Very good tapas, friendly waiters and a ‘hands-on’ chef all combine to make Casa Alvaro a really good place to spend an evening. The tapas include all the normal choices plus quite a few unusual ones – we shared 5 plates which were enough for two, and the chiporones, steak tips with hummus, and potatoes bravos in particular were really good! Add a couple of glasses of wine each, two deserts, and finally a couple of ‘angel d’or’ liquers to finish and the bill came in at about €50. Great food, and good value – best to book in advance as not very big and understandably popular. Not sure about the ‘no photos’ comments – we took several photos whilst there, and in fact the waiter was very keen to take one of us when asked….

Came here for lunch having read the reviews. 2 of us chose around 6 tapas. In general very good. The oxtail, lamb chops and rabbit the highlights. Roast vegetables dish not so great -needed to be softer and some dishes had a little too much salt on them maybe the chef could leave the diners to add extra salt if they want it. The white wine (an Albarino) was very good for the money. Dessert was disappointing compared with the tapas. However, all in all very good and would recommend.

Have eaten here twice this week and hope to fit in one more visit to this fab little place before the end of our holiday. We had a selection of meat dishes on our first visit and enjoyed them so much - along with the friendly attentive service and good wine, that we returned. The second visit was all about the fish dishes and they did not disappoint - huge grilled prawns, very fresh sardines, crispy calamares and a lovely octopus stew. Again, the wine and service was top notch. A really good addition to the Soller restaurants.

We ate here after booking as it always seemed to be busy when we walked past.
The waiter was not particularly welcoming or helpful when it came to ordering (our Spanish is only basic and so was his English so it was a bit of a struggle). However I would not have minded had the food been any good. Looking around I think we made the mistake of going for the paella which was strangely pretty flavourless and also very salty. Those tables that had tapas seemed pretty pleased with their meals and I have to say that the tapas looked very good, especially the grilled prawns which were enormous. However I would avoid the paella as it is clearly not their speciality.
Not sure I would go here again- preferred Ca'n Pintxo next door which was friendly and good value for money!
Also not sure about the no photographs policy- very strange.
