I decided to go to Hampi for 3 days and I booked a room at Padma Guest house online.

The checkin time is 9am. Although I reached there at 7:30 am I was provided with a room at no extra charge. The room was quite comfortable and tidy.

The owner is a friendly lady who greets her guests with a smile on her face. Since I didn't know the prices they'd charge for sightseeing, I took her suggestions on the rates and did quite a bargain!

Overall it was indeed a pleasant and memorable stay!

Recently I was on a 3 day trip to Hampi. I had booked a room in Padma Guest House (PGH) for 2 days, with payment on arrival. The check time was 9 A.M. but we arrived there at 7. We were duly given our room without even asking for the booking charge. The family running the GH are so very warm and cordial. The room was decent for it's price. The maintenance is good. We had a good stay. The check-out time is 9 A.M.. On the day of check-out we vacated the room but we kept our luggage at their place before collecting it in the evening. They even asked us if we wanted use the rest room before leaving. The GH is standard but the hospitality is very very good.

Room Tip: In summer, it's advisable to choose ground floor rooms as the first floor rooms become very hot.

First floor rooms have view of temple. Very clean, friendly operators. We only had one negative… which was how expensive it was! Sunrise from the rooftop was good. Padma herself is very sweet and speaks good English.

Room Tip: First floor has the view but the prices to match

This place is alright for one night - we had an old and dated room on the ground floor that looked nothing like the modern rooms in the photos on TripAdvisor.

The staff and the family running the place are fairly friendly. Our room was large and on the ground floor situated just outside the family's living room. Our room was large, basic and had a tv although we didn't use it - it looked like a converted living room.

The bathroom was tiny and didn't smell great. The shower was made up of a separate hot water and cold water spout which I hadn't seen before - it looked really old.

The bed was really hard, maybe the hardest we've come across and I didn't sleep well.

On the plus side the location is great, right in the middle of the village and very near the main temple - you can see the temple from standing right outside the door.

I thought that the room was expensive compared to what we've paid elsewhere. We paid 2000 IRS but there was a festival on so maybe that's why the room was expensive for what it was. They tried to charge us 5000 IRS more than what we were quoted on arrival but once we showed them the email they had sent us confirming the price they were okay.

Room Tip: Pick an upper modern looking room like the one in the photos

The place is run by a family who is very warm and helpful. Rooms are decent and clean. Hotel is near the Virupaksha Temple and the river that divides the City of Hampi. The serve delicious breakfast dishes and Ice tea and Coffee beverages were our favorites.

Power switchs were equipped both inside and outside the guest rooms. Service staff turned off the outside switches frequently with no notices to the guests and was usually saying these power cuts were faults of the electric power company. I didn't know this at first, so I spent much time without electric power.

Room Tip: You should always check the outside power switches.

Do not expect to much - dont get your hopes up too high, but this is one of the better options. In the dense bazaar area its worse... We came and we got basic room, this was basic - and looking at the better rooms the day after basic was basic but still, the only thing different was a tv picking up more of the little space. The huts on a row across the river looked like they were of good standard not better than this eighter. Staff was freindly!
