I spent two nights in this guesthouse: clean, quite big and really close to the city center. Owners are welcoming, and they can suggest you best things to do in your Nafplio's time. Price is reasonable.

In all respects it could have been a very good pension, but the bed was really quite awful. The bed must have been very old in that it comprises these very large coarse springs that you could individually feel along your back or whichever parts of your body that was exposed while resting. Coupled with an extremely noisy refrigerator unit parked in a wooden cabinet as an end table, it was our utmost fatigue after each day from long walks and ascension of hill sides that allowed us sleep, albeit not a sleep you would awake from in your most revitalized.

In every other respect the pension was satisfactory for what one might expect in this category of lodging. The location was perfect and just outside the main streets enough to maintain a peaceful quiet when sitting outside the balcony. However flaws like the small room size and the tiny curtained shower with only the absolute exact amount of hot water for two individual showers become emphasized when coupled with the worst bed of our Greece travels.

We didn't have the chance to get to know the rooms and facilities of the guest house, as the owners suggested that we should look for another pension when we showed our disappointment to their statement that we had to check-in no sooner than 2 o'clock. We had made the reservation the previous day. We arrived at Nafplio at 11 o'clock and we looked forward to a nicer and kinder welcome.
It is really sad when we Greeks are treated with hostility and rudeness in our country whereas there is plenty of "politeness" for foreign tourists.

P.S. Every cloud has a silver lining: We had a most pleasant stay in a very cosy pension with a wonderful balcony and a cool owner.

We only wanted to spent one night passing-by Nafplio, so this pension didn't seem like a bad choice...
The room was tiny (we could barely move), the bathroom was quite spacious but it seemed worn-down and the towels smelled bad. The aircon was old and noisy and it takes time till it really starts working.
The owners are really friendly (maybe slightly on the scary side-kind of friendly...) but it's not enough...
I must admit that they where very eager to give us information about the route we would follow the morning after and seemed very nice.
No breakfast (it was not included), just some unappetizing rusks which we didn't even try...
I guess it was not hideous, but it's not an experience I would like to have again...

We arrived in Nafplio in October with a short list of hotels that had openings but we had made no reservations. A very helpful bartender took the time to call the Atheaton Guesthouse to get directions (we met people like this bartender throughout our trip). We left our car in the carpark at the harbor and walked up to the Atheaton, a couple of minutes away. Lia, the hotel manager, met us and showed us all the available rooms. The first night we stayed in a room located in the building adjacent to the hotel proper. The room was clean and comfortable, but didn't have a balcony. For the next 2 nights we moved over to the hotel building where the room had a balcony. This room was also clean and comfortable. The complimentary breakfast is more of a snack to stave off hunger until you could get to a restaurant. That was fine with us since we would rather explore the town and find a cozy cafe. Lia and her mother were very friendly and helpful. We liked both of our rooms and the small "breakfast" was not a disappointment. The hotel is centrally located and you don't have to climb any stairs to get there (some of the other hotel/pensions that we saw as we were exploring were quite a hike....vertically to get to them).

It was the best vacation of my life! The family environment we experienced was unique! The staff was very kind and helpful. The room we had booked was better than the photos, very clear and convenient with wonderful furniture! And of course you must taste the breakfast! Really homemade pies, sweets, cakes and everything that only a mother can cook! A silent place in a picturesque neighborhood in the cite centre, within walking distance from the bus station and any place for visiting. It's really amazing and must visit guesthouse! Keep going and offering magic moments owners! Thank you for your Greek hospitality!

We reserved a double room for one night via email. Got a very cozy room in the Antico Hotel (not where reception was). We left the car in the public parking and had to walk about 200 ms, but the location was great. Though the room had 3 windows to the street, it was very quiet. There is no breakfast, but coffee, tea, crackers, butter and jam in the room. Just enough for us. The only minus I found was the bed, just too small.
Evangelina, the manager was more than helpful and all the information we got from her helped us to have a wonderful stay. Thanks a lot!
