Livykon is the best, cleanest and most helpful accomodation we have had in Plakias. The situation right by the beach cannot be improved. We have visited Plakias over 20 times in the last 21 years, have stayed in 5 different accomodations, and have found that the rooms, staff, and owners at the Livykon Hotel give us the best & most enjoyable holidays. The family are extreemly helpful and friendly, and all the staff will do anything they can to keep you happy. The food in the bar is 1st rate and of very good quality, drinks are generous and come beautifully served with decorations[umbrellas,parrots,etc...]. The maid service is spotless, towels changed daily,bedding every 2-3 days or as needed.Hotel suitable for singles couples and families. We would recommend this accomodation to anyone, and have done so many times. Excellent Hotel ******

We stumbled upon this great hotel by accident, and we had a fabulous three days there at the end of the season. The room was spotless, and cleaned daily. Location fine, as others have said, a step from the beach handy for town etc etc, and, with a room overlooking the main street, great for people watching! What impressed us equally was the owner and staff - tthey had that excellent balance of friendliness and giving you enough space to be yourself. While we were there, there were torrential downpours for a couple of the days - the cafe below was a great refuge, the coffeee, juice - and beers- made sure we were comfortable, and the price was extremely reasonable. As others have said, no frills in terms of pool/games room etc, so what you see is what you get - a lovely clean room, fridge, shower, bed, tv. As a couple after a chilled-out break, it suited us down to the ground, but with kids, you might need a little more in the way of ameneties. The only area that could be improved was we found the bed a little hard, and the sheet a little small. That was far outweighed by everything else, though. We'll definitely be back!

We have stayed at Morpheus Apartments twice previously and decided to try the Livykon this time. They are both run by the same family and they are both unbelievably clean and great value but I think the Livykon has a slight edge for us. The two share an offstreet carpark which comes in very handy if you have rented a car. Both have shutters on their windows and double glazing so noise from the street is a minimum. If you want to sleep in however noise from the corridors at both could wake you up from the cleaners !

The room we had at the Livykon was an ocean front room on the 1st floor. The balcony is more private than Morpheas and our room did not have the "power line view". The room had a sink, refrigerator, electric cooktop, pots/pans/dishes etc air-conditioning and TV (there is one channel that shows English programs -Boston Legal, Grey's Anatomy etc plus english films and nature documentaries screening on other channels at other times. I know you don't go on vacation to watch TV but some nights I just like to stay in for a change). We stayed for 9 nights and our towels,sheets (!) and even the tea towel was changed every day and the floors mopped.

Both hotels are a small stroll to the main stretch of plakias where the tavernas and a few bars are. Best tavernas are the one straight over the bridge who's name escapes me which has daily specials such as duck and veal ,and the seafood taverna Tasomanolis around the bend from the port.

The Livykon has a pleasant bar on the ground floor which is relaxing for catching up with friends over a coffee or beer and watching the world go by. There is a supermarket next door but we found the supermarket under Morpheas Apartments (about 15 metres away) run by them is cheaper.
