We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 week stay at the Kaltschmid. Having read some of the reviews about the hotel, I was slightly anxious about what to expect, however, I think the negative comments were rather unjust. OK - the room (a family room for 4) was a bit old-fashioned and the balcony and bathroom were a little on the small side - but we had a lovely view of the mountains, there was loads of space in the bedroom itself, it had great storage and v. comfy beds and was beautifully clean. Yes, there was a bit of noise outside at night - but the hotel is right in the middle of the pedestrian zone of Seefeld - so there's not much that can be done about that. For us, it's position in the town was a big advantage - not disadvantage. It was so convenient to be able to walk out of the hotel and to be right in the middle of the town - which, by the way, is absolutely beautiful. The staff at the hotel were extremely friendly and helpful; it was spotlessly clean everywhere, and the food was fantastic every day of our 14 night stay. Our kids (5 & 2) loved the indoor pool - especially the slide - and the views from the pool area were magnificent. For us though, one of the biggest advantages of staying at the Kaltschmid was that we could use all the outdoor facilities of the Alpenpark (the sister hotel). On our holiday, we were really lucky with the weather - it was hot and sunny for the majority of our stay, and so it was a huge advantage to have access to an outdoor pool. The Alpenpark is a pleasant 5-10 minute walk away and it really is a stunning hotel - the main pool is massive, and although a little chilly when you first get in - it's fantastic to swim in with picture-postcard views of the mountains around. The kids pool too was lovely - beautifully warm and you had access (swimming through flaps) to an indoor pool area, which also had a kids slide. Around both pools were comfy loungers and there was always space to sit. There was also a play area for the kids, which they just loved. Originally I had wanted to stay at the Alpenpark, but it was considerably more expensive and we still got loads of the benefits of it whilst staying at the Kaltschmid and also had the better location (in my opinion) right in the centre of town. I would have no hesitation in recommending Seefeld as a summer holiday location and also the Ferienhotel Kaltschmid.

We have just come back from two weeks at this hotel and would thoroughly recommend it, the restaurant is excellent with mix of buffet and served offerings for breakfast and dinner, the rooms were well maintained -opt to pay extra for the larger room with balcony if you are bothered as the standard rooms are quite small - the ones overlooking the street could be a bit noisy at night but fine with the window shut, health club was very good also, staff could not do enough for you and the location was great in the middle of the village, lots to do in the area, local buses were great for exploring all the different areas

We have been sticking to beach holidays for the last few years due to young children. This year however we decided they were old enough for a change. Oh how we wish we had done it sooner. The boys (9 and 7) loved it. Mountains, cable cars etc.

We were a little concerned about the hotel before travelling due to some of the reviews but we found the concerns unfounded. The Kaltschmid is centrally located and in an excellent for getting round the town. An added bonus was that Austria instigated no smoking in hotels etc on the 1st July, this was great news to us.

The food was good and reasonably varied in the hotel, we were SC but still ate in the hotel some nights. Prices were reasonable also.

The hotel staff were extremely helpful. The day we arrived we were told our apt would be an hour, but as we had an early start I said the boys were tired and this was inconvenient. They checked the room for us and it was just about ready so they let us in. The porter took our bags.

There was a nice pool which the boys enjoyed using after a day out.

The only criticisms I would have were:-

1) the room was too hot (although on our last night we did find a switch which may have been the answer)
2) the rooms were not cleaned in the week we were there. Towels were changed but no hoovering - I had to do that myself.
3) Beds were a little hard

All in all very good accommodation which I would come back to.
