We were allowed to use the pool and facilities of these apartments whilst staying at the Dora Studios and we were made most welcomed . Free wifi was included. Friendly atmosphere, nothing seemed a problem to them. Took the short cut over the wall.

Just had 2 weeks at the Costas Chrysoula in Plakias. 2nd Visit to Plakias in 2 years and will visit again for sure. Lovely chill out, relaxing place to stay. If you want to sleep, rest & eat well in lovely family tavernas, then this is the resort for you.
Apartments are typical Greek, clean/tidy/small basic kitchen with kettle and few pots/pans with a TV (not all bells & whistles, but have what you need) with a very relaxed atmosphere helped by the obvious good working relationship between the hotel owners, staff and Les the Olympic Rep who are all extremely helpful whether on duty or off duty. Nice pool, very clean with plenty sun beds around-never had to get up early to put a towel out.
Apartments odd to access when you arrive in the dead of night. The mini bus drops you on the main car park on the front (the rep meets you there ok) and a pick-up truck takes your luggage to the apartments and you just walk through this alleyway with the rep but this only a 2 min walk if that. Dont be put off by this though as in the light of day its easier and obvious that the mini bus wouldnt get through the narrow access !.
The apartments are ideally located - very level for the resort and within a 1 min walk of supermarkets / tavernas/ beaches etc. Couldnt be more central for everything but so peaceful & quiet as well - no rowdies here !.
All tavernas were lovely & nice to eat in, ones on the street 'one back' from the front are slightly cheaper, but not much in it (good to eat in if windy). Nice 3 course meal with wine for 2 costs average of 20-25 euros maximum at most places !.
Manousos, Medusa, Minoika, Scirroco (good greek enteratinment/singer to listen to on a Sunday night-not greek dancing) were our favourites but there are many others equally as good including the apartments own taverna-gorgona which are on the front. We never had a bad meal in any.
The 2 to 3 hour transfer is well worth it. Its a lovely scenic route during the day and soon passes. We arrived at night, so lost the views, however the mini-bus driver very kindly offered to stop part way at an all night kiosk to pick up any bottled water if we wished to put us over till morning, which was nice consideration/thought.
Worth a bus trip to Reythamon-again a scenic route. There are only a few buses a day and the last one back from Reythemon leaves the bus station at 6pm so be mindful of that. The Costas apartments have the time table up and will advise. Reythamon is a lovely place, lots of shop, small quaint streets, plenty of eats houses and a lovely beach. You buy a return bus ticket from the auto plakias car hire place opposite the bus stop.
Tip - if you get either the 12.15pm bus to Reythamon or the 6pm bus back to Plakias, the bus does a detour to a Monastry Preveli area to collect people who have been on the beach at Preveli. This detour is additionally very scenic and only adds 15 mins on the journey and worth the views.
Car hire is approx 132 euros for 3 days through Olympic. Choro Skafion, Frangocastello, Agia Gallini as well as Mytherios/Sellia and other local villages are good to visit. We found 3 days enough as the roads are not like UK roads. Worth while getting out and about if thats what you like.
Most sun loungers/brollys are 4 to 5 euros a day, some are free at times.
Would definitely recommend / visit again, but remember most Greek apartments are more basic than other european resorts, so do your homework and you wont be dissapointed - however that is part of their charm.

Room Tip: Email the hotel directly if you have any specific requirements and they genuinely will try to oblig...

Just returned from a fab week's stay at Kosta's. the apartments are in an excellent location with less than 2 mins walk to beach, restaurants and bars.

The rooms were very clean, with modern bathroom and air conditioning. There is also free Wi-fi throughout the complex.

We have travelled to Greece on many occasions and can honestly say we have never had better maid service. Towels and bedding changed regularly, the maid visited every day during our stay, toilet rolls etc always replenished.

The pool and communal areas are well maintained, never had a problem finding a sun bed. The owners, staff and the Olympic rep Les are all very friendly and helpful.

Only downside to the holiday was the transfer time from Heraklion. It was around 3 hours on the way and closer to 4 on return, as there were several pick ups in Rethymon and Bali. I wouldn't be put off by it though, but if you can afford to book a private transfer directly to Plakias this will save quite a bit of time.

Overall Plakias is a lovely laid back resort with ample restaurants and a selection of bars to choose from and I don't think you can beat Kosta's of you are looking for a good clean comfortable value for money place to stay.

We booked a last minute deal to stay here for one week and were so glad we did. The moment we arrived we were warmly greeted by the staff and a complimentary cold beer before going to our room. The room was perfectly adequate for what we want/need when we go to Greece, with a nice clean modern bathroom.

It is clear why they have a number of return customers, as the hotel itself is very pleasant and Plakias is a nice size resort, with enough tavernas and a couple of cafés, without feeling in any way busy or loud.

The transfer was around 90mins, less than we were expecting, however we had no stops along the way. Plakias is a little isolated but we made the most of the south coast by hiring a car, also Souda bay and Damnoni/Ammoudi are within walking distance, or a short taxi ride if you prefer.

The hotel has a pleasant bar area and a decent pool and is situated really close to the tavernas and supermarkets for easy access however it is still quiet with not noise issues.

If you want a nice quiet resort to visit, then Plakias should be considered and look no further than the Costas Chrysoula as you will not be disappointed.

Has a great week there recently and will return again. Friendly, laid back even and a lovely place to unwind. The pool is kept in great condition and so inviting ..... Angelos the barman adds to the charm, excellent evening entertainment!
My only gripe is the catering facilities are pretty spartan, not much there. At the end of the day eating out is fun and they do provide breakfasts (payable for) that looked good. The area is good, Plakias is a nice friendly resort, quiet ad relaxing. Locals so friendly. worth booking, you will want to return as so many do.

Spent a thoroughly enjoyable week here (28/05-04/06)
Couldn't have stayed anywhere better, and cannot wait to go back
Angelos, the barman - what a character! Excels at his trade, and nothing is too much trouble
A great place all-round
Just one tiny grumble... no frying pan!

I know....all apartments are the same aren't they! Well, that may be but if you're looking for consistent comfort, friendly staff, a fantastic location and what seems like your very own pool then Costas & Chrysoula (available through Olympic Holidays) in Plakias, Crete is a great choice. We always feel as though we've booked in to an exclusive resort..only to have the whole village at our fingertips (and what a village...next to the Libyan Sea and surrounded by mountains). We've been guests there for over 20 years and have made friends that last. Good if you like quiet, the environment, great food and wine and Cretan welcomes. Not so good if you don't like heights....there are two ways in to the area..both through spectacular gorges, rooms near the bar can get a little noisy (solve that by staying up late...you're on holiday after all) and the swifts catching insects over the pool can be deafening at sunrise but it doesn't last long.
Well worth considering.....which is what about 85% of previous visitors do again and again.....oh, and I almost forgot......Costas & Chrysoula's bar is usually managed by one of the best barmen in Crete !!!

Room Tip: A range of rooms is available but some are smaller and perhaps a little older than others. They tend...
