“No need to leave the hotel!”
Reviewed 16 August 2014

We've been coming here more years than not since our first visit 15 years ago. We have seen the hotel expand and develop but without any compromise to the warmth and friendliness of the owners and extended family and certainly no compromise on quality.
The food is delicious and much of it is grown in the beautiful gardens. On the rare occasions we have eaten out in the local town, we always wondered why we bothered. Breakfast includes freshly squeezed orange juice, yoghurt, honey, fresh figs and freshly baked cakes as well as the usual breakfast fare. One year, we were disappointed that the usual full fat Greek Yoghurt had been replaced by a low fat version. We commented that we missed the real stuff and next day both types of yoghurt were on offer! It's that attention to the little things that sets this place apart from the rest.
Each year we see the same guests - many Greeks or with family origins in Greece who are drawn back here for true R&R. But privacy is respected with no more than a nod of acknowledgement.
For those who have a need to explore there is plenty to see locally and further afield - the seaside tone of Stoupa, a trip through the caves, or visit to ancient Olympia.
If I have to find something to criticise it is that it can take up to 20 minutes from one person being served their main course at a table to the last person receiving it. Does it matter? Only if you're really hungry and have to watch the rest of your family savouring their delicious meal before yours arrives. But then they have to equally watch you enjoying your own!

We had two days in this lovely hotel. They were so kind to give us one of the new rooms since we were there for our honeymoon, however even the un-renovated rooms are good with lovely views of the water.
Small little private beach was a treat and the breakfast was great. They had the best custard pie that we had on out entire trip!

Would also recommend stopping by Lola's Frozen Yogurt shop that is in the town. Delicious and so cute!

All the buildings are made of beautiful stone with views out to the sea. It's a few minutes drive outside Kardamili but too far to walk. The breakfasts were excellent, eaten outside on a lovely terrace surrounded by lovely gardens. The beach is tiny and a bit of a walk, with steep stairs down at the end of the path. The initial greeting was perfunctory and we were not shown to our room, but later on the manager/owner warmed up. He really went to bat when we discovered we had left some things at our last hotel and he went out of his way to arrange a courier to get them back to us. We had a pleasant room in the middle of the main building; bigger, nicer rooms at each end. Ask for a sea view as some rooms are in the back.

Room Tip: ask for a sea view

This is one of the best hotels we have ever stayed in and that is saying a lot. The family owns and runs the hotel and it shows. You are greeted in the morning with a spectacular breakfast sitting on the patio with all the flowers and fruit trees you could imagine. Those fruit trees provide the special lemon sauce, apple pastry hot out of the oven and other delicious breakfast treats. We had a deck overlooking the ocean and grounds of this hotel. There is your own private beach and the hotel interior looks like your own special mansion with fireplace, library, etc. We loved it here and will return if we go back to Greece. Thank you for a great stay.

Room Tip: Most rooms have a view but be sure to ask for one. We like the rooms in the main house but the addi...

We stayed here just one night at the end of our travel to Greece. It is the second time we stayed there and it was so wonderful. The mother of the family welcomed us so warmly like we were part of her family. We got a studio room with a balcony overlooking the olive grove and even the sea. Sitting at the balcony at sunset time was so romantic.
Beakfast was very very good.
We probably will come again on our next trip to the Peloponnese.

Great rooms. Building made of rock, in the spirit of Mani, nicely decorated. Excellent service, great prices for what they are offering to you. Kardamyli worth visiting.the old and the modern part of kardamyli are a few Kms away. The modern part is closer to the sea. famous by a national tv series. You have to visit the nearby gorges. Ask the locals for the team that organize activities around there.it is easy to find them

We came here for two nights at the end of a ten day stay in the area - late September, early October. We had booked a double room but were given an apartment with a lovely, double-arched balcony and view over the olive trees to the sea.

The room was slightly dated, but in a solid, old fashioned, charming sort of way. Cool slate floors, comfy bed and a wonderful shower in the modern bathroom. The balcony had a table and chairs, and a cushioned bench lined each of the end walls.

The grounds are lovely, as is the walk through the olive trees, past the little church (and the back of Paddy Leigh Fermor's house), down to Kalamitsi beach. Access to the small, private beach is down quite steep stone steps, but is well worth the effort for the wonderful swimming to be enjoyed there.

The food, both at breakfast and dinner, was excellent, as was the beautiful terrace where it was served. The family/staff were friendly and efficient.

(The majority of the clientele at this time appeared to be returning regulars from Germany and Scandinavia)

This is not a flashy hotel, its charms are understated. However, it possesses a quiet core of traditional elegance that is rather rare and is really quite beguiling.

Room Tip: Request a sea view room with a balcony.
