“Nice to watch the sunset”
Reviewed 10 July 2014

In a short trip to Pushkar, it was great to sit on a rooftop overlooking the lake and watch the sunset, and the streams of bats flying out over the lake out of the old watertower.
Best seen from above - it's hard to get to the lake itself without being pestered for donations for flowers and other offerings although there are quieter spots away from the main ghats.

“Beautiful place-Beware of scams.”
Reviewed 10 July 2014

The lake is a true landscape of India, especially during the sunset, I really enjoyed to spend some time there. In the morning in the middle of the street you'll have many people offering a loto flower to trow in the lake, as an ancient indy ritual of worshipping, they then will bring you to an exact point of the lake where you'll meet the brahmin and he'll teach you the ancient indu pray for your family at the price of 1k rupees for each person of your family you want to protect, I ended up with the fair price of 9k for this no sense plus an offer (no less than 1k to the brahmin's family), I gave 1k to the brahmin just to get rid of him, although he wasn't happy at all, such an unpleasant situation especially in that beautiful and holy place, shame!
You'll find a lot of people try to scam in every possible way during your stay in India, so beware! sometimes is better to appear unfriendly rather than live such bad stuff!

“Spiritual moment”
Reviewed 10 July 2014

As other reviewers mentioned, it is nice but beware of the brahma priest trap. Do the whole ceremonial but do not feel obliged to give more than 200/400 rupees for donation. They will pull a long face and say that if you prayed for 4 members of your family you will have to pay a minimum of 4x500 rupees,... Don't pay attention and just give what your heart says to give. I guess the ceremonial is worth it.

“Unfortunate”
Reviewed 7 July 2014

Pushkar lake with its 52 ghats is AMAZING! It's just a HUGE shame that their are people claiming to be saadhus or holy men trying to bless you and take your money, on my first walk down I was approached by a man and I thought because it was a holy place people would not try to scam you like they do everywhere else! After he "blessed" me and asked me for a 500 rupee donation I told him No and that I would put the money in the donation box he said no and called on his friend who was dressed in a white robe. I got up and left and walked around to the other side where I was approached by a few more. Also be aware of the men that randomly give you flowers on the street saying it's for luck, they are trying to take you don't to the lake to scam you, I thought it was a nice gesture until he started following me and told me to come put it in the lake when I refused he asked for his flower back! I was so upset and disappointed that people would do this at such a holy place. Do not let these people ruin your experience though it is very beautiful.

“Magical with a sense of calm”
Reviewed 2 July 2014 via mobile

The best place to see the sun rise. Disappointed some people did not respect the Hindu customs at the lake. Scattering rose petals after a Hindu blessing was memorable
