“Fantastic Hotel”

We fell in love with this hotel. It is classy, welcoming and warm. We had room 116. A lovely room with sea facing terrace. The breakfast is phenomenal, with adults only option. Best views of the bay, amazing adults only infinity pool. Practically an oasis of tranquility. There did get to be some kids but you could avoid them if you choose on a couples vacation. Lovely steam room and sauna for use, beautiful gardens for lounging, sofas and boardwalk style dining. This hotel is literally worth every penny. They have dvds/cd library, dvd player in the rooms, coffee maker, even brought us a fan because we were hot. They keep the fridge stocked with bottled water on the house.

Room Tip: even the garden rooms look stunning. they have lounge chairs and a spectacular view just not of the...

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Esplendido Hotel for two nights and we loved it! The view of the sea was amazing (as was the view from the upper infinity pool), and there was a "private" beach with free sun chairs and umbrellas (although it was a rock beach, which made it a bit uncomfortable to walk on).
The staff was wonderful and accessible, and as a couple taking a romantic weekend, we appreciated that the pools and the breakfast area were separated into those with children and those without (also note: the breakfast is AMAZING and one of the most extensive and filling hotel breakfasts I've had- meats, cheese, pastries, yogurt, fruit, cereal...you name it, they've got it) and is served until 11 AM, which was nice because after a night out on the town we wanted to sleep in a bit.
There were a lot of unexpected surprises to the hotel as well: free drink coupons when we checked in (good for one free drink each), a library and record player/vinal collection in an upstairs room, as well as an extensive DVD collection that could be rented out. The decor was also very nice and fit the beach-y environment well without being kitschy. The bed was also huge, which was good for my boyfriend, who is quite tall and sometimes uncomfortable in hotel beds.

We were incredibly pleased with the Esplendido, and look forward to returning soon!

This was our second visit to this superb hotel – our first was in April 2008. The hotel has a very chilled out, Balearic feel. There is always some Moon Safari-esque lounge music playing to enhance the blissed out feel. The front rooms all have incredible views across the bay. At night you can hear the sea gently washing onto the shore. Very relaxing. There is a lovely lounge area on the top floor – very easy to lose track of time going through the vintage vinyl collection!
Following our first visit we were worried it may have become a ‘victim’ of its own success but fortunately it has only improved. The décor has been refreshed in places and there is now an indoor spa.
Lovely restaurant serving fresh fish and Asian style food. This time we travelled with our 3 year old daughter and she loved the children’s menu. The breakfast is a thing of wonder – my wife particularly enjoyed mixing all the fruit, nuts and berries to create the perfect ‘bespoke muesli’!
The staff are very warm and friendly – especially helpful with family requirements to make the little ones more comfortable.
Then there are all the little attentions to details that make it special – free Wi-Fi all over the hotel, free minibar – they also serve breakfast until 11.00am just in case you’re having trouble shaking off a heavy night!
There is competition in the area but on the whole I think the Esplendido is unsurpassed on quality and value. I wouldn’t think twice about recommending or visiting again. Many thanks!!

Lovely hotel, lovely setting lovely breakfast lovely spa. Looking for a couples getaway or a girls weekend this is the place to go.
Although the beach is stone so difficult to walk on the beds are free and it was very quiet. Kids are welcome but if your kids are like mine I'm not sure how much there is for them to do. Tram trip to the Los town was lovely, shame we only had an hour or so to spend there

Room Tip: The sea view is lovely, even the sound of the tram is soothing

We have stayed in a couple of the smaller places in Soller in recent years (see above) and enjoyed them. But the place we will return to is the Esplendido. We loved - like others - the cool decor in the public rooms in particular. And our room with a terrace overlooking the sea was terrific. The nice touches such as great wifi and a good supply of free mineral water were great. There are great spa facilities and pools which we did not have time to sample. However, what impressed us most was the friendly and efficient staff. It is great when bar staff try remember your tipple after only a day. And the Bistro staff look as if the really want you to enjoy your fresh cooked eggs at breakfast. The breakfast was also a big hit with the cook to order counter, ripe fresh fruit and decent bread. Even the guy they arranged to meet us at the airport was a friendly taxi driver.
The bistro is excellent and although not cheap is good value. You can breakfast there in a child free zone if you want.
We look forward to returning again.

Room Tip: Sea view is a must.

We went to the Esplendido 9 years ago to celebrate our 3rd wedding anniversary, and have just returned to celebrate our 12th. The Majorcan climate combined with the Swedish cool of the hotel make it such a relaxing place to stay. We had a couple of days there without the kids, and loved every minute of it. The food in the restaurant was better (better menu choices) that I remember last time and the some great local wines on the wine list (the white Nou Nat was excellent). We arrived late in the evening and just throwing open the patio doors to see the horseshoe bay and hear the waves is such a great way to relax into a stay here. Breakfast is a real treat, with fresh oranges to squeeze yourself, doesn't get any better. We made use of the Spa and had a great massage, the spa area has been completely redeveloped since we were last there. We didn't use to pools, but they still look great, especially the adults only infinity pool. Just writing the review makes me want to go back. If you want a relaxing couple of days, the short flight to Palma, 30 minute taxi to Soller, and staying at the Esplendido is a great way to get away from it all. Can't recommend highly enough.

Room Tip: 2nd floor sea view rooms are great, the corner on 232 I think would be our choice

Our second visit to this wonderful hotel. Laid back, stylish, cool swedish feel. Rooms have incredible views across the bay, out to see and the port. Excellent lounge area on the top floor, with a retro record collection and player.....lost a whole afternoon up there with a good bottle of wine when we last visited in 2005. We were worried that it might have changed since our last visit 9 years ago or the decor might look tired but it was even better than before with an addition of a small indoor pool, gym and spa. Restaurant overlooking the port serves great fresh fish, asian fusion food but also has a childrens menu to keep the smaller patrons happy. You can have breakfast downstairs if you prefer an adult only setting and outside the school holidays obviously there are quite a few small people around but such a great atmosphere and the staff are very friendly and on hand for lots of advice on other restaurants to try. We did walk up to the Jumeriah Hotel at the top of the cliff and sampled a drink at their terrace bar and it had great views, service, pools, peace etc but feel that Esplendido offers better value for money, in a more convenient position.
Its the little things that make these hotels special, like the complimentary mini bar, the free wifi and late check out.....plus breakfast til 11.00! What's not to like? We will be back...thank you! xx
