“Three Months in Paradise”
Reviewed 3 July 2012

My husband and arrived at Kripia on the first of March and stayed there until the end of May. The little stone house exceeded our expectations and we were really sad to leave. The views were more stunning and the property was bigger than expected and well laid out.
There were two living areas at right angles to each other, one of which contained a small kitchen / dining area and TV and both of which contained a sofa bed. There was also a bathroom (with small bath) and a large bedroom with ample storage space. This had a most comfortable bed with Coco-mat pillows.
Antonia, the owner organised internet access for us.
Outside there were two terraces, both with great views and shelter from the weather. Even though it was cold in March we always had our breakfast outside, looking at view.
There was also an area behind the house for hanging out clothes.
It was very peaceful and quiet- the only noise being birdsong and the occasional donkey braying. A ten minute walk brought you to the beach ( pebbles) with clean beautiful sea.
In Spring there were many wild flowers and there were many lovely walks into and around Kardamili.
At Easter our son and five year old grandson came to visit. The sofa bed was very comfortable. There was plenty of safe outside space in which to play. There was virtually no traffic. ( Kripia is right at the end of the track) It was great weather for walking and it was possible to swim without freezing.
The house is big enough for 3 couples, or a family with up to 4 children. Kripia as a whole, would be an ideal choice for several families/couples who would like to be together but still have their privacy and peace and quiet. In summer one could just go to the beach and enjoy Kardamili or you could use it for a base to explore the whole area.

The owners Antonia and Tasos could not have been more welcoming, friendly and helpful. We had an amazing 3 months.

These four small stone house of Kripia are a real tresure. At least they were my idea of a perfect place to stay in the summer. The house we stayed was quiet, clean, surounded by a very nice scenery. It was close to the sea and the village without having to deal with the noise and commotion of the other tourists. I went there with two friends and we all had our own space. There were two wonderful verandas each one had shade at different time of the day. So breakfast in one and afternoon coffee in the other. And why bother going out in the evening since a good wine and a few meze we prepared in the fully equiped kitchen was the best choice. Eating in the veranda under the stars away from the madding crowd was a real treat.

Having visited the Kripia Houses in the past, I couldn't believe my eyes reading the review by the title: “De slechtste ervaring van mijn leven”, Reviewed July 18, 2011.
Its content makes you think it refers to some other accommodation, somewhere in the Third World.
Knowing the big effort people like the owners of Kripia do in order to keep such a tourist establishment in Greece, I feel the need to come to their defence.
The specific review, apart from the unbelievable accusations it contains (for instance, that they were beaten by the owners!!), it also couldn't be farther from the truth: it says that the houses are far from the beach, while it takes less than 10 minutes to reach it on foot.
As a Greek, I feel extremely angry for this other Greek who wrote the review, undermining the big effort this couple at Kripia make all these years.
Fortunately this is only one unacceptable review in the long list of favourable ones written for Kripia.

"Kripia Stone Houses" are very well situated and equipped for family vacations for people who look for relaxing and laying back. The beach is a couple of minutes car-distance or 10 minutes walking distance depending on your taste. The establishment is also enough for children to play around safely while you enjoy your evening beverage with the Mrs :)
The owner is a very pleasant person and eager to assist in any way possible and always with a smile.
All-in-all I would blindly refer this to anyone visiting the area, who wants just peace and quite while enjoying a beautiful sea view with their morning coffee.

Krpia is a set of four stone houses located outside the village of Kardamili in Mani, which makes it ideal for a peaceful holiday. The beach is literally 5 minutes walk away. All houses are equipped with everything you would ask for; apart from being very comfortable, you even get books, local travel guides, board games etc. There's free parking, and very importantly free fast wireless internet access. The price is very reasonable: you get a lovely stone house, with loads of outside space in a great location, with fantastic service. Antonia the owner, is lovely and welcoming, and always there to help in any way (she even provided us with a beach umbrella). She really makes you feel right at home from the first minute, she would answer all your queries, and recommend nice restaurants, and places of interest. The houses are beautiful, with lush vegetation , very private and Antonia makes sure they are kept sparkling clean. We truly enjoyed our stay there, we really relaxed and would highly recommend Kripia for a relaxing, comfortable, lovely experience. It was such a pleasure to deal with Antonia, and it's really great that she takes so much pride in her work and of course, as customers we really appreciated it. If you like a peaceful holiday, this place is the genuine article! It is a hidden gem, and would happily go back.

The word “Kripia” in ancient Greek conotes something that is hidden. In the case of the Kripia stone houses in Kardamili, the name refers to the three big caves set at the back of the complex, beautifully lit at night. For us though Kripia is actually that, a well hidden gem! One of those hidden treasures that you want to keep for yourself, but in the same time you feel that it is unfair for the others who don’t know its presence.
Set almost at the end of the village of Kardamili in Mani in the Peloponese, very close to the beach, Kripia offers the utmost in quiet and relaxation with beautiful views of Kardamili bay from the private verandas that all four houses have.
We have been there twice in two years and enjoyed every minute of it. There are four houses, two for a couple with maybe one kid and two more for larger families. They are fully equipped in terms of cooking equipment, they are air-conditioned but most important of all is the warmth one gets from Kripia’s “heart and soul”, Antonia, who makes you feel more than at home. What more can I say that when we arrived for the first time in the summer of 2008 with our elderly cat- yes, Kripia is friendly to animals, something still rare in Greece!- there was a can of catfood on the table, alongside the other goodies for us, humans, like the local rusks, oil, honey etc.
We feel like Kripia is our home in Mani and there is no doubt in our mind that we'll be back.
