We spent two nights at Abbeyvale while in Thurles researching our family roots. Mary and Ed are excellent hosts and were very helpful in setting us on our search, having contacts who could help us. The rooms are beautiful; the house spotless and nicely furnished. On our arrival Mary prepared tea and cake and served us in the lovely conservatory. Breakfast was delicious and ample, with leftovers to take for our day's snacks. We also enjoyed meeting the other guests there as Mary creates a warm and informal environment. The house is walking distance to 2 fine pubs and the lovely old Holy Cross Abbey which has been partially restored for present day use, and partially preserved as a monastic ruin. The house is also an easy drive to the Rock of Cashel, and the lovely town of Cashel. We hope to have the opportunity to return to Ireland some day and would definitely stay at Abbeyvale house again

Abbeyvale House is in the village of Holycross, midway between Cashel and Thurles in Co. Tipperary. It is within walking distance of the Holycross Abbey, an historic abbey that still celebrates Mass every day.
Mary Flanaghan is a warm hostess. The rooms are large, well decorated with large bathrooms. Our room had a queen bed, plus two single beds, a bathtub with whirlpool jets and a sauna. There is a nice sitting room with a fireplace for the guests, as well as a glassed conservatory where you are served breakfast to order. There is a pub across the road if you get thirsty. If you want a quiet setting from which to take in the history of Co. Tipperary, this bed and breakfast would be an excellent choice.

My travelling group have stayed in many countries-over the years -never have we experienced so much down right "family like" hospitality. The owners made us feel at home and attended to us with such ease. They really seemed to enjoy their home, visitors from all countries and most importantly this beautiful land-called "Ireland". They offered fabulous meals and wonderful sightseeing adventures-they drove us to local pubs that the
regular tourist wouldn't see -like the "Monks'' &
"Jim at the Mills". The entertainment ,at these venus ,were one of the most enjoyable part of our trip-you were able to experience "the true Irish" at their best with singing, dancing ,
playing of all kinds of instruments-asking for help from
the crowd present --&& just lots of fun..............
This B&B & this CASHEL area will defintely be on our list when we tour Ireland again. Our friends have just booked a trip-why don't you do the same -you will not be disappointed.

My family experienced true Irish hospitality when we stayed at Abbeyvale House B & B in Thurles, Co. Tipperary Ireland. The host and hostess Mary and Ed Flanagan Hunt were most accommodating to us and I observed the same to the other guests in the house as well. Mary is so warm, friendly and has a fine sense of Irish humor that made our stay so relaxing and enjoyable. Their home is situated just outside of the city of Thurles amongst area farms with several Pubs within walking distance as well as Holy Cross Abbey. They were most helpful in their suggestions to area sites and area Irish entertainment. The accommodations were lovely, spotless and most comfortable. Mary prepared delicious American and Irish breakfasts. We also had the opportunity to enjoy her dinners as well. We will certainly put Abbeyvale House on our itenierary for our next trip to Ireland and have already recommended this great fine to our friends who have stayed there since and experienced the same as well.
