Worst experience of my life yet.

The owner is friendly as in most reviews - a bit chatty but a good person and helpful with info about the place. but that is where the good things start and stop, atleast for me.

Reached at 10.30 in the night, the owner had arranged for our transfer from Jhansi railway station. checked in. Suggested and also arranged for home-cooked food from his own house. so far so good.
Had booked for 2 nights in their best room - the one with the fort views. well u can see the fort but obscured by the building next to it and by the tables etc on their own balcony.

The balcony/ terrace - it is a common area with all the people on the floor spending time here, so we were forced to hear all the discussions going on, even though all we wanted was to get some rest.

The view - well didn't get much of it because we couldn't keep the curtains open because of all the people there and the windows themselves could not be opened because of the mosquitoes.

The room - pretty good sized, though not very big. BUT it did not have anything to put our things on - no shelves, no cupboards, no tables, nothing except the bed. asked the owner for some chairs and a table, had to carry it myself to the room for there are no attendants or helpers.

Also had to ask for blankets and also for clean pillow covers.

The bathroom - There was no hot water for a shower when we arrived. tried everything but to no avail. finally asked the owner, he also tried a few things - but nothing. then after about 1 hr or so, we got hot water.

Sleep - apart from all sounds and noises in the terrace, there was something in the bed or the sheets or where i don't know..... but i had a mighty big rash on my back started like bites spreading all over my back with very severe itching...... no sleep...finally had to take anti-allergic medicine--- went to sleep at around 2 am.

Morning - woke up to the sounds of chatter of people wanting to see the sunrise at 5.30 am. in the terrace. tried sleeping again but the noises kept increasing with staff continuing when the guests left after sunrise.

Finally decided to leave - left at 6.30 am. thankfully got our money for the 2nd night returned.

Moved around in Orchha, visited the fort and river. Do go to the river behind the fort if you are in Orchha, it is beautiful and peaceful.
Finally in the afternoon, we moved around town searching for hotels - found a lot of good, cheap places. In the end stayed just next door to Ganapati hotel in Hotel Deep Regency.... much better room, much better service, and cheaper (Rs 800 compared to Rs 1000 in Ganapati ). The rooms didnt have any views, but the roof had incomparable view of the fort and temple both. And the staff arranged for our dinner under the stars. Thankfully this ended the visit to Orchha on a happy note before we proceeded to Khajuraho.

And if you want a good room with a view, go to Fort View Guest House - they have beautiful rooms with great views. Unfortunately they did not have empty rooms on the day we were searching.

Room Tip: dont stay here. go to Fort view if you want a good room with a view. Search else where if you want v...

Stayed 2 nights during the Christmas weekend. The place is clean, cosy and economical. Staff is very friendly including the owner Mr. Vaid (aka Vakil ji) and his brother. They also arranged a home made dinner for us when we didnt want to go out to eat. This hotel also has probably the best location among the budget hotels in Orchha. The back side of the hotel opens up to provide a panoramic view of the Orchha fort and the two palaces.

Room Tip: Choose a location on the upper floor for a better view.

We stayed here only for one night, the manager or owner, is very keen and very nice and helpful. Yet he has rooms with like 4 or 5 different prices, personally I don´t think any of the rooms are worth more than 600Rs, but he charges up to 1200Rs.
We went for the basic one, and was quite alright, clean, fairly big, hot shower etc. the hotel is sort of half finished, you can see the place has potential but is not quiete there yet. Still, it has nice views over the palace by their, kinda´ gritty balcony.

Stayed here 3 nights, the room was very clean, spacious and very reasonably priced with 24 hour hot water. The view across the river to the palaces was simply stunning. The owner, Mr Vinod Vaidya is very friendly and helpful. In all very nice staff and good place to stay.

Really enjoyed my stay in Orchha. All the staff here were very friendly, and in a genuine way. The entire town has a very relaxed feel and the staff carried this on and were quite helpful with directions and tips. The bathroom in my room was larger than some rooms I've had in India and had good hot water. Beds were the typical foam and as comfy as can be really. There is a nice courtyard with views of the palace as well. No restaurant on site and you will find dining in Orchha to probably be a bit bland. Quiet at night.

We had a great time staying at Hotel Ganpati. We were given a large room with a great view, attached bathroom etc for a very reasonable price. The room was clean, quiet and perfectly comfortable with 24 hour hot water. The staff were very helpful, especially the owner Vinod who was a mine of information and insight into Orchha and India as a whole. The hotel balcony overlooks the river and palaces, a great place to watch the sun go down with a cup of chai!

Room Tip: Ask for an upstairs room at the end of the row for a great view
