Reading LittlePumpkin's educated and comprehensive review, it goes to show sometimes that a restaurant can change it's nature virtually overnight. We ate there last week and had an excellent experience. My wife chose the sea bass which was moist and tasty, the rest of our party chosing meat courses which were absolutely fine - the lamb was excellent. My foie gras was actually very pleasant and I enjoyed it - luck of the draw. Deserts were very good. The setting is very open and relaxed, a lawned area at the front of the imposing hotel with a cooling water feature. The service was polite and attentive and I'd find it difficult to fault the package, particularly for the price. While not wishing to judge a hotel because of local livestock, I agree with LittlePumpkin about that cat - I'm no great cat lover and it didn't help to have that creepy, black, green-eyed thing - straight off the set of 'The Mummy Returns' - wandering around. What saved us was the hotel duck - a feisty mallard with real attitude (and an obvious inability to read the word 'canard' on the menu) who bustled up to our table and sent el gato packing - and all for a little bread. As I said, attentive service from all staff!
Well worth a try, and on prevous reviews, possibly the meat dishes are the better options from the set menu.
