If you are looking for a spotless, well equipped room in a peaceful, idyllic location you have found it. The Liakoto is truly a hotel in a million. Having travelled to many beautiful places in the world, I can honestly say the sea and mountain views from the Liakoto are the most spectacular I have seen. The owners, Geraldine and Ilia, could not have been more welcoming. Their personal touch is everywhere, from home made biscuits in the room on arrival to gorgeous Greek toiletries in the bathroom. The swallows nest outside our room was accommodated in the same caring way - a small tray erected by Ilia to collect the mess created by the new occupants! The village of Kardamyli provides the holiday essentials of a shady square with a fountain, a wide selection of shops and some really fantastic, reasonably priced restaurants. i don't believe it can get any better than this.

Room Tip: Room 210 provides the best views of coast and mountain.

My first time at Kardamyli but if I had known about it before I would by now have a Kardamyli Loyalty Card in my wallet! The scenery, both sea and mountain, is truly stunning and every day spent there is a joy to experience. Now, if you are looking for some raucous activities by day or night, you're going to be in the wrong place so don't bother reading the rest of this review because you won't like it!
The Anniska & Liakoto Hotels are two distinct hotels but separated only by a couple of hundred yards and are in the same family ownership. Although I visited the Anniska to meet with some friends who highly rate the hotel, I stayed in the Liakoto and was very impressed with everything associated with it.
Ilia and Geraldine Paliatseas are the very proud (deservedly so) owners of this hotel and they live above it so they have a very focussed attention to detail and that 'personal touch' is much evident. Their reception, domestic and maintenance staff are all extremely pleasant and the rooms, swimming pool area and reception (that includes a bar) are spotless at all times.
Each room is equipped with a refrigerator, kettle, hot-plate, glasses, cups, plates, cutlery etc and these come in handy when preparing a breakfast with groceries purchased in the nearby shops but given the number of nearby restaurants all of which offer superb local cuisine you might not be needing the in-room catering equipment that much. Complimentary tea and coffee are in each room (with air-conditioning) along with a small colour TV set and there's free WiFi connection thrown in. The self-contained bathrooms each have a shower, loo and hand basin and hot water on demand was never a problem. (The cold tap water is perfectly safe for drinking.)
In Kardamyli itself are a range of shops including a small super-market, a Post Office, a first class sports shop run by a great guy named Vangelis and many locally-owned cafes and bars that offer a relaxed environment from early morning through to about midnight.
If anyone is still waiting for the 'night club' bit please go back to my first paragraph.
Can it get any better? It doesn't have to for my money.

Bob R.

The 2 room suite was very roomy, clean, comfortable and tastefully decorated. The views from the balconies were breath-taking. The kitchen space was well stocked. I would have liked wi-fi in the room, but sitting out by the pool to read email was not that much of a sacrifice!
The owners were lovely.

This was our third time in Kardamyli and our second staying at Liakoto. We recommend it wholeheartedly, and offer our thanks to Gerry and Ilia for their helpful local knowledge. The apartments are spacious and well-appointed; ours had two balconies, one overlooking the sea and one the mountains (and pool). Tea, coffee and milk were waiting in for that all important first morning; together with biscuits and a bottle of good local wine.

Location is about as good as it gets - everything in the town is within easy walking distance while it is not on a busy road and it is bang on the coast. Kardamyli itself is a pleasant little town with everything you might need a pretty wide choice of restaurants, shops, including a post office, a bakery and a bank (including ATM) but without the disadvantage of a larger town. Access to beaches, mountains and good walking trails is first rate.

Kardamili is a beautiful place giving the best of Greece. It is a small picturesque town with nice atmosphere, friendly people and lovely shingle beaches. We very much enjoyed the local food, cake (at Anna’s café) and Greek coffee. Beautiful and fresh start in the morning to go hiking in the hills looking over Kardamyli. Liakoto was an excellent hotel that made our holiday something special. Close to everything yet very peaceful. It has big spacious rooms with a stunning view from the balcony at sunset. It was clean and very tidy and with a beautiful outdoor area a short walk away for a swim in the ocean. The owners were very warm and helpful. Thank you.

We think this is our 5th or 6th visit to Kardymili and thus our 4th or 5th stay in Liakoto and as always we had a wonderful time. Geraldine and Elia were lovely as ever and we never tire of the pool, lovely beach 10 minutes walk away (with its fantastic beach restaurant - best food in Kardymili) and just the steady pace of life + the food! This time we had a massive apartment with 3(!) balconies - which view to savour?

We travelled this time courtesy of Simply Travel (who dont seem to be going to Mani in 2012 - shame) as at the time independent flight were rather expensive, though we have travelled independelty to Liakoto too. However now that the road between Kalamata and Athens has been upgraded it is apparently little more than 3 hours from Athens to Kalamata and then less than an hour from Kalamata to karymili so perhaps next time we will avoid the charter flight and go via Athens.

we really cant recommend Liakoto higjhly enough, but hopefully not too highly that we cant get a room next time. A little gem , Richard and Jean.

Room Tip: Havent had a bad room yet.

Beautiful place to stay! Rooms are huge (really an apartment) with all necessities; you can easily make your own meals. Peaceful pool and patio area. The pool was great after a hot day of site seeing. Our room was on the main floor with balcony looking right on the sea for spectacular sunsets! Clean and our hostess had fresh cookies and drinks in the refrig for our arrival; wonderful services. Located on a side street, right in town for close access to groceries, bakery, sites to see. It was a fabulous place to stay and we hope we can come back to the area. Really liked Kardamili a lot. Great home base for exploring the Mani Peninsula.

Room Tip: Sea views are worth the money
