“Fantastic, friendly hotel”
Reviewed 10 September 2010

We stayed at Posada de Lluc in Pollensa in July/August this year and have to say it was one the best holidays I have had.
After reading the reviews on Tripadvisor, I expected a nice hotel, but a difficult owner. Couldn’t have been more wrong; the hotel was great, but so was the owner. She was always helpful and smiling and couldn’t do enough for us.
We had one of the street facing rooms, it was a little dark, but very cosy and comfortable.
Had a little peep in the other rooms and they are all very different, but each one tastefully furnished.
It was great to have the pool. After a day out, it was nice to come back and have a swim and relax by the pool.
The hotel is in the centre of the town, but on a fairly quiet side street, so very quiet in the evening.
We happened to be there during the Pollensa festival and the town was very crowded and noisy. They had some fantastic parades and music and this went on for several days. We just dipped in and out of it, but if you fancy a very quiet time, then avoid the festival.
The restaurants in town are actually all very nice. Pricing levels vary quite a bit, so it is worth having a look around. The food was always good though.

I would definitely recommend car rental and exploring the mountains and some of the quieter beaches. Although the large tour operators bus their clients to these beaches around mid morning. So either be early or go in the late afternoon. Also do hire a small car as some of the roads are extremely narrow with hairpin bends.
Driving can be a challenge on the mountain roads, but otherwise the roads are very good and well signposted.
There was a very nice secluded beach near Alcudia, by Marissa. Just drive past the main beach until you reach a small car park on the right. The beach is just down from the car park.

We stayed at the Posada de Lluc for a week at the end of June 2010. The main plus points were:

Location - just a short walk to the main square
Room - we had a room with a terrace overlooking El Puig de Maria atop the hill behind the town - like many Mediterranean rooms - it was quite dark (and cool) so having the terrace was a big plus.
Pool area - for a hotel in the centre of town this was a bonus - it has plenty of sun loungers and most of the time we had it to our selves
Staff - were professional, unobtrusive and helpful
Breakfast - was fine - kept us going until the evening bar the odd tapas here and there.

The hotel itself is quite atmospheric and they have put a lot of work into injecting a good amount of charm.

Negatives
Nothing major to report - its quite pricey but its not like we did not know that before we went and the EUR weakening gave us a healthly discount!

Would definitely stay again.

We have stayed in every room of this charming hotel - and we love it. Joana the manager is always helpful. The breakfasts are good and the location - right by the main square is marvellous. Can't say enough good about it!

We have just returned from a week at the Posada de Lluc and can thoroughly recommend the hotel. It was spotlessly clean, very cosy, confortable and quiet with a warm, homely atmosphere. The staff were pleasant, efficient and helpful.
Recommended for singles or couples wishing to take a relaxing, chill out holiday, not recommended for families with children.
Situated in a quiet street (Rosser Vell) in the older part of Pollenca within easy walking distance of the picturesque main square, restaurants, cafes and tapas bars.
Hotel has 8 rooms in total each with a subtley different colour scheme (we stayed in the 'yellow' room overlooking the pool), some at rear overlooking pool, others at front overlooking street. Room cleaned every day, fresh towels (room and pool) and dressing gowns provided.
A safe box is provided in each room but a 'key' deposit of 25 Euros is required. We used the hotels own car park situated in a side street approx 3 minutes walk away, a deposit of 25 Euros is required for the electronic 'garage door' control.

We stayed here in May 2007 for about four nights after spending a week in a villa. I was a bit cautious because of the previous reviews but was pleasantly surprised when we turned up early and the staff were more than happy for us to leave our bags. Our room was overlooking the street (cheapest) as this was all they had left. The room itself was nice with Mallorcan furniture and a rustic feel, just a shame the beds are short! The bathroom was lovely and well equipped with a bath and a shower. It also had a hairdryer and a massive mirror.
We had a niggle immediately as the cards they give you to unlock your room slot into a space by the door which makes the lights come on. We couldn't get ours to work no matter what we tried so asked for assistance. You have to flick it up as it's too heavy for it to make contact otherwise. I got the feeling they were annoyed at helping but couldn't help over hear another couple who'd arrived having the same problem. Why can't they just tell you when you check in?!

The house itself is lovely inside, the pool area is basic and the website plays it up a bit. It's very noisy from the pumps but still a welcome feature in a town hotel. The breakfast was ok, you can go and refill your coffee but everything else is brought to you. The strangest thing about the hotel and the only negative is the owner, Joana. You get the impression you are intruding and she constantly looks stressed. The rest of the staff are friendly and approachable.

The location is perfect, a two minute walk to the main square. The Italian restauraunt is a must! We used the hotel car park around the corner for which we had to provide a cash deposite for the key, again a good feature.

If I returned to Pollenca I'm not sure I'd stay here again. If I did I would know what to expect and it would be on location rather than service.

We have stayed here on a number of occasions over the past few years in different rooms each time. Everytime we have stayed we have enjoyed it very much. The hotel itself is very beautiful, full of antiques and has a very peaceful feel to it. The pool area is compact and does the job it should. Let’s face it; it is a town centre hotel.

The hotel is run by Mallorquian people and Mallorquian/Spanish speaking staff, so be prepared to speak some Spanish, and also remember what British people see as an attitude problem is merely the way Spanish people are. So be open minded! We will definitely be staying here again.

We stayed at the Posada de Lluc for two weeks in September 2006. One very obvious asset to the hotel was the private car park just around the corner. It is not easy to park on the streets in Pollenca.

We stayed in the “Violet” room and whilst this room was very clean and well furnished it was not the most comfortable for such a long period of time. The shower in our bathroom did not work properly as sometimes we struggled to get a flow of water out of it.

The hotel pool was a very useful feature, but the pool area was smaller than it looked on the hotel’s website!

Similar comments have been made on this website in the past, but breakfast was rather disappointing. You get one glass of freshly squeezed orange juice, and if you choose coffee you get one cup of that too. We heard one guest ask for more orange juice and the response he received was not the most enthusiastic. To eat, breakfast consisted of two small slices of meat, two slices of cheese, a croissant or Danish pastry, a bread roll and a small piece of dry bread. Yogurts, fruit and cereals were also available. In addition to the above, eggs were offered on a daily basis, but they alternated between being fried, boiled or scrambled. You could not choose which method.

Until the last day of our stay we had felt that the accommodation was fine but overall, nothing special. When we approached the manager, Joana, in her office, asking if we could pay the bill, the response was downright rude. She made it very clear that we were intruding on her “afternoon off.” She turned off her TV, slammed her paperwork and books down on the desk and very rudely shoved the credit card slip under our nose for signing without saying a word. At no time during our stay did she ask us if everything was ok. Upon leaving she did not wish us a pleasant journey or thank us for staying. She made it very clear that she did not want to bother with pleasantries but just wanted to take our money. In our opinion, Joana did not make a very good hotelier in this respect. Whilst we will definitely visit Pollenca again, we will not stay at the Posada le Lluc.
