“Almost Perfect”
Reviewed 18 March 2012

We have just returned from staying at the Aktiv & Spa Resort Alpenpark. It was our first time at the hotel and the resort, both were excellant. Thank you to those who had written reviews, you were not wrong. The hotel is a fine hotel as many others have said in their reviews. The entrance is grand and then it gets even better. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. We arrived early and was told our room would not be available until 1pm, we returned at 1pm to be told again it was not ready it would be 2pm, we asked if there was anywhere we could go in the meantime. Reception told us that we could go to the restaurant and have some lunch! It was in the main restaurant and was a buffet selection of salads, pasta, meat and a huge selection of cakes and pastries. We were seated and told to help ourselves. We ordered a drink thinking we were going to get a bill for everything. We were surprised to find out that the food was included in the cost of our stay. Between 1-4pm you could eat in the restaurant for free and pay for your drinks only. A beer is slightly more expensive (1 Euro) than in the village or mountains but worth it to have the free food. We booked this hotel as part of a package, our Rep didn't know that the hotel offered free lunch/afternoon cakes etc, we could have gone the whole week without knowing. It saved us a lot of money by not having to buy lunch when we were ski-ing. As stated by other writers the food at the hotel is exceptionally good, it really cannot be faulted other than too much. Our room was delightful, we had a basic standard double which lhad a balcony and looked out over the mountains. The health spa is lovely, the only downside to our whole experience at the hotel was children. We are not against children. We were at the hotel during the european school holidays, which meant there were lots of children that took over the swimming pool in the afternoon, we visited the pool once and that was enough you really couldn't enjoy the area at all. The other problem was that children were allowed to run through the main dining room, parents didn't seem to keep their children under control through out dinner. We had a table fairly near the entrance to restaurant and which led to the "Childrens Play Area" we were on the main run through which didn't help. This point was of general discussion on our coach trip back to the airport, some of the guests (who had children of their own with them) even complained about the noise etc during meal times and made a point of it on the hotel feedback form. All the amenities at the hotel are excellant, my husband didn't ski on this trip and there was more than enough to keep him occupied. Seefeld itself is a lovely "village" very pretty. The ski area is not extensive but there is enough to keep you occupied. We would definately return to the hotel but try and avoid school holidays.

I have just returned from another fabulous Ski and Winter Sun trip to Austria, this winter, this time staying at the Alpenpark Hotel in Seefeld-in-Tirol. This hotel is really excellent, with its wide range of excellent facilities and really excellent helpful staff. The nicely furnished room had a splendid view and balcony that overlooked the Rosshutte and Reither Spitze, snow capped mountain peaks. The restaurant, with views of the Gschwandkopf, and it's excellent high quality food and menu was a delight, including rack of lamb, corden blea veal and vension achieving outstanding food and service perfection by the splendid efforts of Mattius, Julianne and Hr Mann, to name but a few. The very comfortable bar was nicely placed with views across to Gschwandkopf and had a very pleasant cosy atmosphere, log burning fire, ideal after a busy day on the slopes. The bar staff and Melanie in reception were very helpful. Just 10 minutes walk to the delightful centre of Seefeld, the Alpenpark Hotel is really well placed for savouring the skiing delights and an excellent touring base for all that is going on in this part of the Austrian Tirol. I will certainly being returning to the delights and perfection of Seefeld and the Alpenpark Hotel. Following 30cm of fresh snow the previous week, over the week stay, there were 5 days of clear skies and sunshine, I'll be back and cannot wait until my next visit, just perfect.

Room Tip: Treat yourself to a balcony with the fabulous mountain views on offer.

Sometimes it can be difficult going back to a hotel that you really liked just in case the experience isn't as good but we really didn't need to worry here.

Funnily enough the only bad note was on our arrival. We were late having been diverted to Munich because of snow and having to endure a long train journey back to Innsbruck. Not only did the quite rude member of staff try to tell us we couldn't have dinner even though it was still being served and was within the stated times, she also engaged in a shouting match with her male colleagues and refused to allow us to complete the check-in formalities after dinner. Not the best first impression and quite upsetting after our arduous trip.

However, when we got to the restaurant our waitress, Nina, took care of everything and we had a fantastic meal as, indded, we did every night. The food is the Alpenpark is simply amazing. You realy need to ski, walk, swim, whatever to avoid gaining weight. From the self service buffet breakfast through to the excellent buffet lunch and then the waitress served multiple courses at dinner, the choice and quality is stunning.

If you like dry white wine, drink the house Gruner Veltliner - it's excellent.

This time we had a room in the new wing. It was larger than the room we had on our last trip and decorated in lighter colour with two balconies. It seemed lighter and airier so I would definitely recommend booking in the new wing, especially south facing.

The hotel facilities are fabulous. There's a "pub" with skittles, table top football, darts, pool, etc, both adult only and family pools including a heated outdoor section, a pretty good gym by hotel standards, a spa, salt pool, etc - the list goes on. In fact, it's quite tempting to just stay in the hotel all the time but that would be a terrible waste!

The hotel runs guided walks and other activites and Seefeld itself offers so much. Good skiing, miles and miles of cross-country tracks, cleared walking paths, curling, skating, inddor tennis, pools, etc

I really recommend both the Alpenpark and Seefeld itself - you'll have a ball.

Room Tip: Pay the extra for the larger south facing rooms in the new wing

We stayed at the Alpenpark at Christmas time three years ago and we enjoyed it so well that we returned this year with my sisters and their families, plus two grandmothers, 15 people in all! We all had a great time!

The evening and gala meals are outstanding, easily top restaurant quality and there is a free buffet at lunchtime. The hotel has excellent spa, pool and recreational amenities, including bowling alley and squash court. The rooms are mostly spacious and though we didn't see any of the recent refurbishments mentioned on their web site (evidently in another wing of the hotel) the beds are comfortable and think we all slept pretty well.

It should also be said that Seefeld itself is a very pretty little town, with skiing for those who like it (the majority of our party), excellent walks through stunning Alpine scenery for those who don't (my wife and I), a great little Christmas market in the town centre (hot gluhwein and sausages, essential in cold weather!) and a good rail link into Innsbruck.

So, why only 'almost perfect'? Well, the one letdown at the hotel is the WiFi connection in the rooms, which is a badly designed and confusing paid-for service that is painfully slow and prone to dropping. The hotel did cancel charges for a couple of frustrating hours spent not loading even a simple web page (I had online work commitments that were impossible to keep) and a slightly more reliable free WiFi connection is available in the lobby but the hotel would do better to abandon the subscription service, add a small supplement to the room rates and allow free access throughout the hotel.

That said, the hotel management, the Kaltschmid family (who run several hotels in the area) are charming, courteous and amenable, even allowing us private use of the Lounge for our extended family DVD viewings at no extra charge.

I think any of us would be happy to return again. My brother in law is already looking into availability for next Christmas!

Spent a week at the hotel over New Year.
Everything about the hotel is Excellent. We had a group of 13 and the hotel was perfect for the adults and the 6 children.

The spa and treatments worked out great for the non Skiers. And the sports bar and main bar great at nights

If going to Seefeld stay at this hotel

We stayed at Alpenpark for our honeymoon and it was lovely; we were upgraded and the room (although slightly tired looking) was really nice with a balcony.

The staff were so helpful and politie (especially in the waiting staff). The hotel was clean and tidy.

It is is a good location.

If we have the opportunity we will definately return.

Room Tip: Go for south facing if possible.... (think some rooms would look out on car park so best to check)
