“Very welcoming”
Reviewed 23 August 2012

We just stayed the one night but I wish we could have stayed longer. From the minute we walked in the door we were welcomed with tea and cake and Mary and her colleague were very accomodating of my elderly aunt's mobility problems. The rooms are airy, spotless and very comfortable and the decoration and the linen are gorgeous. The price is very reasonable for the quality and I can't recommend it highly enough

Room Tip: Unfortunately there is only one ground floor bedroom but that's the only quibble.

We had a fantastic time at Abbeyvale - it's located in the beautiful Tipp countryside, near the absolutely charming town of Cashel, as well as numerous other small villages and towns and a range of activities. Our host, Mary, was incredibly sweet and accommodating. She was ready with all kinds of suggestions on things to see and do. She helped arrange a fantastic horseback riding trip at Crossogue equestrian, and suggested a great local pub (The Ship) for a pint when we wanted some beer and live music. We were only there two nights but we could have easily stayed longer as there was a lot to do in the area and the Abbeyvale rooms are so very comfortable. The enclosed sun-room was also perfect for an afternoon read. Loved this place!

We stayed for two nights as we were visiting Thurles Greyhound Stadium which was about 10 minutes away by car. The hospitality is top quality and the price is reasonable. The rooms were excellent and spacious and very clean. If you looking for a place to stay then this B and B has to be considered you wont be disappointed.

Would definitely book again for our next visit!!!

We stayed just one night as we were visiting friends (across the road, so perfect location!). The room was spotless and very airy, and the bed was very comfortable. We got a friendly welcome and goodbye from our hostess, and the house itself is nicely situated, with a large back garden and sun-room. We didn't have breakfast as we chose a lie-in. Couldn't have asked for more.

Stayed here on 3rd June 2012, The first night of our bikers tour of Ireland.
Had difficulty finding the place but that was down to my mates "navigation" skills :-)
When we eventually arrived we had a warm and friendly welcome...Ed even tried to programme the rubbish sartnav that got us lost to begin with... Excellent accommodation with secure garaged parking for our bikes.
The house was tremendous, brilliant rooms with en suite wetroom!.. and the local pub was literally just across the road.
Would definitely recommend Abbeyvale House and will certainly stay here again on my next visit to Ireland.

Room Tip: All rooms are ideal

I had an absolutely delightful couple of days at Abbeyvale House, where they go out of their way to make you feel at home.

The house is set in the charming village of Holycross (a few miles from Thurles) and offers exceptional value and service.

The rooms are all large, modern and well-equipped (I saw all of them as I was in a large party of guests), the breakfast was outstanding and our entire visit was, from start to finish, an absolute triumph.

If you decide to book in my tip (which was offered to us by the owner at Abbeyvale) is to go to Parkers restaurant for dinner, which is just a short walk down the road. It is very romantic and the food was great.

I defy you not to love it.

We chose this B&B based on the excellent reviews here on Tripadvisor. We were not disappointed. The house is well maintained and Mary decorated and furnished the house beautifully. Downstairs next to the breakfast area there is a Conservatory which is an ideal place to relax and read up on some of the sights you might be going on your next day. Breakfast was scrumptious! The corner rooms are quite spacious, unfortunately we got the smaller room, which has a nice overview over the garden but is very cozy.
Mary is very welcoming, unfortunately the family was only a few days away from going on vacation. This meant Mary was very busy with preparing her family's vacation and did not have much time for us which made the entire experience less personal.
The B&B is located just south of Thurles in a little town called "Holy Cross". This places makes a good starting point to drive to many sights like Cashel, Kilkenny, Cahir or Bunratty.
