Two people on this beach, when we visited, while Micro Ammoudi was very busy. Lacks the secluded appeal of other beaches. But access is slightly better.

try the '' little ammoudi'' mikro ammoudi, which is five minutes walk from Ammoudi, park your car and go up on the hill. The adventure starts there, you have to climb down the rock to get there and it is a steep path, so you cant carry much and ideally avoid if you have small children.

The result is so rewarding though, a tiny gulf, with crystal clear water. You feel you are in your swimming pool, open to the Med. No amenities, or bar, it is just a beach so be prepared. We went for a couple of hours and ended up staying all day.

Unforgettable experience.

By and large the southern coast of Crete offers more protected and quiet beaches than the northern one. In this context, Plakias, Damnoni and Ammoudi beaches are definitely attractive. Plakias is better developed but the other two beaches are more isolated and "private" although open to general public. We were disappointed by the Palm Bay which seems to be a special one but the road leading to it is a long, mountainous dirt road accessible but for 4 wheel- drive vehicles.

This beach is one of the best beaches around this great island with a high competition! Great location for diving-lovers too!

very beautiful beach, yet ruined by the small snack bar located just in front: rude staff, very slow and lousy service, little food but high price.
