Loughnane's Guesthouse
Reviewed 19 December 2013

This past summer we went to Feakle and were fortunate enough to book in at Loughnane's. For the first few nights we were the only ones there and loved it. Liz was the perfect hostess; after we landed in Shannon and made our way to her place a bit jet lagged she parked us in the shade and went to her garden for a fresh salad and treats. She and husband Billy made sure we found all the local pubs and we spend a couple of nights lifting pints with them in this, a wonderful small town. When we left it was like leaving home....and we plan on returning. You cannot go wrong staying here!

We lucked out and the two of us had the place to ourselves which helps the review , the town is slow , the place is clean , well ventilated , complete seperate kitchen , shower hot and strong, babling brook along side that cam be heard , scenic walk up the road , even a dishwasher and washing machine if there was 7 more beds occupied it could have been different , the mattresses where on the hard side would return for sure

We stayed here as it was convenient to the "seed savers" in Scarriff where we were booked on a course. This hostel has an attached self-catering house where We stayed and had the place to ourselves. As it was April, the village was pretty quiet! There were bunk beds upstairs which could sleep up to 9 people. Bed linen was provided and there was a shower. The kitchen downstairs had a dishwasher, cooker, microwave and washing machine. There were two large tables and a seating area in the main room. No TV or radio, which didn't bother us. There is a small patch of grass to the rear with a side gate which leads out to a waterway which was part of a water mill. In April it was E20 per person per night
All in all it was clean and cheap and the owners were friendly Being off peak there wasn't much to do in the village but it's a short walk to several local pubs and shops. In the summer there is a music festival in the area so it would be a bit more lively then.
