A truly superb property in a stunning setting. Domaine De Puget has great facilities from a well equipped kitchen to the lovely swimming pool an extensive library, huge cd collection and a variety of games as well as a piano and pool table. The views from the terrace are stunning whatever the weather and on a night the lack of light pollution makes it excellent for stargazing. John & Janie are excellent hosts offering a wealth of local knowledge. You do need to drive due to the location.

I'd like to keep this treasure to myself so it goes against the grain to recommend it so highly but its exceptional owners, Janie and John, deserve better. Our second stay at le Puget, this time in early June , managed to exceed my expectations yet again. Last year we had a wonderful family holiday in August booking the whole Domaine. This year we took the Farmhouse for 12 days in order to explore the region further.at a slower pace.
Same great hosts, same first class accommodation and practical help that makes the holiday so much easier: detailed travel instructions from airport: guidance to spectacular walks, 'must see' places of interest and local and regional eateries and help with comforts such a pillows, walking sticks, choosing our wine for us etc. that make a difference to an older guest. Le Puget's immediate environs are beautiful and for me create an harmonious fullness that I bring back home and long to get back to,

“Bliss”
Reviewed 16 August 2015 for a stay in June 2015

Some context first - We were looking for a large, self contained, self catering, accommodation as a venue for my 40th Birthday. It must be large enough to accommodate a minimum of 12 adults and 1 child.

If you are looking for a large, private location for a large group, close to the Pyrenees, reasonably driving distance from a major regional air port and a beautiful setting. This is the place.

We stayed a week and there was 12 adults and one child but the accommodation could easily accommodate more children if required as there were rooms free. We took over the main residence as well as a smaller annex / cottage. Both backed onto the other and enabled us to continue with the family atmosphere unimpeded.

The Kitchen in the main house is HUGE with everything you can imagine. Everything from coffee grinders to a moroccan tagine pot. There are two dish washers, two fridges, two ovens and a large range. If cooking on holiday is your thing, this place has it in spades.

The bedrooms are basic but incredibly clean. Most have en-suite and are reasonably spacious. My only gripe is the lack of air con which can make sleeping in the summer tricky BUT I currently live in a country where I have the air con on every night so I'm a little spoilt..

The grounds and scenery are just beautiful and going beyond the grounds you are, in my humble opinion, one of the nicest, quietest places in France. Its just stunning. Mirepoix which is just a short drive away is, again in my humble opinion, one of the most amazing medieval towns anywhere. The main market square is something to behold and just sit and enjoy in one of the beautiful cafe that surround it.

Last but by no means least are the owners Janie and John who live on site but are by no means intrusive in anyway. Far from it in fact. By way of introduction over a glass of wine, Janie will tell you the in's and out's of not only the property but also the surrounding area. They were incredibly helpful and will cook the entire family a meal for a small extra charge per head. just delightful.

All in all, and as the rating states, this was a wonderful and beautiful place and I would love to go back if I have the chance again.

“What a Wonderful Holiday!”

This was our third visit to Le Puget, and it did not disappoint! As always, John and Janie were wonderful hosts. We stayed in the Farmhouse, a beautiful cottage, exquisitely furnished. A delicious dinner was left for us on arrival, John and Janie were always on hand to recommend good restaurants and give travel tips, and we had a lovely drink with them on their terrace with an idyllic view over the hills on our penultimate evening. The Farmhouse is extremely comfortable, and we felt thoroughly at home - we even had our own private garden! We were able to see a lot of the beautiful surrounding area, and do a great deal - ranging from cultural visits to Toulouse and Albi to a gastronomic lunch at the wonderful Table de Franck Putelat in Carcassone (which John recommended) and some lovely local walks - and also spend a lot of time relaxing, including swims in Le Puget's excellent outdoor pool, and browsing in the Farmhouse's extensive book collection. All in all a wonderful trip, and we're already planning our return visit. South of France doesn't get any better than this.

“Great place, bags of space”
Reviewed 15 August 2015 for a stay in July 2015

My family stayed at Le Puget in July. John was a pleasure to deal with through the booking process and provided lots of useful information in advance of our arrival. The property is fantastic, very well looked after and extremely spacious. It is also very well equipped, the kitchen in particular - good to have some nice glasses and decanters for our wine. Similarly the pool - situated in its own walled garden - is great. There is a substantial collection of DVDs available to borrow. It is a good base to explore a number of interesting places nearby, although there is nowhere very close requiring a longer trip to buy bread/groceries etc - not a problem, just need to be organised for shopping.

“Excellent accommodation”

We have visited twice, once with family in high summer and once by ourselves in early summer. A lovely, peaceful and spacious place with a beautiful swimming pool and an entrancing rural atmosphere. Hosts very welcoming.

“The perfect retreat”
Reviewed 3 August 2015 for a stay in July 2015

Sometimes holidays don't take care of the important stuff, like family, food, peace, rest, fun and togetherness. I can safely say John and Janie provide a landscape where the important stuff (not just John's wine selection's) is fulfilled in abundance. Difficult to say its a home from home but if I did have a 55 acre home it would be something like Le Puget. Go if you want to smile and relax, be welcome and feel as though you have returned to an old friend. Don't go if you want a beech, nightly entertainment and water slides. If you do go, walk out to the fields with a bottle of 'in region' red and enjoy and sunset.
