choose a front side room, on a lower floor for better view and Wi Fi connectivity.

Room Tip: take rooms on third floor and back side , because you can view river bank from your rooms

I have never stayed at a sterling resort before as club mahindra was our first choice anywhere we travelled. So it was with great reluctance we booked this resort. so it came as a pleasant surprise when we entered the place and found it beautiful, clean and comfortable. the rooms were spacious and as good as club mahindra resorts. The rooms had breath taking views of snow clad mountains and a stream flowing by. though a little out of the way the sanctuary is a beautiful property. the staff were very friendly and helpful especially Shivani at the front desk. There was no buffet at the breakfast and dinner times as there were very few guests. But the dining room staff made sure we got what we wanted and went out of their way to provide us good food. But we felt the charges were on the expensive side as there was no buffet and the food was limited. My friend fell sick and the front desk got us a doctor to come and see her and i thank them sincerely for the effort.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the Stream are quieter and have great view

This hotel is located appox. 6 kms. out of the city, you need your own transport as nothing is available near by, but the scenery is beautiful around the hotel, view from the room is great as a small stream of river flows just outside the hotel and you can see the snow clad mountain from your room.Check in smooth and fast, big beautiful, well furnished room with a balcony, noise free latest model of Panasonic split AC,21" Hyundai TV with good videocon digital connection, comfortable bed ,clean linen and towels,Tea coffee maker,Room heater, Very sound noise free sound sleep quality.
Big, clean bathroom with good fittings but hot water is only for limited hours in the morning.
No wifi in the room which is a big minus.
Polite and eager to serve well trained staff. Tasty but limited choice breakfast but no buffet.
Fast and smooth check out.
Will stay here again and recommend to friends as this hotel is
a very good choice for the tariff.
Ask for the front side room as I was told wifi is available in those rooms but you will miss the river view.
Overall a 8 / 10
