We were driven into here by the rain but it turned out to bea lovely place for lunch. The restaurant was quite busy with only the owner actually serving but he got around everyone in a pleasant ant swift manner without big waits. We had the shrimp saganaki which was delicious and the beef burger which was far better than anything in the uk. We finished with a complentary baclava again delicious, altogether a poor weather lunch turned into something. Dry enjoyable

It is what is says on the tin. My wife and I stopped here based on the TA reviews. After a visit to the castle on a hot day, the cold beer and shady tables outside were just the ticket. The moussaka was awesome (best so far on our trip) and the Nikon salad was refreshing. Our starter of feta with sesame was also nice. Too much food for a sitting and a doggy bag was no problem. Super reasonable prices (€30 for two) as well.

I certainly recommend a visit.

For some reason I often fail to find briam, the simple yet devastatingly tasty Greek dish of vegetables gently stewed with tomatoes, when in Greece. So I was extremely pleased to find that this clean, quiet, sweet-natured family taverna had it on the menu the night we were in Methoni - along with spinach-and-rice and stuffed peppers. Finished off with excellent baklava, it was a little epiphany of home-cooking and unbelievably cheap. We were there off season, so it was lucky too that Nikos was open at all. A solid choice for a visit to this extraordinary town with its vast, strange Venetian-and-Ottoman ruins.

At the start of New Year weekend, all three restaurants we know in Methoni were closed. So glad Nikos was open, it was a nice surprise. A cosy log fire and excellent choice of food, including the best Saganaki we've tasted and a lovely chicken & mushroom pie. There was even a complimentary sweet pastry each at the end of a very reasonably priced meal. Cost much less than inferior taverna meals elsewhere.
