“Excellent holiday, fantastic value.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 August 2013

We stayed at the Stefanie for 2 weeks, lovely, if slightly dated, room, clean and functional though. Breakfast excellent with superb service and very pleasant dining rooms (4). Nice indoor pool and fantastic sauna. The evening meal at the Shonrhau across the road was exceptionally good, superb food throughout, the indoor pool and steam room, infra red cabin were superb, as was the outdoor nature pool and hot and cold showers. We went with Inghams and thoroughly recommend this deal. ALL the staff were incredibly helpful and pleasant. The free snack buffet at lunch is very, very good and the cakes so tempting, with this thrown in its really full board at half board price. The free bike facility was another bonus. Thanks for a great holiday in a great little place, we went all over on our bus pass, only 12 euros for up to three weeks use on the postbus and the walking was superb, fantastic weather to boot.

I spent a week at this hotel recently and found it to be very good. Good room clean, bright and spacious. The breakfast was excellent, tasty and plentiful. Evening meal was taken across the road at the hotel Schonruh again this was excellent and the short walk across the road was no problem at all. The Stefanie has it's own small swimming pool and sauna etc but all the excellent facilities of the hotel Schonruh are also available at no extra charge which makes it excellent value. The staff are efficient and friendly. All in all a very pleasant holiday in a lovely village.
Highly recommended.

I booked this accommodation on my friend’s recommendation and honestly I wasn't expecting much, but it was outstanding in almost everything. Rooms, services of the staff, food, all were perfect. Décor of the building was different and I liked it. My wife loved their selection of curtains, carpets and linens. Staff is wonderful here – very friendly, very polite and hardworking. I will definitely recommend this place to my other friends and family members.

I booked a holiday in Seefeld with Thomson staying at Hotel Stefanie seeing as the friends I would be joining were only across the road in Hotel Schoenruh which was around £300 more than I had paid for the week. I ended up eating every meal in the Schoenruh and using the wellness facilities throughout my stay. I stayed in a single room in Hotel Stefanie which was pleasantly decorated and very clean but a little dated. The rooms my friends stayed in the Schoenruh were pleasant but a also little dated and I would have been disappointed had I paid as much as they did. However, the restaurant and bar areas were beautiful with intricately carved timber ceilings. Our waiter for the week was George who made an occasion out of every meal time, he really was excellent. The food was delicious with an excellent selection for breakfast each day and omelettes cooked to order. Dinner was ordered at breakfast and there was such a variety of choices; they all sounded so good it was hard to make a decision on some days! Although the holiday was sold as a half board package, a delicious buffet lunch was available in the Hotel Schoenruh bar everyday so it seemed like more of a full board deal. The wellness centre was lovely, with an indoor and outdoor pool, Jacuzzi and a variety of different saunas and steam rooms. They don't let you wear your swimwear in the saunas and steam rooms but for those that don't want to strip off, they didn't seem to mind if you wrap yourself in a towel. It's a 5 minute walk to the ski bus stop and around a 10 minute bus journey to the slopes of the Gschwandtkopf and Rosshutte. The downhill ski area is quite small and mostly suited to intermediate skiiers but there are lots of cross country routes for which the resort is renowned. Overall, it is excellent value as you get to use the 4 star facilities of the sister hotel if you don't mind the short walk across the road.

I had a top floor room (and got some exercise climbing the stairs, especially after skiing). Room was great: low ceilings, but had space for five (though I was on my own). I appreciated the elbow room. Bed was very comfortable; pillows were fine too (I had loads of them). Bathroom was ample and there was plenty of hot water. Staff were very friendly: indeed all of Austria seemed friendly to me. There is a very small bar (room for ten or so), though you can expand into the dining room. Had good chats in the evening. Reasonable prices. Breakfasts were fine -- more than ample: each person has a seat at an assigned table for the whole holiday. Dinner was the same, though at a restaurant down the street, where again you sit at your assigned seat -- on your own if you are on your own, which doesn't make for great conversation. Still, the food was exceptional -- very exceptional. Wine is surprisingly expensive, but you can order beer, which is reasonable. And if you don't finish your wine, it will be there the next day for you. Service varied: sometimes it was superb, at other times (as a single guest), you had to work hard to get noticed. You can use the spa facilities of this hotel (better than the sister hotel Stefanie, though the Stefaie pool is fine and I had it to myself much of the time). Beware: saunas are not single-sex and nudity is not just tolerated but really quite required -- a bit of a surprise for shyish North Americans. The ski resort is very, very limited (you can ski it all in half a day). There is a free ski bus, but it doesn't start until after the lifts open. Most people were there for winter walking rather than skiing. Apparently the walking is very, very good.

Just arrived back from a week at the Stefanie, like some previous comments say the rooms could do with a bit of updating but the amount of time we spent in the room it wasn't really an issue. Staff at the hotel were excellent, some were not so good at the Schonruh across the road where the evening meal was taken. Although the Schonruh was a far more modern hotel and presumably a lot more expensive to stay at than the Stefanie, we tended to find it quite busy most evenings.

We used the indoor pool at the Stefanie most days, it tended to be quite quiet although this may have had something to do with the weather which was superb and I presume most people used the outdoor pool at the Schonruh.

Would certainly consider returning.

I echo the comments of the previous reviewer. We stayed at the Stefanie in August 2011 and although the rooms are serviceable, they do need updating. The Wellness hotel 50 yards down the road (where you have dinner and can use the pool and spa) is a complete contrast with a modern 5 star feel. Good 5 course buffet and reasonable drink prices. Breakfast at the Stefanie is fine and it also has its own pool. Friendly check-in staff who speak English. Usual rubbish thin Austrian pillows. No free internet terminal though. Paid 117 euros per night for double room for two with half board.

Room Tip: Use the pool down the road
