Stayed here on 3rd June 2012, The first night of our bikers tour of Ireland.
Had difficulty finding the place but that was down to my mates "navigation" skills :-)
When we eventually arrived we had a warm and friendly welcome...Ed even tried to programme the rubbish sartnav that got us lost to begin with... Excellent accommodation with secure garaged parking for our bikes.
The house was tremendous, brilliant rooms with en suite wetroom!.. and the local pub was literally just across the road.
Would definitely recommend Abbeyvale House and will certainly stay here again on my next visit to Ireland.

I had an absolutely delightful couple of days at Abbeyvale House, where they go out of their way to make you feel at home.

The house is set in the charming village of Holycross (a few miles from Thurles) and offers exceptional value and service.

The rooms are all large, modern and well-equipped (I saw all of them as I was in a large party of guests), the breakfast was outstanding and our entire visit was, from start to finish, an absolute triumph.

If you decide to book in my tip (which was offered to us by the owner at Abbeyvale) is to go to Parkers restaurant for dinner, which is just a short walk down the road. It is very romantic and the food was great.

I defy you not to love it.

We chose this B&B based on the excellent reviews here on Tripadvisor. We were not disappointed. The house is well maintained and Mary decorated and furnished the house beautifully. Downstairs next to the breakfast area there is a Conservatory which is an ideal place to relax and read up on some of the sights you might be going on your next day. Breakfast was scrumptious! The corner rooms are quite spacious, unfortunately we got the smaller room, which has a nice overview over the garden but is very cozy.
Mary is very welcoming, unfortunately the family was only a few days away from going on vacation. This meant Mary was very busy with preparing her family's vacation and did not have much time for us which made the entire experience less personal.
The B&B is located just south of Thurles in a little town called "Holy Cross". This places makes a good starting point to drive to many sights like Cashel, Kilkenny, Cahir or Bunratty.

Mary welcomed us with tea and cookies and immediately made us feel at home.
Our room was really nice and clean with a great shower.
When we had breakfast (which was very good) she joined us and drank a cup of tea with us. Before we knew it a whole hour had passed.
Too bad we didn't stay longer in Holycross!
Mary her hospitality was the best we've seen in Ireland!

The facilities are first rate and are surpassed only by the friendliness of the hosts. Mary and Ed are very accommodating and went out of their way to make sure that we enjoyed our visit. We would absolutely stay there again if we return to Ireland.
