Spent three nights at the Esplendido in one of the top floor Atico suites - balconies at both back (overlooking pool and terraces) and front (with fantastic views over the bay). The hotel is relaxed chic in style with friendly and attentive staff (although the restaurant service was stretched at times). The location is great for exploring the port, with everything within a 15 minute walk along the front. The train service up into Soller served its purpose well. The pools have great views and it was more than easy to stay up there for a few hours taking advantage of the drinks and food service. The Spa is small but provided a good massage and facial to both of us. Overall this was a really enjoyable three night break before the season gets going in a beautiful part of Mallorca. Will definitely return.

Esplendido thoroughly deserves its no. 1 Tripadvisor rating. We stayed 5 nights. Our room was very clean with a fantastic view from its own balcony (we would not have liked a room without a balcony or rear facing). We reckon a middle room on the third floor with sea view and balcony is about the best no. 314 was good for us! The breakfasts were relaxed - and it was not a problem to get an outdoor table, but it might be in high summer. They very cleverly use an upstairs restaurant for children's breakfasts keeping ground floor and outside eating for adults only. In the evenings make sure you have booked an outside table!! They are very popular and there are only 8 at present, but I believe they are extending their outside eating.
The staff were charming - without exception. The little girl at breakfast (whose name I have forgotten) was an absolute treasure.
The car parking is a bit weird as the car park is 300 metres down the road, but if its not pouring with rain you don't mind a little walk in the morning. nb if you haven't been to Majorca before - you must have a car.
The beach is pleasant whilst not outstanding, and I did almost take over the beach boys raking job as he was going slower than a slug. There should probably be more and better service on the beach. The service at the pools was excellent. There is a quiet adult pool and we had no problem getting a sun bed but I don't think the hotel was full at the time, so it might be a problem at other times.
We only have two negative comments. The hotel advises that the tap water in the room is not good to drink and they supply an opening pack of two bottles of water and two bottles of beer, but after that you are on your own for 4 nights and room service water is very expensive. We ended up buying at the super-mercado, but if it is not safe to drink the tap water we feel that they really should supply free bottles every day. It is a small cost to them and a bad mistake not to do it. The other small negative is that we were recommended to eat at a restaurant called Es Faro which was actually one of our worst dining experiences of all time! Suffice to say we were charged €30 euro's for one - yes one tiger Prawn. We told as many people at the hotel as possible, to help prevent them sending any other unfortunates.
Eat at Esplendido! The sunset view is fantastic!

If I were to design and run my own hotel, this is how I would do it. Stylish, funky, upbeat but without a hint of pretension. Rooms are bright, airy and imaginitively designed with splashes of bold colour, quality beds and linen and a brilliant stereo and TV. The breakfast is one of the best I have ever encountered - a buffet set up where everything is top quality and beautifully laid out. The bar had a nice buzz to it in the evening with attentive staff who knew how to mix proper drinks. Great spa treatments and a nice pool set in to the cliffs above the hotel.

Soller is a sweet little town with a good range of restaurants to explore, although if you're on the hunt for beaches, you might be disappointed.

We stayed for four nights and left feeling totally relaxed and rejuvenated. I have been plotting our return ever since - we absolutely loved it.

We stayed at this lovely design hotel in May and were very impressed with this hotel. A great place to relax and unwind. You will find interesting artworks across the hotel. The rooms have a nice design and are comfortable and the views of the bay are quite special and romantic. However this hotel is made extra special by its staff as in this hotel everyone made an extra effort to make our stay as comfortable as possible and they were so friendly and helpful. We often stay at boutique hotels and this is not always the case. The bay itself is lovely and not to busy in May. For food we would recommend: Great tapas can be enjoyed at "Albatros" and we had a nice dinner at "Es Raco" Restaurant. When you are in Sollier the town, do check out a lovely little place for lunch: "C'an Cata" Cafe/Rest, where you can have a lunch menu for the incredible amount of 10 euro's which includes a 3 course lunch including a bottle of wine and water. Amazing!

We had a lovely stay in the Esplendido - as stated in other reviews the rooms are nice (we had a standard sea view which was a good size, well equipped and a lovely large window looking out over the sea), the facilities are good, the service is friendly. We liked the art scattered about the hotel and the light furnishings - all modern and snazzy. I guess it is a bit pricey, but it is a wonderful place to chill out, relax, eat well and get away for a good weekend.

My wife and I have just come back from a return visit to the Esplendido and even the bad weather could not 'dampen' our enjoyment. We first stayed here in May 2008 prior to a family wedding in Valldemossa. In all we had 8 familes/couples staying there and all agreed it was the best hotel experience they could remember and showed a side of Majorca so totally different to their previous experiences of Palmanova, etc.
My wife needed a relaxing break prior to taking up a new job position and we thought this would be the ideal place. The atmosphere is so relaxing and the staff so friendly and helpful. Nothing is too much trouble. The rooms are spotless and the views, even with the rain, wonderful. The library and music room (with its collection of old vinly records) help pass the time if the weather prevents the use of the 2 swimming pools or the sun bathing areas. They even provide a DVD palyer with free DVDs to borrow. The food and service in the Bistro and breakfast room is great - they even supply free newspapers.
If only all hotels followed the Esplendido's example........
